She's about to... 68! New year... New thread!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hey Sally...when do you leave for Texas?

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Digger I lost several older trees last year much to my dismay. I lost a tulip tree I had in the ground for 5 years and a mugo pine that had been in the ground for at least 10 or more years. The colorado blue spruce is looking pretty ragged and it had been there 15 or more....my sweetie DH bought me 5 apple trees the end of June! I think they are still alive, but it was a challenge last year to keep them watered and happy.... My peach tree last year and my pear tree just bloomed like crazy and had some great fruit on them.

We are suppose to warm up to the 70's Friday and Saturday and remain pretty warm for a few days. I need to get the gardens cleaned up.

Dahlonega, GA

Moon , this year we will leave Sunday morning and visit Gymgirl in Houston and swap some things , I hope Bubba Mo city can join us . We'll drive into La that night and rest awhile . Be in your area Mon morning late , or afternoon , early . D-mail your number in case I don't have it with me and maybe we can hook up for a visit and yak for a bit more than last time. It was so hot that day , someone had to stay in the van with the windows open for the dogs ., Hugs PS , I'm in Texas , headed for Georgia this trip. We came here in Oct by way of Monroe La to stop by Mother's grave , didn't get down I-10 .

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

The mind and the body have entirely different rhythms...and neither of them marches together...GRIN

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Anyone who believes that 60+ is the new 40, is out of their mind...unless they were nearly sedentary at 40...grin

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Sounds very familiar Happ and Sally....grin after 41 years of marriage it all sort of runs together...

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Boy I hear ya there...the less drama the better....something to be said for the comfort of the familiar.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

A friend at work is turning 40..... I have made 40 signs saying 40 to put on the walls of the office, I made 3 other signs saying 40 is 18 years old with 22 years experience, 87,600 hours until you turn 50, least if I remember right that was the number of hours...rolf, then the Lordy Lordy she is 40.... then I took a bag of hershey kisses and took neon orange masking tape cut in circles and put on the bottom of the kisses with 40 written all over them and a few other short saying, then made a survival kit for 40 with bengay and stuff like that from the dollar store.... Last I made a key chain, took a brass disk and engraved M is 40, then 1973 2013 on another, then took a 1973 penny and put it on the back of the disk that says 1973 2013. Now last is the 40 balloons. I think I have managed to do it all way under 20.00 which was my goal. I am excited her birthday is Wednesday and really hope it turns out have way good when it goes in her office.....well I did it all under 20.00 if I don't talk about the cheesecake I need to buy. Great thing she comes in early like I do so I am going to keep the door locked so she will have to call me to get in....sneaky sneaky.... rofl. She is just a sweetie course after I do this I may not be on her good list...rofl.

Had to work most of today, too bad her birthday wasn't Monday I could of got it all done today....oh well. Going to stay late Tuesday to get it done.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I am sure your friend will be surprised....my oldest son celebrated his 40th on March 7th.....he said No Hoopla...it was just another birthday....grin.....he got the OH Lordy jokes from his co-workers too.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Aww Joyce, that is an awsome thing to do. What a sweetheart you are.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Just checking in to say hello to all you great gals. been some time, but I think of you often. Hope you all are well and having the best times of your life. Ray and I are better than last year this time and that's a lot to be thankful for.
Had the best time Thurs, Fri. and Sat. A large Yard Sale here complete with my Sister, Daughter and a best friend like no other. (hello new Google). We sold lot's of stuff and had lot's of fun. I also sold Angel Trumpets. Planning a do over in May, 3rd week I think.
Love and hugs to each of you.
Stay well, and stay happy
Faye

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Faye, so glad to see tou posting, and hear your both doing better. Glad to hear you had a good yard sale.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Sounds like alot of fun, and so glad things are going good for you this year. It is so much your and Rays turn to have a great year. Funny to think of you all having a garage sale since we are still spitting snow here...rofl.

I think I only have 1 angel trumphet left, I am taking care of my cat, my Mom's cat, and my sisters cat, all in my garden room so I had to let the angel trumphets go, was afraid the cats might chew on them this winter, so far the only thing they keep chewing on is a papyrus for the pond.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Ok I decorated a friends office for her 40th birthday today. The picture isn't great and you can't get the full effect because there are 40 black ballons hanging from the ceiling. She was so surprised and just busted out laughing......I even stuck signs in her desk drawers saying 40. She laughed and laughed said she needed that because she had woke up a little depressed about turning 40. I was really tired last night when I was doing it and thought how stupid I was for doing it, but she was so happy it made it all worth it.

Great job!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Sometimes it is the little things that mean the most...I am sure you made her day happier.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Oh JOyce, You Made Her Day, I am sure!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I have never done anything like that before, our office isn't exactly a fun place. She went home that night and her family and friend had decorated the outside of her house and were waiting out in the yard for her to top the hill......they had stood out in the cold for 45 min because they didn't know when she would be arriving, so she had a great day and I am so happy for her.

Suppose to get between 1 and 2 inches of snow today and more on Saturday....wowzer. Maybe I will get something accomplished. Would like to start some seeds but I am good about talking about it but not getting much done.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear the party continued at home!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Just to say hi and show you a mystery marvel beautiful Amaryllis. Dear friend Susan came in Jan. and brought me this huge Amaryllis that was ready to pot. Did that while Susan was here. It grew , and grew from Jan. to March without blooming. Now, Susan came March 14 just in time to see the blooming begin. When Susan left on the 17th it had 2 full blooms and 2 half open blooms. On 7:50 Mon. Morning the 18th we heard a crash and when we found crash location, it was in the sun room. The Amaryllis had been on the table in the same place, but as the last 2 blooms opened to full, the weight made it top heavy and it crashed to the floor. Think maybe this was truly a Susan plant. Bloomed for her and crashed when she left. The beauty has been re-potted and back on he table, and we're still loving it.
Big hugs to all
AND Susan hurry back. we love having you here.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Oooh pretty blooms, Faye. That sooze is a sweetie.

I am waking up from my winter hibernation and have to come back to DG in the spring. I sort of liked it better (?!) when I was out of work on doctor's orders and spent my days here. Now I am spending my days fretting over my school work. Tired of fretting.

Beautiful blue sky with some wispy clouds. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

A.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Hello all...and
Amanda you were missed, (yard sale) and boy did we need you. Next yard sale is 3rd weekend in May. Hope you can bring your junque and join us.
Today was such a beautiful Spring day. We worked all day outside re-doing and expanding a flower corner. Had to move the brick that was the liner and replaced them with landscaping blocks. I unloaded and placerd, from the car, 60 block and 30 bags of garden soil. Not done yet but boy did we get a good start. If I can move , will continue in the morning.. OHHHHHHHHH Susan, lol if ever I need you....lol, it's all the time!
Love & hugs to each of you.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
