I love how the doubles look like roses or peonies. :)
Spring 2013
I also like their change in color.....very nice.
What unusual color
Lovely Rosemary! Your tulips I recognize 'Shirley' are the purple 'Negrita' ?
Beautiful Celeste!
So I read my journal of what was planted there. The only one that isn't identified as white is called 'Towering prism." Not much information. I think I'm the varment that put it on plantfiles. I know I wanted Negretta from OHG but I don't think I bought it.
Here are the others in that windswept bed: Wildhof--triumph-creamy white; silver dollar-triumph-white; shoonoord double early white (now past and too delicate for my conditions); Maureen--single late; Ivory floradale--Darwin; Blushing girl --single late ( I love it) and shirley and white emperor which could be found in a line-up. Most of them decided to bloom together this year so they look a bit too planned for what is supposed to be a natural area.
Next year, more hyacinths, amenone, crocus etc. The white daffs didn't stand up well. I want to put some native evergreen bushes nearby for protection and contrast too. The lilacs behind them need a few more years to really fill out.

My Forsythia, it's 3 - 4 years old and has only ever produced a few blooms. This year it took off and is putting on a nice show. It will get a good hair cut after it's done blooming. ;)
White trillium is just starting to bloom. This is the one that turns pink as it ages....whats not to love?
One pale yellow tulip with just a hint of magenta on the edges...I have no idea where it came from. :)
so many pretties!!!
Thanks Rosemary! Last ones, didn't mean to over whelm...things just popped!!!
If you may remember, I planted a "River of Blue" in my brothers memory last fall. There are 500 muscari, 218 tulips, 54(?) daffs and 50 dutch iris's. They have started to come up and I am quite pleased I can see the "river" curving thru the middle. :)
1. is looking straigh on
2. is looking from the opposite end.
3. some of the muscari has started to bloom, there are mostly dark blue ones but a few light blue and white were thrown in also. The white are blooming first.
Thanks Allison. :)
I love it when they naturalize. :) I'm hoping mine will fill in the gaps after a few years.
there will come a day I will post here - I think :)
Looking forward to that show of blooms.
Your Tahiti are nice and orange this year...hope mine are. Some years they have been less than eye catching but they do multiply well. Your azaleas look wonderful!!!!
Very nice. My Tahiti did not do well this year.
Our Tahities were inherited. They are probably over 20 years old.
Pixie: Yes they do change from year to year. These are almost out of bloom.
Lovely smilebox album. Are there 2 bears? I had not noticed it there is a head or just paws. We have a winged lion, not carved. The builders working on the house have piled their equipment at the base of the slope, so the approach to the bed isn't scenic at the momment. It is on a small hill where a path had been cut. Rather shady but grape hyacinth 'Valerie Ennis' is still in flower.
No ,one bear a Mom and her cub.
Thanks for the tour. Love to see your momma bear and cub finally again surrounded by something other than snow. Patti
So it is a 2 bear carving. I had not noticed before. I didn't mean 2 different carvings. But then you show it at a distance since you are concentrating on the great flower design of of the bed.
Looking good y'all!!!!
That river is going to be awesome, Celeste!
Rosemary, which Iris is this one? http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=9508090
Filling in nicely Jo...love that narcissus Tahiti
Oh that is 'Flower Shower' dwarf iris, Jen. I photographed it earlier when it was starting to open and this pic is at full voltage. Interestingly it waited a couple of years to show itself.
Wish I could just teleport myself to see everyone's gardens in person! Such lovely blossoms.

Pretty, Jen

LOL.. those were $40.00 each .. and I bought me a $20.00 one.. mine didn't have the plectranthus in it.. but you know I already stole cuttings from them..hehehe
