After event questions and answers and chatting
Yep, those two cuties were from me. The "teeny tiny" sedum is the one I originally got from you... this spring, it took off in its container, and I was able to share several little pots of it! The variegated sedum is from a nursery in NC, just labeled "variegated sedum" LOL.
thanks Jill, sedums do pretty well here, except that I had lost the teeny tiny one to something growing over it, The other one is cute, different with those pointy leaves,
I am sorry I don't remember who it was from but the walking Iris.. is it hardy for me??.. I see zone 10 and 11 online.. not sure I am looking at the right thing or not
I have a walking iris. It is not hardy to this area you will need to bring it in for the winter, but it is very easy. No fuss.
thanks.. I only have a south window it can go in.. will that be enough?
Yup.
awesome.. thank you!!!
I visited a fantastic nursery the other day. GASCOS, near Monroe Township, NJ - up your way onewish1 and FlowAjen. Have you ever been there?
not near me at all.. looks nice though

Onewish you may have gotten the walking iris from me. I just got it myself and it had two small starters on it. I thought it was a hardy plant but I really don't know. It didn't have any info with it.
looks like it's good for sun, shade or indoors.. as long as it stays moist

but not hardy
Onewish, Terp, Holly and Wind - You had requested Penstemon 'Buleberry Taffy' from me. The large pot that had that plant in it last year was full of robust seedlings this spring, so I potted a number up and left others in the pot. None turned out to be P. 'Blueberry Taffy'. Guess the original plant did not overwinter and was perhaps a sterile hybrid. I suspect that the pot was stored next to another Penstemon in bloom and became its nursery. The flowers on the resulting plants appear to be identical to my Penstemon pallidus, which began blooming at the same time. While not the awesome 'Blueberry Taffy', this is a respectable native Penstemon that is the first to bloom of the nearly 20 species and cultivars I grow. Sorry for the letdown, but I hope you will enjoy the plant you received. Photo of P. pallidus below.

A lovely plant.
no letdown.. my hummers will love it.. thank you!!
I was more than thrilled!
thanks Greenthumb, just love it!!
there are a few blooms open on the deciduous azalea and it smells WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks CHantell, got all the sodas, and our son is having friends over this weekend, so that works great!
Thanks for the huge caladium bulb- whoever!
Jill thanks for Felicia, and peach Yarrow.
I got several of my swap plants in the ground today, including the big azalea, a begonia, 2 hosta and 3 Casablanca Lily bulbs. I also potted up some plants and did some weedingg and cleanup work. Today was wonderfully cool weather. So nice after the last two days of hot and humid. I was so sweaty working on the gardens on Monday. Too hot too soon.
I need an Acanthus now. A must have.
Thanks again everyone for all the wonderful plants. I'm still trying to figure out where everything will go. I certainly don't lack space.
Karen
Never been to Gaskos but drive by it frequently
Karen acanthus doesn't do great for me.. last year it popped up a small patch of foliage.. and that's it.. not sure if I spotted it this year or not.. will check later on if it's not pouring
We visited AMBLESIDE GARDEN HILLSBOROUGH NJ http://www.amblesidegardens.com/ on the return bus trip from Duke Farms. The prices were pretty good but the plant quality was exceptional and the variety was great. The owner came out to the bus as we were loading up, thanked us for stopping and shopping.
Looks like a center I'd like to visit
Sally not sure who passed it on to you but Bill Caladiumbulbs4less sent me a box of his giant bulbs to pass around the swap. They really are huge.
Holly--I got one....Any idea of what color they are?
No Gita I don't , Jen I had a dozen of them and just walked around with the box, not sure who all got them.
Allison, there's a local nursery here where I've seen Acanthus, and I'm pretty sure they would know how well it would do around here, as they're usually quite knowledgeable.
Holly, I got a few of those caladium bulbs. I've never grown them before, so we'll see how I like them.
Karen
They are really beautiful they like it warm and shady.
I love caladiums, but I have gotten frustrated by how long they take to leaf out...
I usually start caladiums inside in 4 inch pots... that's what I was planning to do with them this year too, including those for Gita & Donner, but it was such a cool spring that Bill wasn't able to send them until about a week before the swap, so I just brought them bare.
Jill.. Bill's caladiums usually don't fit in a 4 inch pot.. they are big and pretty!!
On the aucuba cuttings, can I stick it in rooting hormone and just stick in the ground or should I put them in pots for a while?
Don't just stick them in the ground. I tried just sticking some in pots last year and though they stayed fresh looking for a long time, they never developed roots and ultimately turned black. I know they are supposed to be easy to root, but it doesn't happen automatically!
it took me a while... kept them in the shade and moist
Well, I don't think I was diligent on the "keeping them moist" piece.... Plus the cuttings I had were too large and I didn't trip the leaves as I should have.

I gave away two pots of yellow iris. Think maybe Pixie got one but I am not sure. Here it is blooming. Anyone know what iris it could be, is it a Siberian?
no pic Holly
Happy.. I love using the water gels for slow rooters.. it always helps
