I need to update my haves and add Geranium 'Biokovo', a hardy mounding plant with white blooms in early summer. I'm thinning my little "hedge" of it, pulling out crowns with good runner-stems that root easily at this time of year (some may have a few little roots attached). I potted up a bunch of them for myself & my MIL that I'll plant out at the end of summer. No sense in taking up space for these with pots for the swap, as they won't have time to root in this week, so I'll offer bundles of 10-12 "cuttings," enough for 3-4 larger clumps or as many as a dozen starter-size plants.

I should also have quite a few divisions of "Felicia's Phlox," a sturdy blue-violet variety passed to me from my DMIL Felicia and to her from her mother (also named "Felicia").

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

I would like some of 'felicia's' phlox. I love the family connections. Thank you

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Jen and Jill--

Here is a picture of Jill's "Felicia's Phlox"....

I gave now had it a few years....Gita

Jill: I'd love some Biokovo bundles! I'm thinking it might work on my awful front hill. ... which actually may start to look pretty nice in a year or so!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Happy, I've heard your awful front hill is already not so very awful. :-)

Thanks, Gita!

Here's another photo of it for Jan. It's hard to describe colors correctly. My MIL says it's blue. To me, it's more of a purple, and some years it seems to shade more toward blue-violet than others. But it's a good grower!

Woohoo!!! Looks great!

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Critter: OMG, your buzzing reporters must have had a few too many drinks of nectar. Right now it is worse than it has ever been, because it is still gridded with green tape and many of the plants clearly didn't make it through the winter. Not to mention the invasion of weeds! But that being said, I am more optimistic than in the past than this bizarre project might work! So I thank you for your vote of confidence.

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

Critter, I'd love to try your Geranium 'Biokovo' if you have any. I love it. I have something similar, but I don't think it is that cultivar and I can't find the name of it in my garden journal. So much for trying to be organized!!!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Critter, is that 'Felicia's Phlox' the tall garden variety that blooms in late summer? I would love a division of that! Please and thanks! Is that really the name of the cultivar, or do you just call it that because it came from you DMIL Felicia?

I divided my big clump of 'Gumdrop' hosta today and potted up to bring to those who have asked for it. I'm all out of that one now. I will be bringing some hosta seedlings with me, so some of you might see something you like. I have 3 small pots of one that looks much like 'Stiletto", if anyone is interested.

Karen

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Wind, maybe you have 'Karmina', which is similar to 'Biokovo'.

Here are a couple of pics showing that Carex 'Silver Sceptre'. It makes a great edger, but I must forewarn everyone that it's not very well behaved. You have to keep up on removing the runners every year. Don't wait for 2 years like I did, as then its a real b**** of a job. The ones my pictures are'nt looking so hot right now. They tend to look like this in the spring. They look much less ragged in the summer after it's had a chance to fill out with new growth.

The first picture shows my clump of hosta 'Gumdrop' in the lower left corner.

thanks Karen... I'll have to look up that one too. It was driving me crazy which one we have. I found it listed in my garden diary from 2008. For some reason it never made it to my photo garden journal. Anyway, it's Geranium macrorrhizum ‘spessart’. I had ordered it from LazySSFarm. I first saw it (or something similar) at Longwood Gardens planted in a border in front of Mahonia.

Critter, I know I have one little baby that I can dig out for you if you want to trade. Yours is a hybrid I think from G.macrorrhizum and G. dalmaticum

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Okay, that's one I was unfamiliar with, Wind. I just looked it up. It's pretty.

Karen

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Yes, "Felicia's Phlox" is P. paniculata, tall garden phlox. And it's a noid, which is why I put its name in the double quote marks... I think you should be able to register historic passaround varieties, LOL!

Wind, I'm always up for a new hardy geranium -- thanks! I've got 4 or 5 drink cups planted up with the 'Biokovo', and I'll bring some bundles also, pulled toward the end of the week.

Speaking of pulling, Joyanna and I pulled quite a bundle of (dis)Obedient Plant out of the garden today (Physostegia)... here we go with the color descriptions again, but I think of it as a pale pinkish-purple. It spreads, quite a lot if it's happy (mine must have been delirious with joy last winter), but it's also shallow rooted and pretty easy to pull from where you don't want it in spring. Any takers?

Central, MD(Zone 7a)

Karen,

I'll bite on your stilleto hosta. I had to jump online here to distract me from the caps game. Ughhhh

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Terp, thanks for your post! I'd missed Karen's post about stiletto hosta. :)

Karens, I'd like a Stiletto hosta. That's an interesting one!

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

Pixie, Terp and Wind, I was just informed by the person who gave me the Lupine seeds, that the flowers will be purple and NOT red!! I really wanted red, but I'm sure I'll find a place for mine. Is purple OK with you guys. I think that my winter sown SALVIA FOREST FIRE" might survive and could be a replacement for the RED if you'd like.

Odenton, MD(Zone 7b)

Jill, can I have some of your obedient plant please?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Joyanna and I filled a 2 gallon bucket with (dis)Obedient Plant that we pulled fairly carefully -- eg, stems with root tufts that will do just fine if potted and probably just fine if planted, although I'd cut them back so they don't topple. Catbird, you may have as much as you'd like! We have plenty to go around, LOL.

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

hi Roses, the purple Lupi will be just fine thanks!! Harry's fav color lol

last night was freeeeeeeeeezing. had to bring back in the seedlings. plan to put them back out tomorrow. I also added a few of another hardy geranium that blooms bright pink. Don't know the ID though. It came from a friend.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Some stuff I still have extras of:

--Rose Campion babies--all over my bed....Will not pot up--but will dig up and put in tray.
--Any more requests for Chrysanthemum Pacificum? Holly or happy--do you want more?
--Have a few extra Montauk Daisies....
Lots more 4 O'clocks "Broken Colors"...I may just bring them all and you all can go at it....:o)

Really hard to say about all the Zinnias and Snapdragons. i KNOW i will have extras--just
have not gotten around to sorting them out. The weather....I am tired....and my feet hurt....
I will fulfill all requests though...the best I can....I can see my car loaded to the gills once more.....AAGGH....

I plant to bring some empty pots and Lg, cell-packs to share. The ones that have the handle attached.
These are just as big as 4" poys--but come as a 6-pack.
keep lugging all these home...when i am tossing the plants down the Chute....
Any special requests???? I mostly have the 6" white pots, 4" small, black pots, and some HB's.
and these lg, 6--packs. As space in my car permits....of course....

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I cleaned up one of the flower beds today and potted up a few things for the swap, anyone interested in walking iris I have two of them and 5 pots of Lamium Beacon Silver it's a very pretty "ground cover" so expect it to spread. Also pink or white hellebore babies.

Central, MD(Zone 7a)

Definitely hellebore babies Holly!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I will take whatever 4 o'clocks you have Gita.. what I don't use.. Michele will

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Gita: I am good on Pacifium, so rest your feet! I have it both in the backyard and on my front hill. It you would otherwise toss it, though, I can always add more to my front hill. I've got one "square" on the hill with Pacificum, but I'm going through and checking what didn't make it over the winter -- I could add another square. But I can just propagate what I already have, so no need for you to work any harder.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Gita I'll take some 4 o'clocks also

donnerville do you still have Brunnera left?

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Jen and one-wish--I will bring all I have and you two can "duke it out"....
They are in individual small containers--so easy-peezy.

They seed so readily--I was at my daughters--and, once more, that small area is
covered again with 4's. As if I never took any......

G.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Got you Paul I thought you might want them.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Holly: My hellebores have never dropped a seedling! How are yours so prolific?

This message was edited May 14, 2013 7:12 PM

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Happy---neither have mine--and I have five!
Maybe they are hidden in all the dried leaves and other crap....

G.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

no dukin ... everyone take what they want.. I will take all the leftovers

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Wind: I'd love your hardy geranium if there aren't other takers; I don't have any pinks that I recall, other than the bigroots.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I will look and see if some of the other colors have seedlings. The ones that have seedlings are Pine Knot Select Hellebore. The way these guys are going they could fill the flower beds. LOL

Central, MD(Zone 7a)

Hmm. That is interesting Holly. I looked at buying Pine Knot seeds this year, thought it would be an interesting experiment.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

mine took forever to flower.. 4 or 5 years maybe

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Holly, I'd love some hellebores as well.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Holly: Did you grow them from seed?
