Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Here are some more pics. The first is of Hosta 'Lakeside Cha Cha'. The second is crested iris. the third one is an epimedium with the rose colored flowers. I don't know the name. I'm just adding that one tonight, if anyone would like it. it's a great shade plant. The fourth picture is yellow cowslip Primula, another plant on I'm adding tonight, and another good one for shade.

Certainly, Terp!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Holly -- I picked up the 1 remaining A. canadiensis at the Baltimore MG sale this morning, $2, which together with the extra glad bulbs would make us even for the missing lotus (which I still haven't located). Or if Terp has you covered, somebody else can have it.

Jan, thanks so much for finding that coneflower! One is plenty, and full or skimpy it'll be better than the none that I have now!

I picked up three little $5 Spicewood trees, thinking I needed more than 1 (host plant for Spicewood Swallowtails)... then figured out the reason i was seeing them in our yard is that they also eat sassafrass... so I probably only really "need" one. If anybody else has been looking for this tree, let me know. :-)

FlowAJen, I've got 'Midnight Rose'... it's growing slowly for me, though, not big enough to split/share. However, I did see it at Dutch Plant Farms last week... LMK if you want me to check the price. (I didn't look, just noticed that they were nice full plants and briefly considered whether I needed another one.)

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Oh JILL!!! Please and thank you to one of your Spicewood!!!!! Oopss google picked up Cercis canadensis instead. Do you know of a link? Fragrant?

As for the Berlandiera - thank you!! The girls will be thrilled!!!

ALL have discovered baby Blood Maples (thank you to mama tree in yard beside me) in my yard again. Anyone interested in raising one from infancy?

Karen may I have some yellow cowslip Primula please?

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

Happy Mother's Day ^_^

hi Karen, lovely garden photos! I'd love to try your Spanish bluebells in both colors if you have any left and also a cowslip. I had cowslip years ago and I miss it. It came back for several years then disappeared. I think the shady spot I had it in got too dry during the summer.

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Jen, I have a Midnight Rose, but it's the slowest growing heuchera I have. It's probably the same exact size that it was when I purchased it last spring.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Karen--

I have had Spanish Bluebells for years! They, actually, also come in pink--but seems I have
lost those....
Last year--I dug them all up and re-planted them in the fall. They came up and bloomed very nicely this spring.
Now I have them in 4 different places....
Just FYI---in case you mix their bulbs up with others--the Wood Hyacinth bulbs are perfectly round......

I have always known there as "Wood Hyacinths'.....Gita

Nutsfordaylily/Karen I would love to have some blue Spanish Bells and an epimedium.

I have a division of heuchera 'Peach Crisp' if you would like to try it. Thanks.

Coleup/Judy

If they are Japanese maples then yes.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Coleup, I'll put you down for the epimedium also, and I would love some of that heuchera.

Ecnalg, i'm putting you down for the white and caramel DBI.

Critter, you are more than welcome!

You guys are too much!! I love all this chatting and swapping. Saturday is going to be AWESOME!!!!!

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

As I originally cautioned when I posted my Penstemon 'Blueberry Taffy', I did not know if it would come true from seed. All my plants are blooming now and none look like my original, which in fact did not come back. Photo is of blooms of the offspring. Please let me know if you still want a plant despite the difference in appearance.

For all of you Japanese maple lovers out there, I still have the following trees in 3 gal pots .

Butterfly - http://www.davidsansjapanesemaples.com/shop/product/butterfly

Ruths Red - http://www.davidsansjapanesemaples.com/shop/product/ruths_red

English Towne - http://www.davidsansjapanesemaples.com/shop/product/englishtown

Butterfly is variegated and Ruths and Englishtown stay small. Last year these trees sold for $39.98.
Asking $10 each Can be container grown. They are around 3' tall now. Can you give them a good home?

Coleup, I will take Butterfly. That one looks really nice. I have only 2 JM's, Bloodgood (I think) and Full Moon. I want the one called Peaches and Cream.

Karen

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Terp or re Jerusalem artichokes
Ditto to above comments. Bulbs I get are the size of small turnips at best, but they are a bumpy tuber. So the practicality of digging and scrubbing and cutting them, I find a turn off. And they say if you slice them, let's say for a veggie tray, they turn grey due to enzymes.

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

thank you Karen!

Central, MD(Zone 7a)

Thank you Sally. If I had the space I would give them a shot. Otherwise I don't think I would really benefit from planting them.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

OMG, nutsfordaylily, I'd love your epimedium with the rose colored flowers and your yellow cowslip Primula, if you have any left -- but I realize I'm probably too late to the party.

I can add to my "haves" list: Carex grayi -- a short ornamental grass -- despite reports to the contrary, it is not invasive (though it seeds a tiny bit), and it does not require especially most soil (I know, because I haven't killed it). I have probably had it for 15 years. http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/gardens-gardening/your-garden/plant-finder/plant-details/kc/j660/carex-grayi.aspx. I have a bunch of it -- was just moving some of my patch to make way for something else.

Jill -- the spicewood isn't hardy here, is it?

Coleup -- I'd be delighted to give Ruth's Red and English Towne a (good) home, in containers on our patio.....

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Critter, I don't think you owe me another water lotus, are you sure that you do and I forgot all about paying for the extra glads. Unless some one else wants that columbine I'll take it too. I could use it in more than one of my beds.
Karen, I also would love an epimedium and the carmel DBI, and a yellow with purple falls. I have one with a variegated leaf it has never bloomed for me would you like some.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Happy, you're not too late. I will put you down for the rose epimedium and the cowslip primula. Would you like a purple epimedium? I have some of that, too.

Holly, I'm putting you down the the epimedium and the 2 DBI. Would you like a purple epimedium also? Is your variegated one a dwarf? I'll take it if so.

Just wanted everyone to know that I have some purple epimedium I can share, and I have the cultivar name, but can't think of it right now.

I also have a sedge grass, Carex morrowii 'Silver Sceptre' ( http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/37086/ ), which is great as an edging in a shade bed. It's in bloom now. To keep it in clumps you need to take off all the offshoots every year, so it's not low maintenance, but it really is nice looking. I just took pics of these today, and I will upload them from my phone.

I also have Uvularia grandiflora (Large Bellwort) that I can divide ( http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1373/ ).

I'm sure I'll find more stuff to add while I'm out in the gardens tomorrow. Got a lot of cleanup work done today.

Jill if that nursery is cheaper than 12.95 for the Midnight Rose Heuch can you pick you up for me? if it's not too much trouble, thanks!

Coleup I'll love that English towne jm and that Peach Crisp...oooo I LOVE that one!

Karen, I'd like the yellow with blue beard, thanks!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Here are pics of my most recent offerings. The first is the purple epimedium. In the second pic you can see the clumps of carex lining the bed to the right.

annapolis, MD(Zone 7b)

Karen. me too purple epimedium and a carex... Carex are definitely under used plants, Thank you

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Yes Karen I would like some of the purple, too. I don't know what this iris is. It isn't tall but not dwarf either I don't think it is a bearded iris the fronds are rather slender very pretty and I just don't understand why it never blooms for me I have other iris planted near it that bloom all the time.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

ok Karen you twisted my arm.. I would love an epi if you have enough to spare

GT I would still like a penstemon.. pretty anyway

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Karen, I've been looking for a Silver Sceptre! I'd love one, please.

I have 2 very small russian sage runners that were just potted up. I can't remember the cultivar, but it's supposed to stay shorter (2 feet) and not flop. Anyone interested?
