I thought someone coming to the RU was new to the area? I was thinking of trying to gather up some extra plants for her (?).
Cheryl
2013 N Central TX RU April 21st in Arlington #2 TRADE
Dennis, got you for the Snowcaps.
Cheryl, it is GF Waco. who is new here and has very few plants and a new yard to fill.
Ok thanks.
I will be bringing extra stuff that isn't swapped if it is already on my "go" list. A couple of potted lantana, I just stuffed them back in the greenhouse as they are all leafed out, a fair number of mystery iris - I'll lift just before roundup so some might be in bloom and color identifiable. whatever else I see that I have too much of, but those are the main things
Hey Patrob,
can I have some of your Pencil Cactus, Agave, and Yucca, If not already claimed?
Thanks, Austin
austin, would you like another pencil cactus? I have an extra that is about 2 ft tall.
Sure that would be awesome!
Thanks!
Austin
I've got you down, Austin, for pencil cactus, agaves, and yucca.
Thanks!
--Austin
Dennis, could I have some sedum?
Sheila, I'd love some crown of thorns.
Sybram, you are coming!!!! Great! See you there.
Some sedum is yours!
I will also have a limited quantity of three other varieties, if they survive tonight. One is a bright yellow in the spring. The other two are green varieties.
Sybil....you can get crown of thorns from me no problem.
covenantgarden, could I please have 1 or2 of the French Hollyhocks and 1 or 2 of the peach ones as well? I would also like an orange daylily.

Cheryl, it was me. I am sorry guys I have been off list for a bit, I am sick in bed trying to get well so I can go back to work. Coughing is giving me a headache. I had pneumonia in January and now this chest cold. ugh, good thing I like my couch, we are getting to be real acquainted.
I will post more in a few days after this is over. Thanks everyone!
Angel
I don't remember if I ask this already or if I just thought about it and forgot....
Does anybody have and succulents or cacti cuttings? I have looked at most of your trade threads but can't tell if some things are succulents or not... I'm not to savvy with the plant files... :/
Thank you lots!
--Austin
I would love them, Dennis.
Thanks, Sheila.
Austin, I am putting you down for the crown of thorns. It is a cactus of sorts, it can take all of the heat and dry condiditons but not the freezes. It would need to be brought in when temps started to drop. I have had the moma plan for about 7 years I believe. Love it...potted on my deck in full sun all summer.
steadycam, I have you down for an orange daylily, 2 French hollyhocks, and 2 hollyhock seedlings.
Thanks, CG.
Thanks Sheila! That sounds great!
Life is getting better over here I actually got off the couch today LOL. I planted some green pepper seeds don't know if they will take but if they do I should have about 6 or 7 starters by the RU. I will keep everyone informed and add to my list if they take.
I will also still have about 4 bags that I can trade with someone. I will bring one for a door prize and one to steadycam so that is 6 bags total. Anyone who wants the other 4 bags let me know - take a look at my list for trades.
I took apart an old couch and am using the base for one of my raised gardens. I don't have any money for wood to make any more so anyone with anything I can use would be great. I don't have much to trade but if you have something we can talk :)
Thanks,
Angel
Angel: what do you want for your raised bed? Vegetables or herbs?
Austin: I have some small starts of sedum ,aloe and ghost plant if you want. What zone are you. One sedum is hardy to 8b.
Bananna18 - in my garden I have plotted some herbs and some veggies. I am concerned that I don't have enough material for the bed itself. I have one frame that is made of the couch base which measures only 4 inches high. I probably need something to make it a bit higher.
I have tomatoes, chives, lettuce, spinach, carrots, onions, green peppers (hopefully) and will have Kale and whatever I get at RU in April. I have a potato bin so that is not an issue.
Just concerned about the depth of the frame I have now. We will be putting it in next Sunday to see if I have enough height. I might have to just use that one for herbs and low growing plants and get something else for the veggies.
I was just thinking (ok looking on Pinterest) and have seen corrugated metal, filing cabinets, wood drawers...and a ton of other inventive things used for raised beds. I thought if anyone has any of this stuff they want to do away with I would be more than happy to recycle it into a raised bed. I have such a small yard and can't "dig" a garden, that containers and raised beds are my only answer.

Angel what are the measurements on the couch frame?
I will be cleaning up the garage soon so would love to pass on what ever might work. What would be the maximum height? I think I have a cupboard cabinet.
Spring is a great time to look for discarded fencing. When the winds blow down fences, I used to get them to use for numerous arts and crafts items I did back then. If you see a fencing company replacing a fence ask for the boards that aren't rotten or split. That is less they have to haul off.
SteadyCam: The couch frame is 7 ft long, 3.5 feet wide but only 6 inches in height.
Bananna18: I am not sure, I never gave it much thought. I would think that just about anything would work as long as it is not 6 feet tall and weighs 180 lbs LOL. Maybe a picture before the RU might be prudent. I am bringing my little truck but I have plants as well. Dmail me if you have pictures then I can see if I can make it work. Does that sound good?
Sheila: I have thought of that, I am going to talk to the owner of our park and see if he has any connections (he knows everyone) I will keep you informed of my findings.
Thanks everyone for your help. I am so excited about my new yard.
Angel
There is a new house being built a block over from me and the waste dumpstr is still there. I'll see what is in there that you might could use.

Sheila, is the Sheffield Daisy still available? If so, may I have it?
Pattie, do you still have columbine seedlings and leaves? If so, may I have a couple of the columbine and the leaves?
Smockette, what size buckets do you have? I'm interested!
Marty, do you still have the redbud seedling? If so, may I have it?
Thanks!
I just dug up some strawberry begonia, if anyone is interested.
Dennis, I'd like to try some strawberry begonia.
Dennis, I would love to have some strawberry begonia! perfect for my porch containers.

Hi, all!
I hope I'm not too late to join this very exciting trade (it's like the New York Stock Exchange here!)
Due to health, upheaval, heat waves, & drought, my range of selections is limited, but what I have, I have tons of.
Much of this is old plants I saved from a demolition site where 3 old houses were torn down.
old white iris albicans, literally boxes & boxes of it
old yellow iris that blooms with albicans
vinca vines for shade, both green & variegated
nandina, small rooted offsets
spuria iris, probably Iris Orientalis
tree trimmings for mulch
tall Mexican petunia, purple
mother of millions succulent, don't know how much of it survived new puppy, but I'll have some at least.
1 gallon nursery pots
I realize that a lot of the plants on your lists have already been traded, but I couldn't keep up with it all, so if I've listed a "want" below that's already gone, please forgive me, & if you want to save it for something other than what I have I understand.
Also, I've listed everything that I like from each person's "have" list, to give the person "room" to offer me what (s)he would be willing to trade for whatever I can offer.
I don't wanna be a big ole pig, I just have this addiction...

steadycam3
camphor laurel
hyacinth bean

When you say "nettle", are you talking about the silvery thing with sharp leaves that attack you like a porcupine? If so, I think I can set you up in the nettle business!
frostweed
turk's cap
prairie verbena
pink skullcap
bananna
duelberg salvia
I have some "small" agave, in that it's in little pots, but I think it's the kind that dominates the universe.
Gypsi
lantana confetti
Tazetta narcissus

If there's time & room in your life/garden/car, I'd like a start of St John's wort & Indigo Spires salvia.
I have tons of irises, & I'm pretty sure there's a datura out there, just the plain white one.

Stuttgart canna
chocolate mint
trailing lantana, lavender
crinum
rouxcrew
rain lilies
newtonsthirdlaw
salvia B & B
heartleaf skullcap
I know someone had Cuban oregano, but I lost track.
Other things I can bring if someone asks:
I may be able to use a friend's van for the swap.
If so, I have a rigid pond thing for which I once had high ambitions.
It's about 4' across, maybe 2' deep, round, with a couple of steps or shelves.
glassware for parties or crafts;
I have (that I can think of) 1 party set in frosted glass with a leaf pattern, & 1 in cobalt blue, as well as some odds & ends, like antique sugar bowls, tea pots, gravy boats, coffee or tea cups, saucers or dessert plates.
I'm looking forward to seeing/meeting everyone at the swap!
edited to add:
found 3 kinds of seeds!
yellow mangel beets
sunflower (these are the big beautiful ones that have one bloom per stalk; farmers grow them because they never have to be watered, & they're gorgeous!)
Black Eyed Susan
& if anyone has Althea/Rose of Sharon seedlings or rooted cuttings, I'd be happy to trade almost anything for them!

waco, I checked the dumpster and it was full of dry wall. I'll keep looking. We have a month to go.
Stephanie, I have more then one redbud seedling and I'll put your name on one.
Yesterday, I went to two places scheduled to be torn down/hauled away and I got cuttings of Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, (Brunfelsia). Im putting them to root and adding to my list. I also got a NOID rose cutting, pink very fragrant and the bloom is 4.5" across. Ive put it to root. I got a cutting of something I cant identify. The leaves are very wrinkle-y and the blooms are about 1-1.5" and cup shaped, strong yellow. Bush was about 5' tall, dark green. I will get a photo of the rose later because Im batting about 10% on rooting roses.

Welcome, Sylvia. I'd like to speak up for the pond thing. And yes to all the things you asked for on my list and yes, stinging nettle is what I want for the host plant for Question Mark butterfly cats. I would also like a spuria iris.

Hi, Sylvia! I have you down for narrow leaf gayfeather and mealy cup sage. I'd love to have some of your old yellow irises. I have white and two-toned purple that bloom a month ahead of the named irises, and the yellow would sure be nice with them.
Sylvia I don't have any BB salvos it ho scullcap left.
Cheryl
