Food for spring

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

No, but I sure tried!

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

I copied the Panera shrimp salad sandwiches from taste and it came out just as good. Feeling confident tonight, I tried Legal's crab and ham and asparagus roll-ups from their cookbook and they were only so so

Thomaston, CT

You'll just have to go back to Legal & try them again, Rosemary.....tell your DH it's important research......

Westbrook, CT(Zone 6a)

Tonight DW and I collaborated on an interesting menu:

Sauteed chicken breast and sweet potato in peach salsa atop jasmine rice. Chef salad with arugula and pepper dew.

Thomaston, CT

That sounds good.....it's so nice that both of you cook. My late husband only made it into the kitchen to eat! Beef stew on the menu for tonight.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

last night we had a picnic with our Lions Club. we had fresh Walleye. Yum!!!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Grilled wild sockeye salmon and scallops, also "grilled" tater tots.
sweet corn and fresh picked green beans
Rainier cherries
The seafood was awesome.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Sounds good Deb, everything but the scallops. :)
This is what was for breakfast....strawberry pancakes with fresh whip cream. The strawberries are picked fresh from the farm up the road. :)

That looks yummy, I had blueberry pancakes with fresh blackberries topped with raspberry syrup at cracker barrel this morning.

Thomaston, CT

Oh, yum! Both sound wonderful. Rainier cherries are my favs, Debi! I'm making potato salad for today's picnic....

My son, Garret, eating corn after he polished off a lobstah....I stuck with chicken & ribs......

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I would of ate what Garret ate. :)

Thomaston, CT

I know....I was thinking of you....he took 2 home with him!

Westbrook, CT(Zone 6a)

Had some leftover pulled pork from sandwich making in the fridge. Zapped a potato and put the hot PP on top. With veggie and mixed garden salad, an easy summer meal.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

YUMMM

Thomaston, CT

Picked the last of my peas......thinking to make a cold soup with them.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

just bought some peas, picked the last of mine awhile ago
love em raw best

Thomaston, CT

Mine were too tough to eat raw.... I cooked them about 10 min with onion & garlic, cloves, & white balsamic....put it through blender with low fat sour cream....topped with fresh dill.....

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

that sounds good

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

steak, baked potato and spinach tonight.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Cleaned out the frig. Took some things to DIL. Toes are painted, ready to leave on a jet plane in the morning. Will be gone til the 30th. Visiting grandies in TX and OR. Woohoo!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

safe trip!

Picked some peas yesterday too....how many pea plants do I need to feed a family? I'm just not getting enough!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

a lot
I'm pretty much the only one to eat them here but maybe because I never have enough! I only had 8 plants d/t space

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

When I googled that question I found different answers. It depends on how much you like them and if you would like to freeze them.

Thomaston, CT

Jan, have an awesome time! Jen, I plant three packages just for myself......I would plant a pound when feeding a family....

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Wow that's a lot! I need more room

Westbrook, CT(Zone 6a)

My peas are giving out as well. I planted two batches a week apart. I think next year I'll try 2 or 3 weeks apart to see if I can stretch the season a bit. (I only plant snap and sugar pod varieties).

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

whoa...guess I need to expand

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Anyone love those ice cream cones..has vanilla ice cream, chocolate coating and nuts on top?
Well those were always my favorites, Josh & the girls too. I hated it when the cone dripped out the bottom crease. Not a problem anymore!!!! I ate one of these in 4 nights!!!!!!!!!

I used to like all those ice cream treats until they started making them with all other kinds of things besides milk, cream and sugar

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Thank you. So far, we worked several hours clearing out beds. Almost faked losing my balance so I could fall into the pool. Heehee. Tomorrow, more of the same.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Just bought an ice cream maker attachment for my mixer, will try it out tomorrow.

Thomaston, CT

I have an ice cream maker, keep forgetting to use it....guess I'm getting lazy! I do like fresh lemon ice cream, though.....

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I had an old one that used ice and salt, this one is a bowl that you freeze, then use with a stand mixer.

Thomaston, CT

Mine has a bowl that you freeze, but it has it's own motorized base......

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I have an ice cream maker in my attic I am NOT bringing it down...I'd weigh 300lbs!
