Never had ramps.
Food for spring
Ramps, heehee.. One of the janitors at college told me that when you eat ramps out of every pore of your body there is a lingering odor. I'm thinking that you need to eat a lot of them for that to happen. My favorite was when it was mixed in with ham and beans. They would serve corn bread and a lot of sides, too.
Made mac salad with tuna & deviled eggs......Mom's had to be made with orzo.....
Bratwurst on grill
ham steaks on grill, baked taters, brussel sprouts and con on the cob.
Went to lunch with a friend....had ribs, coleslaw, sweet potato fries......don't have to cook til tomorrow!
pizza dough is in the bread machine.
I love sweet potato fries
So does my brother's GF, she'll eat them for breakfast!!!
I picked up a frozen luncheon bowl of Bibimbap (a Korean rice, meat and veggie dish) at Trader Joes last week and tried it out yesterday. Pretty good, though I've never had it in a restaurant so I don't know what to compare it to. If you want to try it, go easy on adding the hot sauce. I dumped it all in, and since I rate picante by how much my nose runs, this was a three-tissue dish.
Incidentally, Bibimbap (literally "mixed rice") is on a list of the World's 50 most delicious foods:

This concludes the geography lesson for today.
Thanks, Don......I've never heard of that dish, but I'm not into hot stuff, so I'll pass.....
Not in any order but over the last 5 days i've had:
Grilled Lemon/Pepper/Dijon Salmon
Slow cooked ribs slathered in BBQ sauce
Roast Herb Chicken
Marinated N.Y. Sirloins
Pot Roast
Mashed taters
Baked taters
FF/ Onion Ring
Pasta Salad
Boiled taters
Fiddleheads
Brussell Sprouts
Garden Salad
Corn on the Cob
Turnip Cabbage Carrots
Coleslaw
Pea's
Brownie
Chocolate Eclair
Ice Cream Sundae
YUM!!! I may do breakfast for dinner. Bacon-eggs-hash browns.
just gained 5 pounds reading Celeste's list
Does anyone (beside me) eat FIDDLEHEADS?
you forgot to let me try em.. I would have though.. LOL
Salivated reading Celeste's list
I've never had fiddleheads, would try anything once
Last night I did sausage and peppers and linguini
today needs to be a fast meal kids have their spring musical tonight
hubby loves hot food, he measures it by the beads of sweat on his bald head
I tried fiddleheads once....maybe I didn't prepare them correctly, but it was hard getting them down.... Pixie, you are a chef! My asparagus is starting to come in, so I'll do something with it, maybe cream of asparagus soup....Saw a nice easy recipe in the Courant this morning.....take russet baking tatoes, & make 1/2 inch cuts, but not all the way through.....put one tsp. melted butter, & tsp. olive oil on each, salt & pepper....bake at 425 for 20-25 min. Supposed to end up like french fries.....

I've done potatoes like that RD and LOVE them!!!
jimmied up my chicken soup with peas & asparagus
Never tried. My understanding is, if you pick wild ones, you better be sure of the species. Some are not safe.
I've been making those sliced baked potatoes for years, they look pretty too.
I made a stuffed chicken breast with a broccoli and cheese filling, usually pound out the chicken breasts, this time just sliced the breast and butterflied it, so much easier and the stuffing even stayed in. Looked better too.
Sounds yummy, Deb.....better than Wegman's!
Pixie: With that menu list, you're going to have to change your name to Eclectic.
Contributed a package Indian veggie (Punjabi Eggplant) to DW's fish dinner. So-so---eggplant was overwhelmed by coriander/cumin/etc spices. Nowhere near as good as the eggplant curry I occasionally get from a Middletown restaurant.
If it's raining on a Friday, I may find that restaurant, Don....I take my dog to Middletown for chemo every Friday.....if the day is nice I head to Hamonnasset. Am making from scratch fried rice tonight.
went out to dinner with a friend had salmon and asparagus, grilled zucchini, carrots and red potatoes
had for the first time..... Beef Carpaccio...oh YUM YUM YUM!!!!
was it good.. never been brave enough to try it
Me either....like my beef charcoal colored.....

It was wonderful
No raw meat for me thanks!!
Made stuffed shells, sausage & meatballs...sister brought an antipasta, cousin brought ice cream cake....
we had an easy day with Chinese we picked up for the party.. but I made poached pears for my GF niece.. holy cow I am in love!!.. I never had one before.. was really good!!!.. everyone else had ice cream cake & a fruit tart.. Michele left early and I felt bad.. She didn't say much to Randy while she was here and wouldn't talk to me on the phone.. life does stink sometimes
Sorry to hear that about Michelle. We had Chinese too. :)
what is the best tool to core a pear that is hard like that?... my paring knife was not good enough.. was a struggle for sure.. was an accident waiting to happen
I just cut the pear in quarters, & cut out core.....don't know about keeping them whole & coring them.....
Osso buco!. First day with noodles, 2d day with rice. I think the rice soaked up the sauce better.
Haven't had osso buco in years!
Ham & scalloped potatoes, asparagus from my garden.....
Never heard of osso buco
I planted asparagus this year, I read not to harvest the first year, there was one stalk that is now flowering? Should I cut it off? I didn't know if what I read was from starting from seed?
