Feel so bad, mom just called, she was crying, says she feels so stupid, she wants to crochet to fill inher time and can't remember how to do a granny square..I helped her a month or so, went step by step then she sat it down till last night and cannot figure it out.
She was at emerge on Wednesday for 6 hrs. They think she has copd.
Jim has the flu, inbred really sick..drats, he is never I'll! Guess at their age all these changes are to be expected.
Told her to go get her crochet hook and wool and call me back that we would go step by step..says she feels like a total fool, not able to remember..told her it must run in the family because half the time I can't remember something simple that I've done a million times, made her feel a bit better, so now I wait for her call
LOL, you hit that on the head...Kitchen all cleaned up and ready for the next storm!! LOL.
Breakfast was simple and delicious.
I've just been reading to keep up Betty, very discouraged trying to post, for many reasons. lol I save ya'll the discriptives i'ld just love to roll off my tongue, but I'll just say GRRRRR at technical stuff, all of them!
So, dh and i did the old paper sort last night, oh what fun and great joy 5 hours of that was, haha. But we are now in a decent place to figure out a plan of action on these bills. LOL, poor guy went off shopping, said he was procrastinating "having" to make those payments!! Whew, I'll be glad when the last check is written...We have been purging even more stuff from the house, as well. What a sigh of relief to gain back some space!!
Oh thank goodness for dates!! Have to giggle, I was just thinking how Breenie used to clean the kitchen for spending money, was real nice, now that shes working...it don't happen any more, lol now Jacobs got a date tonight and is in need of money!! Woohooo, guess who did the re-stack, just giggling around over it, plus the lugging big stuff up and down the stairs.
Was nice to see your quilt again. I'm glad Darlene took it with.
OK, so Im confused, is Pat the same Patti who gave you a ride home? looks like you had a great twister session!! Speaking of, i;m thrilled to say I've located a blade converter!! Oh i guess its not too bad in cost as long as it helps, without it I am stuck using the same size blade and Im finding out that it's all in the cut sizes and sanding that make the piece come alive!! While you are pouring over quilting books, i've been studying all that I can and oogling over patterns and projects for scroll sawing...I've got 2 right off the bat..that i have already worked out my patterns at least on paper. And for my next big study up, sad as it is I don't know the difference of woods, hard, soft..pine etc...(gigle, giggle well i do know pine at least! How does one figure out scrapes??
Other then that, Im just trying to keep being have.
Katie, how good that found a stress relief Jacket, I sure hope it helps. Poor thing must be having nightmares..
The olla sounds pretty cool, love the concept...i will go check out the site.
OMG...Got to tell you, Skittles is just crazy over those little bell balls!! She just thrashes them all over the place. She'll take a look and just dive on them especially when she knocks them to the floor. LOL and since Jakes been home, she won't leave him alone. He literally runs and ducks and then dashes to his room., she will go and sit at his door waiting for him to let her in the room, very cute.
Today is just a nice take it easy kind of day, im enjoying it.
Hope your all having a good day too.
No Judy, Pat is an old friend of 30 years..she used to come to classes at Baxter Hall when I was there, then to the farm and now paints with Darlene, seems Ann and a few of the girls want to learn to sew so rather than pant like they did with Darlene they will gather here once a week and Pat will teach them to sew. That is why she was appreciative of a few quilt pattern and of course her Christmas present!
Judy I'm thrilled you are getting so much enjoyment out of the scroll saw..oohh snowmachines are here
Gotta run
Hey Judy, sounds like everyone is getting the spring cleaning bug! I need to start sorting too, but I need to get rid of this crud first. I will feel good for a day, then it comes back and hits me hard, and puts me back in bed. I am tired of being sick!
Betty, sorry to hear about your Mom and Jim not doing well! Hope theynare feeling better soon!
You've been sick with same far too long LindaKay..have you been to the doctor to make sure it's just the flu?
And yes it's sad seeing what has been happening to her
Betty, I have not mailed this center to you yet for the round robin. I wanted to make sure you were back from Florida first. Do you need fabrics for the twisted star flag? Let me know and I will send them to you. Just need to know quantities.
Can mail it out whenever you are able Barb..
as for the red/white/blue I know you have everything packed..although the squares show solid color if you look at photo you will see various shades of each..if you don't have to go on a mega hunt a few pieces would be appreciated..don't need to be patriotic in color I don't think do you???
Just dropping in to say HI and goodnight - tiring day...... cya tomorrow night!
Mary - for some reason the picture of the ladies wouldn't enlarge..... ?!?!
Good evening/morning everyone!! First chance I got to drop in here today. Watching Guy Fieri's series Diners .......... not the best idea as it is making me hungry.
Enjoy your Monday everyone!!! Bet your body is going to have something to day Betty about going back to work.
Will drop in tomorrow when I can stay awhile.
Dianne
I have some blue out Betty and a couple of reds too. Do you need white?
Morning all,
It's a cold one in my neck of the woods, seems we have had a sprinkle of snow, it's a crispy day for sure!
Hard to get back into the swing of things, cut a couple of strips of white on whit fabric so I can mark it with morning glories and prep it for painting, also the ball of cut fabric so I can continue making a purse, test piece..both likely will fill my day.
Dianne, either you are up early or haven't slept all night. How is your friend's son doing?
Haven't spoken to Ann yet, seems her young nephew is doing poorly, cancer spreading like wildfire..sad
Looking at the clock, guess I had better get a move on
Gab later
Should be ok for white, hard to tell Barb if they have different whites on the finished piece. Appreciate your efforts in getting me red and ble..Lordy you are up early..
Meant to ask, had you given your notice and will they let you rent until you find something with ground floor living ?
Really must run
Morning everyone!
Dianne, did you ever get your packages from UPS man?
Can't wait to see what your next sewing projects are Betty.
Nice drive in..what are you up to LindaKay? Will you be travelling north for your Dad's operation on Friday???
here is the photo of the project I'm doing...
quilt top will be done as we always do our blocks but I will paint the 3 inserts (if it works out) to put more of myself into the quilt. I will do the painting before I buy the material so I can best buy matching fabric.
You forgot the photo Betty!
No, I will not travel home, even if things go wrong, I said my good byes to dad when I was home a few months ago. I would like to remember him as he was when I saw him.
My Sister and us kids have been going in circles about Dads last wishes. Dad has always said he wishes to be cremated, then placed in the ground next to Mom at the cemetery. My Sister does not believe in cremation, and she wants to have a regular funeral for him. All of us kids have told her that if he does not accept his wishes, then she can bury him by herself, as we will not be there, nor support with money! I know this sounds cold, but it is what I feel is right.
I have to agree with you LK...his life, his death, his wishes....to me it is all about honor....good thoughts and prayers continue.
Hope you all have a lovely day. I will spend mine trying to recover all of my files/pictures etc. Hard disk fried and the tech couldn't recover anything.....
Oh no, sorry your hard drive crashed. Guess that is a reminder for me to back up my files too!
Thanks...I have a desktop external hard drive for backup....we just can not seem to get the darn thing to give the info back....I have a call in to Seagate the manufacturer, in hopes that they can tell me how to send info from the back up drive to the hard disk...keeps saying i have no backup plan....I have tons of backup plans...it is the one that seems confused....grin
I'm in agreement also LindaKay...I've told my boys NO funeral, simply have me cremated and buried next to Roger, only thing they have to do is have the date engraved into tombstone as my name is already there..told enough people that i sure hope they follow my final wish.
UGGG Jean, sure hope you don't lose those precious photo's. Reminds me I must backup mine just incase.
Here's the photo LindaKay
Just finished getting caught up with office work now time to play
Wow, everyone was chatty while I was gone. Betty, I am so sorry we didn't manage to get together....sad as we were only about 30 miles from each other. My visit with mom wasn't the best as she is now getting very forgetful (maybe a blessing at this point) but is very grumpy where my sister is concerned. Oh the stories she is telling about activities (all in her head of course) that go one at the nursing home. Sequel to Payton Place for sure! :-)
Knee is doing much better as long as I stay off of it but that isn't always the case.
Linda K, I am in total agreement on your Dad's wishes......We said similar with Hubs Mom and Dad. he wanted to be cremated, MIL did not want to do it, and then did not want to put him where he wanted to go for burial, we told her if she would not go along with his wishes, we would have no part in funeral...etc. He did not want any type of services....she finally relented. and did cremate him, but did not put him where he wanted to go.....
then when she passed, she had told everyone... no cremation, but they did that anyway. so we did not contribute.
Betty, I had seen that pattern, and wondered if it was the one you were talking about !!! It will be beautiful painted !!! I am sure you will do a fantastic job of it :)
I am off to Joannes, got to find some leopard fabric, I hope. got a customer, wants a leopard bag :) and I might find something not on sale to use some loverly coupons sent to me by Karen...
oh Moon, good luck on the computer !!
be back later...
Happy stitchin'
Pretty sad when the family, does not follow ones last wishes!
Can't wait to,see that leopard print bag Thunder.
Back from lunch,
dropped into Fabricland, lordy they have a lot of christmas fabric left over..didn't have time to have them cut and stand in line up so might go back tonight or another day..down to 5 and 6 a meter, good for here. Could not find any xmas fabric at any of the Joann's.
At front counter when I paid for my fabric marker they had Fiskars Sew Sharp to sharpen rotary cutters..I thought it was a thread cutter, anyway they are regular $9.99 on for $1.00 so bought a few, should have bought them all, good for gift stuffers. Had some 45 mm fiskars rotary blades , scallop reg 9.99 for 1.00 as well..great buys I think
Not to worry Marion, one of these days we will meet up..remember, I'm travelling south again end of March (or before if Darlene wants to come home).
Thunder, looking forward to seeing your bag as well, nice that you are getting orders..gives you the extra pocket money
LK I so agree with you about your dad's wishes. Warren was adamant he did not want a wake, funeral service or to be buried. He wanted to be cremated and that's it. Of course I honoured his wishes as I want the same. I do wish I had let the neighbours have a get-together but they managed to include my guy when John passed in December. The other thing I wish I had done but Warren did not want it was put a notice in the paper. That is a selfish thing though as I still get calls of people looking for Warren and I have to explain the situation to them and that upsets me. I also understand why you will not be going back to Michigan when he does pass. Thinking positive here lk! I have deliberately not gone to some services as I do want to remember that person as the vibrant person he/she was when I knew them. How is your dad feeling now?
Diesel clipped me at mid calf the other day and I went down like a ton of bricks. He got all excited about the log I was throwing for him and just charged. The look of horror on his face when he saw what he did was something else. He is glued to my side most days but now I can't move an inch without him doing the same. I landed on my back hitting my head on the wood border for 1 of the flower gardens. Have quite the knot on my noggin but my headache is getting better. My neck is quite sore and I have lots of multi coloured bruises over my body.but it could have been much worse. I feel very blessed to have Quill and Diesel as caregivers. Quill (touch wood as I knock on my sore head) is the best she has been in weeks. She is eating again and wanting to go outside and play in the snow.. Woo hoo.
Judy I was chuckling about Jake doing chores to earn money for his date. My dad always said he was glad he had 2 daughters and 1 boy as the boyfriends were always keen to help their girlfriend's father with chores around the house.
How did Paul fare with his procedure Debbie? How did YOU fare Debbie? Bet he was ready to eat a big breakfast as soon as he could.
Thunder I too will be anxious to see the leopard print bag.
What is everybody up to now holidays are over and winter has really become a reality? Do you wish you were back in Florida Betty? Sort of a rude awakening when you woke up home the first day I bet. Gulp at the plow fees but what can you do. You need to get in and out safely. Warren believed in Spring so I was the one who used to shovel when we lived in Toronto. I am so thankful we have such a good plow guy. I bet your plow guy was glad to see you Betty and not just for the money. His mind must have been doing some weird and wonderful things after he saw that obit.
Still waiting for the UPS driver. After a big kerfuffle this morning on the phone with various UPS agents the parcels are supposed to be delivered today. I gave them an atlernative address they can leave the boxes at if they don't want to come down the lane. I will believe it once the boxes are in my hands. This has been going on since Thursday - not like UPS at all.
Hope to stop back in later. Make sure you all do something nice for yourself today ladies.
Dianne
Just got back home 20 minutes ago. Has been a long two days.
Yesterday was DH's "cleaning" and this morning the scope. Removed two polyps, doc said they are NOT cancerous but sent for biopsy as is rule. Will tell us what kind they are and if he needs the scoping more to check if they are the "bad kind".
And yes, he was very hungry on way home, we stopped and had lunch. He is resting now in his recliner and still a bit goofy (goofier than normal). lol
LindaKay, stick to your guns on that. IF you go to the funeral home and put your wishes down....they usually notarize it, and make sure it is done.
Way back when I worked in law firm, a client came in and had her wishes put in her will. Upon her death, they had to bring proof (bill from funeral home) that showed what was done and if family did not do what her wishes were....they got nothing!!! She said the family was bickering and she was putting a stop to it, it was her life and her decision.
Well, I need to rest for a bit, was up and down a lot the last couple nights and my eyes are drooping here!
Hugs to you all
Debbie
OMG Dianne, luckily you weren't more seriously injured. You need color but not in black and blue tones.
Wonderful that Quill is doing so well, perhaps she'll be walking the paths with you come spring playing in the flower beds with you shastizing (?) her.
Darlene's dad did not want anything but they did put a notice in the paper. As you say it's difficult getting the calls and explaining, brings it all back to the surface. As Roger died New years there were many who were away and didn't hear of his death, come summertime we had friends drop in as they were driving to the cottage.
The same thing happened when my dad passed as it did with your Roger Betty. He died late on the Thursday night of the May long weekend. How my parents' minister got the grave diggers at the Anglican cemetery to work on the Holiday Monday is unknown but she did. Mam and my DB were told absolutely NO graves were being dug until the following Tuesday. Well Daddy was buried on the Monday so she worked her magic somehow. Poor mam was getting calls well into the summer. At the time I didn't realize how hard it was on her to get those calls but I sure do now.
Has been nice and bright all day and now it is like someone flipped a switch - it is grey and dull out there. Sort of looks like a storm is moving in. Did you get a lot of freezing rain last night Betty, Thea, Debbie? We sure did, enough I thought the buses might be cancelled this morning but only a few routes were.
Still waiting for UPS ..... have stayed close to the house all day in case the driver called. Diesel and Quill are not impressed, they want a big walk not a piddly little one like I have been taking them on all day. Didn't want to get out of the landline phone signal range.
LK how are you feeling today?
No rain or snow here at all, just cold. BUT they said it is up to 50 by Wednesday and for remainder of week.
Debbie, glad that the results says nothing to worry about but I am sure you will worry till all testing is done.Meant to say Debbie, I was in a rock swap and gave your address..am sure I'll see you one weekend..was a bit heavy to be mailing to Canada.
No Dianne, no freezing rain here, Sunday was heavy wet snow then by noon light snow and cleared by evening. Not sure why but not feeling the cold like I thought I would just being back from weather that was in the 80's.
They do say temps will raise and that rain near end of week likely will do a number on our snow. Not good for winter enthusiasts.
Katie, no mail come your way??? See that you got other packages, wonder why mine hasn't arrived.
Dianne, sorry to hear you got knocked over by Diesel! They can be so rambunctious as a young pup! Luna is the same way, always under my feet!
I am still under the weather, my head is all stuffed up. Sure wish I could get rid of this crud!
dad is doing OK, he looked tired when we talked on Google talk yesterday, and he is in a lot of pain. He is ready for his surgery Friday, and praying it will help him heal that sore.
I just looked at scallop blades they were $12.99 !! I found three different leopard prints, picked the one I like the best, I figure that way if she doesn't like it I will just keep the bag my self.
got an app for my new phone, and got an extra 50% off coupon for Joannes whhooo hoooo !!
spent just over $100.00 saved $ 95.00. we did two separate orders, hubs purchased one and I got the other. they said could only use one 50% coupon. had two coupons for 50%, used one on each order, had coupons for 40%, used a few of those on one order. had a coupon for 25% off entire order, including sale items!! and a coupon for 10 % off entire order !!
I love it when I can save about as much as I spend!!
I treated myself to a new ruler, got one to do scallop borders. ( used 50% off ) bought a bolt of the pellon stuff I use in the bags I make ( used 50% off )
got some black and whites for charity quilt blocks, leopard print, black for lining of bag, a beautiful oriental piece for Levi and Meg new quilt. and some elastic to have on hand for the hats I make for hubs..... think that's it.
then we went to Sams club and did some grocery shopping..Yuck, I really do not like grocery shopping.....kept thinking I want to be home sewing......butt it was nice to have the time with hubs.
Ouch Dianne !! I can picture diesels face, hugs to you both. sure hope you are not too sore.
♥♥♥ hugs everyone
Thunder if you want blades I can go at lunch tomorrow and pick up a few pkgs??
Wow, now how come those sales weren't on when I dropped into Joann's??
LindaKay, I'm sure the pain your dad is in he just wants relief in whatever form it is.
Bad virus going here as well, takes weeks and weeks, also many with the 100 day cough again..think I'll stay in the house till spring, avoid the sickly crowds. Lol
Betty that would be wonderful ^_^
Betty, I will keep an eye out for your package of rocks. Only you will swap rocks! OH WAIT. Bet Cookie is on that one too! lol Paul still talks about her
and her rocks while we were in Canada. BUT gardens are just so beautiful.
The ER was just packed while we were waiting to get into his "same day" procedure. Nurses were exhausted said it had been standing room only in waiting room and back in ER all night long and continued into morning. Nursing home attached to the Hospital has flu big time in it....no visitors permitted over there and doctors going back and forth.
I sat down to read and ended up napping for two hours. I was so so tired!!
Thunder, I do not like grocery shopping either but at Sam's club, I can at least check out all the books!!
Everyone stay healthy!!!
Debbie
Thunder, will pick one up tomorrow if they still have them..did you also want a rotary sharpener, they also are on for $1.00
Thanks Debbie..am sure we will meet up soon!
Yep Cookie sure was taken by our rocks..bet when she comes to do the mushroom hypertufa class this spring her car goes home filled to the brim..imagine customs..explain that!!! lol
Same virus I guess, Think both mom and Jim have the same. Should go call her...
Drats, now you know I have enough paints to paint up a zillion projects..just went in search of fabric medium..only bottle is dried up, now I'm in my jammies telling myself I can get some tomorrow NOT going into town in search of some..sure hope I listen to myself
Betty, if you don't mind, would you pick up several of those blades, and a sharpener for me please? That is a great deal.
