Onewish, Terp, Holly and Wind - You had requested Penstemon 'Buleberry Taffy' from me. The large pot that had that plant in it last year was full of robust seedlings this spring, so I potted a number up and left others in the pot. None turned out to be P. 'Blueberry Taffy'. Guess the original plant did not overwinter and was perhaps a sterile hybrid. I suspect that the pot was stored next to another Penstemon in bloom and became its nursery. The flowers on the resulting plants appear to be identical to my Penstemon pallidus, which began blooming at the same time. While not the awesome 'Blueberry Taffy', this is a respectable native Penstemon that is the first to bloom of the nearly 20 species and cultivars I grow. Sorry for the letdown, but I hope you will enjoy the plant you received. Photo of P. pallidus below.
