Lots a beautiful blooms, everyone!

Yes, Rosemary, I think there's room for all that stuff you want. Why limit yourself? I'm hoping to get to Garden In The Woods this coming week myself.

Will catch up more later.

Flowering trees & shrubs are beautiful......can't believe a lilac is in bloom already.

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

Appreciate the warnings about the lily beetles. Never entered my mind. Now I need to decide how to deal with them when I get back home.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yeah I know there is widespread use of pesticides.. but I have been trying to keep as natural as I can.. I am sure there are a lot of things they don't tell us about these products .. even the natural things can be harmful I am sure.. to some degree.. but just trying to do the right thing when I can

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Beautiful public garden, Jen. I love the group of redbuds(?) by the bench.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yes those redbuds were just beautiful!

I never had to chance to post the rest of the pics

Karen, I hope you post pics of Garden in the Woods. I'm tangled up in invasive vines today and doing our last allowed burn pile of the season. A stroll in the garden looks pretty remote to me!

Also I have to make time for the historic commission hearing right when we get our kids from the Massachusetts colleges. We got a notice saying the group home using a lovely old farmhouse next door intends "some minor building changes." I've heard them. They want to build a huge parking lot next to our property where we can now see old barn foundations. Have to think of some valid things to ask and say.

Very nice, Marilyn and Allison.

Here are a few more pics. One shot of a daff clump, and the rest are of the flowering quince shrubs that my last mother planted. I just cleaned out this area last month, as it was full of junk shrubs, raspberries and blackberries that were crowding out the quince. Looks so much better now, and really opens this area up.

Allison, that almost looks like choke cherry bark......love your lungwort. Karen, very pretty quince! I like that soft color.

South Hamilton, MA

the miniature dwarf irises are starting to bloom. the ones in flower are under 4" high. Hooray.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks RD.. maybe I will try and dig it out and pot it up then.. can't stay were it is

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

I was thinking of choke cherry also. When the leaves come out it will be clearer.

We did get a very short walk at Garden in the Woods yesterday. I have better shots from my own yard at the moment. Sulphur epimedium, Mary Flemming rhodi, King Alfred Daffs, cornus florida blooms developing and double daff that got away.

Trout lilies AKA adder's tongue, May apples and helle developing, stella and saucer magnolia, the white peony bed "before" shot--clearly in need of lots of ephemerals while the peony shoots come up, and looking up the hill toward the white peony bed.

oohh I like the double daff!!!

South Hamilton, MA

Our Trout Lilies (called 'dog Tooth violets) in our garden are just showing their leaves. they have white flowers.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

I'd love to find some white ones. Isn't it amazing how many different names a plant can have? Among people, its only outlaws that have so many names.

I can probably find the daff in my online DG journal if you're interested, Allison.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

RosemaryK, Love the trout lilies. I have tried and had no luck getting them to return. Not sure why, so I will enjoy your post of that fine clump

Could your double Narcissus be Telamonius Plenus or as it is known by a bunch of other names:
Synonyms:
'Centifolio', 'Double Van Sion', 'Guernsey Cabbage Daffodil', 'The Wilmer's Great Double Daffodil', 'Van Sion', 'Vincent Sion', 'Wilmer's Double Golden Daffodil', 'Wilmer's Great Double Daffodil', 'Wilmot's Double Daffodil'

I hope to get to Garden in the woods next week when we go to Tower Hill for their Narcissus and Primula show. Anyone going? Patti

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Just beautiful Ladies!!!!

Thomaston, CT

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Beautiful, Rosemary! I need to try some trout lilies. They're so pretty.

Patti, when is that daff and Primula show at Tower Hill? I we.nt to it once before, and I loved it.

The Trout lilies AKA Adders Tongue AKA Dog tooth violets are something I look for every year. This was planted 20 years ago as a single, and you can see it didn't spread much. After the first year it disappeared for several years but now all of a sudden it's multiplying. It is highly mulched by pine needles and oak leaves, so it must like that. I looked up somewhere that you have to dig about a foot deep to get enough to transplant, so the deep roots are why they're touchy.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

I could get lost in that deep purple of those iris, jen.

If my entry is correct, the double daff is Golden Ducat.

Thomaston, CT

Nice deep color on those iris!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Pretty iris, Jen!

Karen
