Katie, you said it was 9 degree's? That is cold! Hope your plants don't freeze? Sorry to hear your not feeling well, rest is the best thing for you now. Listen to your body, it will tell you when your feeling better.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends
Is the day over yet??? Lordy I need a nap, know if I push forward just a bit more I'll make it through the day and perhaps feel well enough to accomplish something tonight rather than make the couch cushions sag.
Sorry to hear you are all having inclement weather, seems odd ours is improving while yours is not. Poor Sailor would cry and cry when thundering, sure do miss her!
Sure hoping Mary is ok, unusual for her not to be on the midnight shift..Mary if you are lurking we miss you.
Debbie, what is a Bill Crosby cake??? good for diets? Does it hurt Debbie to have them removed?
had lunch with my cousin Linda, she wants to do a king size rag quilt but doesn't sew. Brought me the flannel so I can cut into squares and we shall go from there..she also will be going in for operation on her wrist/hand in a week or so and cannot use her right hand, so ragging is out of the question, guess I shall be doing it for her..don't mind, really!
trying to focus here and feel my eyes closing..lol
maybe a nap is in order
That is a lot of ragging for a king size quilt! Glad you have the machine to do it for you!
Betty, Bill Cosby the comedian did a skit in his show....and also on the Cosby Show on how it is OK to feed the kids chocolate cake
for breakfast. It has eggs, it has milk, it has wheat.....its a well balanced meal for breakfast!!! SO, thats what I had for breakfast by Cosby Rules.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZlCPQur4hc
Love it Debbie!
Lol, guess I've done the Crosby thing as well from time to time with a big glass of milk!
Debbie, are you getting these winds..just starting up, can't believe how much the snow has compacted today.
Betty, the winds are horrible and the lake really churned up. I came home on the parkway from Rochester this morning and it was smooth as can be. Now it has huge waves and very choppy. Some gusts at the airport 50 mph. Only snow around is what has been frozen in mounds from plowers or snowblowers.
Just back from Walmart, had a lemon meringue pie to celebrate my Moms birthday...gosh miss her. She would have been 77, a year and a day younger than her "Elvis".
Bet Debbie she is dancing with Elvis as her birthday celebration..Lordy you sure know how to treat yourself, now you've made me hungry for the same.
Kyle just dropped in from work, quite the chatter. Told me he had a great vacation, did para sailing, in a case underwater with sharks and stingrays, not quite sure how they do that but he enjoyed.
Said the ice only has about 3" then went on to say that the water is so low that the Christian Island Ferry cant run so the native Indian students are having problems getting home weekends. I said why is the water so low, he said he heard Americans took it, I started to laugh.
ROFL Yes, we are hearing water is low also. From lack of snow last couple years the lakes are all low. As of right now we are 20 inches "in the hole" on snowfall!
I have seen the shark cages. They are so cool! Don't know if I would do it though, but they have a huge metal cage lowered into the water, you have to swim down and get into it....and they let you take pictures and even feed the sharks. What an amazing experience that must have been! I hope someone had an underwater camera.
siiiiiiigh - today it was so warm it rained!! yup, the sidewalks were wet with it!
Tonight we have a blizzard! It's really a white-out - we're home, safe & sound, but we were out when it started (at a friend's house, visiting)
Going to be interesting going to work on the bus tomorrow...... walking to the bus - about 15 min several different times going to and home from work..... yikes
Morning all,
Never thought to ask Kyle if he got to take photo's, will have to do so!
Not my kind of thing either.
Susan its almost disappointing isn't it that we are not having our proper seasons..worry that with having almost spring like weather that we shall pay this summer. Bundle up warm on this morning!
I won't be posting today, as we are going to San Angelo for my back Dr. We will be back home late tonight.
Safe travels LindaKay, I hope you get some relief and some good news.
We are supposed to get in mid 40's today here, no snow.
It is 39 F and 9 C here. Tony excitedly told me about frost around his house. So far most of my plants seem to be OK. One bean/nut plant is fading; the second is hanging in and I have more seeds.
Got a nice email from my electric car guy in Costa Rica and he'll be sending me more seeds.
I need to get to work on the garden but it's too cold so I'll work on planter in my bedroom with heat and TV until it warms up a bit.
Safe travels and lots of pain relief, LK.
hugs, katie
wow, even though we are thousands of miles apart we are sharing much of the weather..amazing this morning, took off my jacket, much too warm. Katie, just never thought Mexico got that cold where you would be worried about frost.
Debbie, think next Saturday(19th) I and Suzanne might take a run to Buffalo, if not them then perhaps just me..have a few things I want done..of course depends on the weather..will know more next week, safe travels
Lindakay, hope you gt answers today as to what can be done..know how dealing with back pain is a *&^&*
OMG you will never believe what I forgot to do, knew I was turning 65 in March but no big deal, only a few months older than I am right now but I should have send the forms in for my OAS pension that comes when you hit 65..says you should mail in about 6 months before...was looking for something this morning and found the forms.
Will go and mail it special delievery on my lunch hour. Can't believe I did that...
Good morning

Sorry about the weather in some areas, dark gloomy rainy days.
we had that last weekand now we too are having a heatwave!! I Mean it is Januaru right?? To be in the 50s today! Thinking about going for a nice walk.
I ind of think its why my moods have been so wonky, .no snow.
Betty hope you got a better sleep last night. Oh before I forget again thanks for the twister templates, it will be fun to try them.
Linda kay, hope your feeling better today..uck I hate when colds just hang on. Well lol just snuggle up with Luna. And jow is she doing meds helping?
Hey dh got a new surround system for the great room, lolol he still cant hear! I dunno he has been for hearing tests and they come back alright but he cannot hear in one ear, it can be quiet frustrating for him..
Well Im going to treck around and fimd a job! Ive worked on my resume all I have to do is print my references..there are 3 places Iam going to go to , at least fill oit an app and drop off my resume..sigh, I dont want to move up any corp ladders, i just want to be busy and get paid
.
last time I didnt have them ended up calling home and well needless to say I didnt get the job! Haha some detailed person I am!
Judy, check resume over twice and three times, make sure all is there! The economy is picking up somewhat is it not, maybe now that it is and christmas is over with someone will need just what you bring to the table re experience.
You are welcome about templates..hope you can use them..
Sorry to hear about Steve..imagine using all those tools over many years hasn't helped with the hearing
odd though that the testing didn't catch it
Hi again..i was typing on the tabby, it went haywire, so gave up!
Anyway, Linda Kay, hope you have safe travels to and from the Doctor, especially hope they will be able to help your back!...
Barbara, I wanted to also say how great the totes for children came out! It is such a wonderful thing you do and i am sure the children just love them...Awe, love that you went to see the granddaughter gymnastics, I bet they were just thrilled that you and Norm went to see them...Omg, hope you and Norm will find a little place, Are you looking in the same beautiful area?
Katie, Brr your having a cold, cold snap...so glad you'll get thing ready inside! LOL, yep while watching a little TV, geesh keep mine going all day just for the "company". Hmmm, maybe the Max just needs to get used to the comfort vest? How is your knee and shoulder? Are you all healed up, I hope.
Oh Debbie, so glad Paul's appt came out well. hope yours does too, (re the derm appt.) LOL, you had mentioned about cleaning your attic...haha, I was watching Family fued the other day and Cleaning the closet was one of the top 5 things people clean on a yearly basis??? I was thinking, Really...more like once every 20 years!! LOL
...Sigh, i am back in the basement, trying to organize again...It's so simple to just throw things down there out sight out of mind and out of the way from the main floor. You come help with basement and Ill come help with the attic...Well get it done, in between all the visiting going on!! hehe.
OK, I've got to come clean, Boohooo and I mean really! I broke an ornament of Great sentimental value of Steve's, Oh I was just crushed over it...Stewed all day on how i was going to tell him. Trust me, it was a very Long day of wait and my mind worked overtime on scenerios of what happened...LOL first thought, blame it on Birdie...no no that wouldn't be right...lol again Lucielle Balling around over here, try to fix and wait till next year to tell him?? Put it away broken and he'll think he did it when he takes it out? Oh goodness, what to do, what to do...So i told each of the kids and oh my gosh the look of devestation and ohhh mom you are in so much trouble!! I know!! Even Sabrina was trying to come up with a way to at least fix it...usually she is so calm and has a very steady hand but with this, was so shaky just to pick it up...I said just leave it lay as is...My dilemma was solved when he came home and asked how my day was, hanging my head and barely a whisper told him how I broke his Santa ornament...
Ok..So later in the evening he was giving thought of how it might be fixed a skim coating of glue might hold it and reinforce the rest...I don't know, Then he said the only one person who can trust with it to fix it... is Betty!!
OMG, I couldn't believe it but that was what he said and he asked me if i posted about it yet, no but I will...
So Betty, I am going to take a picture of it and see what you think.
lol, so now you all know I was undecorating...its all done except the village, Steve like to keep it up until winter is over, lol usually i will put it away end of January!
Well, im going to send, I started this almost 3 hours ago...got interrupted., I'll be back again, wohoo all my stuff is done.
Judy you poor dear, can just imagine how you were feeling.
Awwwwwthat was such a compliment, now how will I live up to such high praise..remember, one can only do what one can do lol
photo please
well off to post my pension request forms, if all goes well will drop into Fabricland to pick up a few yards of christmas fabric..suppose to be lunch time, but wouldn't hurt me to miss a lunch or two lol
Judy, come on up....I have RC!!! AND Lemon pie! Not as good as yours and Liz, but its pie!
I'll stay with my Pepsi but sure would like Lemon Merangue pie.
Was trying to decide if I will work from home tomorrow seeing I had an extra 3 days off more than anyone else , shall put the phones to the house and see how I feel about it in the morning..
funny, when I was at Fabricland, the lady cutting all the fabric kept looking at the strip I brough in to match blue tone to the morning glories..she said she recognized that I was doing the piece in the recent quilting magazine and that she too was going to start it but will applique, would be interesting to see both finished side by side..am sure hers would be more traditional!
waiting for another morning glory to dry then home I go
gab later
I can try Debbie, worse come to worse and no replacement for original I could try and pant the same..have a few ideas as long as the post office doesn't further play football with it.
Should really do some calling, friends have that flu/cough that's gong on..should check up on them!
Although the kitties go to the door when I open it and it feels like spring either are in a hurry to go out...just want to mellow out.
Debbie, how is the home front? Shane back?
Freezing rain called for your area starting in the wee hours of the morning Betty. Will that help you make a decision about working from home?
LK was it today you went to the doc's about your back? Is this a problem that you have had for years or a new one that has cropped up? Thanks for asking about my friend's son Ty. He is doing very well after a couple of horrible setback. So good in fact they moved him today from ICU to Critical Care - so now instead of 1 on 1 care with a nurse it will be 2 on 1. The ventilator is out so he is much happier. The pain level is quite intense but he is a kid who has never been one for taking any kind of medicine. He wanted to tough it out but the doc said no that he would actually be using so much energy fighting the pain he wouldn't have any left to get well. Simple explanation but it hit home for the kid. He wants so badly to go home but knows he will be in a Rehab Hospital for several months. The good thing is that the hospital he is going to allows sleep overs so his 2 young daughters will be able to come and sleep overnight with their dad. The nuns have set up about 6 areas like small apartments so the family of the patient can come and stay 2 or 3 nights at a time. Great, eh?
Judy get Debbie and come see me!!! I will look for RC for the 2 of you. I have a piece of glass for you Judy that I just wouldn't trust either the Canadian or US post offices to handle. Now that's got you thinking, doesn't it?
You be careful Betty if you do venture out in the am .
Dianne
Dianne, I think you helped make up my mind! Home it shall be, always cozy to be working in my jammies. Kitties will enjoy, Riley isn't affectionate but rarely leaves my side..takes a bit to type because she is at the keyboard so they will enjoy me home. Know one thing, they soon will have to be put on a diet.
Are you getting this weather as well? Bet Quill and Diesel are loving walks without contending with the ice.
Ohhh you have me curious about the glass..I'd be worried as well with our postal workers..I sent breakables for a swap, sure am hoping they are careful with it.
Don't you find the hospitals are more compassionate these days with allowing family to stay. Wonderful that he's improving as each day goes by.
Almost 7:00, should eat something..maybe a bath first. Yesterday brought 1/2 my lunch home, in the fridge, today with post office and then Fabricland stopped to pick up lunch..didn't eat it, better do so before it has to be thrown away.
Was listening to the news..they were saying between food going bad, people not using up leftovers, people thinking food not looking the best but is that 1/2 of our food is disposed of... Eye opening for sure...makes me think at just how much I throw away..
well, it's cold, wet, and snowy here - minus 22c............ oh, did I forget windy? yikes...........
Judy - sure hope Betty has some ideas on how to fix his poor treasured Christmas ornament..... 3 pieces broken out..... not sure how I'd fix the tiny ones.....
BETTY will do it, f'sure!!! I have faith in you, Betty!
A thought on Judy's ornament.....how about the ultra thin fusible webbing cut just wide enough to extend about 1/8th inch on either side of the break...glued to the inside, allowed to dry and set. Glue applied to the inside edges of the broken large part, laid in place and allowed to dry...same with the two small pieces. The thin fusible web would give some support to the broken piece while the glue sets.
Great idea Jean..would be sad not to try if it was Steve's favorite..heartbreaking
What did you get up to today.
I've loads to do but decided to lay on the couch.
Terrible, another shooting in a school in California. Troubled child!
Thanks Betty....been thinking about it since Judy mentioned it got broken. Just thinking all parts are so light weight the glass would need some reinforcement.
Spent the day trying to stay dry. We have had over 8 inches of rain since Sunday and more to come. The creek has almost reached the roadway....just 3 or so feet to go and the River and Bayou have not yet finished flowing into the creek. If that happens, my subdivision becomes an island.
Betty, everyone of those who go on shooting rampages are troubled....and strangely enough, our governor just quit all funding to the behavioral clinic for emotionally disturbed children...all 76 employees are out of a job and now, nowhere for lower income and uninsured to seek help. This will surely come back to bite us. Unfortunately DG does not support the language necessary to express how I truly feel.
Is very tragic Jean, they say government was meeting today as the shooting was taking place, they needed someone such as yourself to bring such issues to the table. Here is hoping the rain stops so you don't float away!
I am back home, I have had a bad back for years, I had surgery back in 2000. But because this was a work related injury, and workmanship comp paid for surgery, I have to go for follow up's every few months, and get my meds refilled. We had a good trip, stopped at Arby's for lunch. We had beef and cheddar sandwich's.
Judy, so sorry to hear you broke Steve's ornament. I like Jean's idea of repairing it. If you try it, let us know how it worked.
Katie, glad you clarified it was 39 degree's. Still pretty cool for your area!
Susan, sure is cold up there! Stay warm!
OH Judy, that was such a pretty ornament! I hate when they break. I didn't even take my fragiles out this year and put up the little tree and ornaments from $1 section.
I have a laugh for you all. DH comes in and hands me his calendar. "When is our trip and where are we going this year?" I said "WHAT trip are you going on?" He said "The one with your ladies!" I busted out laughing! Oh you want to do that again, its not at Betty's, I think it is down south! And what makes you think I am taking you? He seemed so hurt!!! ROFL
Betty, as of right now the 19th looks fine. Shane has been home every night, and in the house by 11:30. He doesn't know that I know he lost his job...so is gone those hours. BUT I am not saying a word. Apparently Shannon had a talk with him and he said "I am trying" BUT I don't hold my breath. I am waiting for the ball to drop as his GF is moving out of State as of Feb. 1st. I do not know where. BUT I am waiting for him to either disappear.....or tell us he is going. Nothing I can do but pray.
Having some issues with swelling tonight, so I am heading to bed. You all stay safe.....get a good nights rest, and I will see you for coffee in the
morning I pray.
Debbie
What a great idea, Jean!! I sure hope this fixes it, Judy - he'll be happy, I'm sure!
Oh no..... another shooting? AND 76 people out of work who could help troubled people like this?!?! Two tragedies........
Well, off to find a frog for my coat - it's missing the bottom one, and my coat flies open because of it. It's a nice warm and long (to the ground!) coat, but can't keep me warm if it's flying open!
I think I have a frog somewhere in my pile of sewing stuff........... so much...........
Debbie - that's terrific that your DH wants to head out on the trip!! lol
hmmmm Shane...... well, at least he's trying, and is ashamed he's not working..... he doesn't want you to know!
Wish I could join y'all for coffee in the morning, but work calls LOL
