Happy, that is so exciting!

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Yes, unless I kill it in the next 3 days. It is likely to go in shock at being stuck in dirt, no matter how much I baby it!

Happy--
Be patient...It is not uncommon for a woody cutting to show new growths,
as there is enough 'energy" in the stem to produce these. Besides--being wrapped
in wet newspaper and a plastic bag really helps...BUT, it may do so and not have the kind of root growth that is needed for it to grow.

Wonder if you should re-cut it just below the rots???
I would not hurry to put it in dirt...unless you actually see roots forming
at the bottom of the cutting.

I have had Rhodo cuttings with all kinds of top growth--but they were not rooted..
pulled right up.....

I know plant cuttings can send out new growth without producing roots. But that cutting and I had had it with each other, so one way or the other it was leaving the kitchen. I had assumed it was headed to the compost pile, but now two are in post so we'll just see. Fortuitously, I just noticed that my neighbor has planted a fig tree near our property line so I now have a source of fresh figs!

Did anyone give Agastache plants in light lavender clear plastic cups - maybe 16 ounces? I'd like to know the cultivar if possible.

Sad News. I planted the PB shrub Chantell gave me. at the edge of the hill which we live & it gave up the ghost. Bahhhhhhhhh.

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

I gave Agastaches, but I don't think they were in lavender cups... Hmmmm. Well, if it was from me, it was "Tutti Fruiti". =)

FlowAjen---
I have a Coleus that looks just like yours...
I thought it was just an "Alabama Sunset" on steroids....

Is it something different??? Own up if you passed this on at the swap.

Jen, your coleus is 'Glennis' aka 'watercolor' The more sun, the brighter the colors,
Coleuslover123 brought them to the swap.

Side by side with Alabama Sunset< Glennis is red coloration (in sun) while Alabama remains on the brown/orange side. Glennis is very different in different light exposures with less light bringing out more bright yellow/green. Agood plant to overwinter as a houseplant as well as a rooted cutting. A second year plant is quite wonderful. Here is a link so you can see the various coloration s that Glennis can have http://allthingsplants.com/plants/view/97547/Coleus-Plectranthus-scutellarioides-Glennis/

Thanks Coleuslover, because of you I am enjoying one of my all time favorites!

Speaking of noID coleus, I got this one as a sprig at my favorite nursery but it had no ID tag (unusual). I've hunted around and it *looks* like 'Velvet Lime'. (If anyone has a better ID, would love to hear it.) It's been growing fabulously well in a bed I have that gets lovely morning sun and some dappled/filtered afternoon sun as well.

I got several coleus this year, and this one has turned out to be my absolute favorite. I am definitely going to put it in a container for the winter and put it back in the garden next spring.

I cut off the flowers a couple weeks ago at Gita's suggestion, and since then it has sprouted about half a dozen new ones!

The leaves are velvety. Just love it.

These photos were taken a couple weeks ago, and since then I've removed the first blooms as Gita suggested, and also a few leaves that seemed to be taking on a greenish tint in the extreme heat we had.

A post of pics of this coleus from this morning is below.

I don't think it's Glennis, the edges are different. Glennis looks more lobed(is that the word I'm looking for?) to me

Of the coleus named varieties offered at our spring swap "glennis' is the closest to what you have.

Anyone can post their pictures http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/coleus/all/on the coleus forum here for a better id

Me, Coleuslover and Onewish, Wind and Holly had coleus to share. It isn't one I brought.

Good luck.
