Nisi,
Thanks for the post. I have friends in Delran! I sent them the link.
Chat and Swap thread PART 4 for the RU at Jan23 on May 18
I just got a postcard in the mail from Fairweather Gardens. They are having for the first time -half-price open houses. It is located only 20 miles from me. Check out their website
http://www.google.com/search?q=fairweathergardens.com&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari
Dmail me if you see something that catches your eye. I could get down there tomorrow morning early and get it.
Terp-I saw some kalmia listed.
Jill, my plan was to bring the banana indoors in the winter and get some fruit! But I forgot to take into account the width of this plant! It took up so much room that it was crowding out my other plants, and my south-facing window space is very limited. You may have better luck!
Jan, dmailing you now!
I'm sorry I haven't been on the site lately, in case there were any requests (I just saw one from FlowAJen and will have to go back and read it tomorrow) Katherine and I huhave been madly transplanting and preparing for a plant sale at the Burlington County Garden Expo this weekend. I would like to bring the event to your attention if you are in the area of Moorestown on Saturday. We will be selling plants there, but you don't have to buy anything from us because you can get if for free the following Saturday! There will be other plant vendors and exhibitors.
I thought some of you might be interested in going to this Gardening Expo (which is more than a plant sale) so here is the info:
http://moorestown.patch.com/articles/gardening-expo-kicks-off-spring-season-at-ag-center
P.S. I DID make a note of any requests that were sent D-Mail. Will have to read over the threads tomorrow to see if anyone made a request of me in the chat threads.
Nisi my friend pointed out that date is off in the article. Is it Saturday or Sunday? She works Saturday so won't be able to go.
Jan I just came on here to post the info about Fairweather, too.. LOL
SSG, I've been overwintering a couple of shorter banana plants (toddler to teenage pups) in a corner of my dining room, just to one side of a big south-facing window, so that's where your dwarf one would live. Any "pups" that it displaces will just have to deal with winter dormancy in the basement!
Jan, Dmailing you... IF you go for yourself, it would be great if you could keep an eye out for Tennissee Coneflower 'Rocky Top'. It's supposed to bloom well in part shade. :-)
I SO wish I could be there!!!! Please, please take LOTS of pictures!!! Miss you all!!! :)
Oh Bec! You'll be missed.
I can't log on to Fairweather's website...anyone else having trouble?
Jan's fault. ^_^
Sorry. I got in all right . What do I need to do differently?
Looks like I'll be headed to Fairweather in the morning. Hehehe
no, not your fault I have their website in my favorites and it's still not letting me log in, so then I tried going thru DG watchdog, and it still won't let me on...error message "site may be too busy" LOL .....you got that right! if everyone got their postcard yesterday then everyone is shopping
Heehee. Should be interesting!!
I have spotted tons of the purple perilla seedlings that I acquired from Holly.. they self seed like crazy if you don't dead head.. easy to spot & pull if you don't want them there.. but I like them.. and they smell nice if you brush on them walking by.. haven't used them for cooking yet.. if anyone wants some.. let me know

Just potted up a few English thyme (a taller creeper, gets about 6 inches high) and an extra piece of the peach yarrow I picked up for Sally.
Chantell, I wriggled a likely-looking piece of Berlandiera away from the one that's growing between my patio pavers (the only one I have!). I'm hoping it will be in better shape next week than the last one I gave you, LOL.
Thanks for sharing the link Nisi
Well I looked through the wish list that has been sitting in my Fairweather catalog to see what is still available. I do solemnly swear that I will do y'alls shopping first before I do mine. Hahaha.
Even though there is a ladies' banquet in the evening and I still need to get a few things for it, I WILL go plant shopping for you. Hmmm....better take the minivan - the seats are already in their stowed position.
I am looking for white Bleeding Heart, Native Columbine Reddish/Orange & Yellow
Nisi, I added that link to the "Events" thread earlier today. Thanks!
Terri (Aspenhill) & Sally & I are taking a road trip tomorrow to the Baltimore Co. MG sale and the azalea & rhodi show/sale. Glad you are all such good info sharers! Thanks!
Holly, I have white Bleeding Heart listed in my Haves are you interested? If so, I will set one aside for you.
Jan. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow as you personal shop for choice plants at sale prices. Good luck.
Holly -- by native columbine, do you mean the Canadensis -- red/yellow?
Sounds like everybody is going to have fun today. I'm really interested in hearing about the cylburn sale. I have wanted to go to it for some time now but it just always ends up in second or third place.
I got a neighbor interested in deciduous azaleas and other plants with a tour of the yard. He was looking for sunflowers, to start, so I sent him links to cylburn and brookside thanks to everybody for posting them!
Happy hunting.
The azalea and rhododendron sale is indoors..btw
Yes Coleup, I was looking at the one you brought to Jill's and thought at the time how pretty it is and I don't have any like that.
Yes Happy, Do you have some?
The other thing I want but can't name is a small dark green leaf with white spots and gets small white flowers, pretty sure it would be a shade plant and blooming now. I think it is a bulb and I thought it was something like Squill or Squib but when I looked up Squill they had Blue flowers and a different leaf.
Paul how much property do you have? I have tons of very tiny baby Hellebores to bring to the swap you will have a long wait for them to do anything but they will grow.
Wooded 1/3 acre. I have large parts that are covered by pachysandra just to keep weeds and other similar beasts down. And I like the solid green. I don't mind the wait!
I have the columbine you are looking for, I can bring some.
Thanks I thought that might be something you would have.
Holy moly!!! I am very glad I got to Fairweather right at 9. I was about the tenth car parked. When I left an hour later there were about 30 cars and the little pull carts were at a premium. Someone followed me to my car and helped me load up so she could have the cart. Another man followed us and I thought they were together, vuz he wanted the cart also. He thought the other woman and I were together. Too funny!!! I am thinking there won't be much left after today.
Paul, got you covered.
Ssgardener, got you covered
Critter, - they had only one left. I got it, but if you don't want it, I will keep it. You can see if it is full enough for you.
I got (Terp, you will be proud, I think) Rhododendron austrinum "earl's gold".
Athyrium 'ghost'. Fern
Vib. Carlesii 'Cayuga'
Acer palmatum 'villa taranto'
Athyrium Felix-femina 'cruciatum'. Crisscross fern
Austrinum earl's gold!! Awesome. Beautiful ferns, a viburnum and a Japanese maple. Really really nice.
Every yard needs a deciduous azalea. I have a dream...
I only wish I could have been with you. Can't wait to hear about it.
Thank you, Jan!
Wow, all these great plants, it sure sounds like everyone has beautiful yards! We should all bring some pictures of our yards to share!
Hello to all......I once again am so sorry that I haven't been able to catch up with this long pre-swap chat. I do show up from time to time and read a few comments. Anyway, I thought that I would mention here the items we have to share....I have done correctly and labeled them on the proper board, but haven't heard from anyone, so am hoping no one minds me listing here.....I am also asking that any requests for our plants be done through dmail as it will be easier for me to keep up with. We have...
Purple Butterfly Bush
Old Fashion Purple Iris
Jacob Cline Monarda
Yellow Archangel
Small Maple Trees
Red Aster Bush
Lambs Ear
Sedum Sarmentosan (sp?)
Black Eye Susan
Shasta Daisy
Aloe House Plants
Hope we entice some takers....Really excited about this shindig.......should be lots of fun....not too much longer now.....
Ruby
Does anyone have Midnight Rose Huechera????
Holly -- no, I don't have the A. Canadensis -- I'm glad Terp does. I was going to look for it for you at the club sale I went to today, but I didn't see it. It is a plant I have wanted as well -- I might get seeds....
I'll harvest some seeds for you happy.
Really? That'd be fabulous, Terp -- thanks!
Memory, thanks for all that info on the Jerusalem Artichokes. Now I'm definitely going to incorporate them into my diet, especially whereas I have so many of them.
Critter, I would like to try some of that Alsobia if you have enough. Looks interesting. That's one I haven't seen, either.
I have a bunch of different dwarf bearded iris available in different colors. One is all yellow, another all white, and there are more. I will post pics later tonight, as they're on my phone. I don't know the names of any of them. I also have Spanish Blue Bells in both blue and white, plenty of each. They're a spring bulb. I don't know the botanical name off hand, so couldn't locate them on PlantFiles. I'll post pics of those later, too.
Karen
Spanish Bluebells - Hyacinthoides hispanica
Okay, here are pics of the dwarf bearded iris that I have available. Since I have no names for them, I'll just call them by their colors. I'll call the first one white DBI, the second one will be caramel DBI, the third will be yellow standards with purple falls DBI, the 4th will be yellow DBI, and the fifth will be yellow with blue beard DBI.
