Things that make you go "hmmmm" or Say what???!!!! Pt 6

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

It's different reading or hearing it than seeing it. It was too much for me to watch. They were definitely violent times.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i agree celeste - they were ALWAYS at war in the name of God, every episode has violence in it.

Thomaston, CT

Yes, the Old Testament is very violent.....many tribes were totally wiped out.

Sadly yes. The Darwin method of 'correction' has its merit.

Now as for the ...men... who held those girls.....give em ''the wire.'' NOW.

I don't hate horseradish - but it can take over a dish. ...So, yesterday when ordering a grilled panini called "cowboy" ( sliced steak, arugula, roasted red pepper, sharp cheddar and horseradish on homemade focaccia ) I said "hold the horseradish". I wanted to taste the cheese and other favors. Of course out it comes with my hubby's plate - and of course it had Taaaaa Dahhhhhhh - yup. So I sent it back and watched my husband eat his meatball panini and balsamic dressing side salad. He was almost done with his food (he doesn't rush either) when my plate came out --- yea!! No horseradish --- -----and no cheese either --- it must have run away with the balsamic that was supposed to be on the side salad. The manager who had been out several times came over after we paid the bill and said sorry and could he shake my hand! The sandwich was good - I was happy to pay for it - but the responses from staff was a bit shocking. The waitress said " oh, did you want the cheese WITHOUT the horseradish? " Ha ha sometimes I do have peanut butter without jelly and I wear shoes with no socks and vice versa.

I think sometimes people just don't listen...or too many assumptions are made...I don't understand people

I don't know if I mentioned it before but there is a really old house about 8 houses down from us, this place is falling apart...I'm really surprised it made it thru the hurricane...people DO live there...there are pieces of wood missing where at night you can see their lights shining out of and I've seen birds fly into these holes...I can't even imagine what the inside looks like, paint is chipping, shutters crooked, fence is falling down except the 4 new bright white resin panels that the installed next to the fence that is falling down(why not just take it down?) well last year someone decided to paint the house...looks like the spray painted it with white paint but just the front and not the whole front(I really should try and get a pic of it) well I was driving past last week and now the front is blue! now mind you just the front lower part not the triangle peak.....JUST THE FRONT
Here I drew a pic to give you an idea, but of course mine looks better cause you can't see all the wood that is coming off of it

Oh my gosh it's like putting lipstick on a pig

miss- the waitress deserves a wet noodle lashing.

Jen...some people... My mother knew an older woman and her daugher who were living a kind of Grey Gardens- Bouvier thing...Loads of land, house had a fire, never repaired the roof!!!!,...etc...just nuts o. Yet the granddaughter went to a very costly private school. Doubt she ever had friends over!

The next street over from my childhood home had a 'cat lady' house....similar ..

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

We have many like that here and in Pa where my daughter lives _ oh boy. The houses are just so darn old...the area economy is awful and folks have no money to fix. It is a cycle of disintegration. -- band aids and more disintegration. I wonder what the insides are like... It is overwhelming to think about what needs to be done. The house my son bought....the couple that sold did similar - painted up as high as they could reach! And with a semigloss or satin on flat! Same color and so it wasn't as shocking.

Thomaston, CT

Our church Youth Group is heading to Ohio, to a depressed area, to help seniors repair their homes....drop in the bucket, I know, but every repair helps.....

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

And also having worked with seniors who have little support - it makes them feel so good inside and hopeful and connected. God Bless those wonderful kids.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

putting lipstick on a pig LOL!!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

That's great Robin

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

So happy for the guilty verdict for that monster in PA.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

me too!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

AMEN!!! I let out a cheer when I heard it. We, society, have cheapened the value of life. It saddens and sickens me..

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ditto! Hang by his....

Thomaston, CT

Agreed! Whole case made me nauseous.....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, if there was ever a case that cried out for the death penalty...though even that would be too easy.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

yes it seems so odd that the death penalty has been of recent debate in our state, we may have just gotten rid of it, and then these cases that just seem so deserving of it...

Thomaston, CT

Death penalty law is a real mess here in CT. It was abolished last year...then we had the Newtown Massacre....also, now, the inmates on Death Row are petitioning to have their sentences changed to life since technically we don't have the death penalty any more....& those prisoners would include those that murdered the Pettit Family....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ugh - by waiving any appeal, he is spared the death penalty! Too bad those babies did not have a choice...

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I had to google PA guilty verdict and 2 recent death penalty cases came up, the babies, and a guy who shot his mom, sister and aunt.

I am guilty, for not being here. Throw me over the bus. 2 stores, 3 stores, now I am getting the boot to 1 store. Gonna vent. I have worked for this company 9 months. Never missed a day or been late. Put my butt on the line to cover the 3rd store when people cant take care of 1.

Gave up my greenhouse and now I get the 10 hr per week - I am very upset.

Sorry but Vented.

Sherrie aka schickenlady

& I worked 52 hours last week. I guess I am the DUHH

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Sorry to hear that Sherrie!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Well that stinks, hopefully they'll see the error of their ways

Thomaston, CT

Have been wondering how you were, Sherrie.....hope things settle down for you....we are here to listen!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

That stinks Sherrie!

Saw a guy yesterday outside of a Five Guys Burgers on his phone with his latex gloves on having a smoke...hope he put on a clean pair went he went back in!
