Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends

Victoria Harbour, ON

You will all be ahead of me, I'll have mine to take down on little Christmas, that's when we usually take it down.

Girls are gone to pool, I'm relaxing..just gabbed with Greg, boys bought him special lights for snowmobile so he is at a friends putting them on.

Susan, I'd rather believe what you think than thinking someone is steeling from the church!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Betty - this has been going on since May 2012. As we can't tell from obvious signs, I think this person is lucid most of the time and may find the stuff at their home and it upsets them when they discover them. This is obviously someone who has a key to the church and comes and goes as they need to in order to do what they have a key for.
It's been mentioned on the Board that the keys should be taken back and locks changed/re-issue the keys. What nonsense! We'd just re-issue the new keys to the same people.........
Only IF someone has a key that shouldn't, would this fix things, but we changed the locks 4 years ago and re-issued, so I don't think this will fix the matter.
I will pray this person is helped....

Debbie's recipe ??? YUM YUM hubs made some, it was delicious !

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Thunder, so glad it worked and you liked it!! What did you use in it (meat wise)?

Lyndonville, NY

LOL I am trying yet another recipe. Chicken parm. meatballs with a side of spaghetti. I'll let you know! I needed to use
several of my new spices from spice rack.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

chicken, hubs made it. he does most of the cookin' he chopped up a few boneless chicken breasts, and cooked them, while potatoes were in other pan cooking in broth. he used olive oil and flour for the roux. added a bag of broccoli. I don't know what for spices?? it was very good.

we had spaghetti tonight. I will take the rest of the soup to work tomorrow.

Lyndonville, NY

We had spaghetti also with the chicken parm meatballs I made. I kind of over did the garlic, no vampires for awhile...we are safe!

Verona, ON

No BT not Debbie's recipe but I imagine it is very similar.Any chowder starts with basically the same roux - butter and flour. I tend to have a heavy hand with the butter and the addition of 1/2 and 1/2. I got this recipe out of an old Country Woman magazine back in the late 70's. It started off as the Williamsburg Inn Turkey Chowder and I have adapted it for almost any kind of veggie and even into Venison Chowder. I have had a hankering for French Onion soup this last week. This is when I miss not having a veggie garden last summer. I always have lots of onions to use up but not this year.

Did you notice a difference using the new spices Debbie?

Hope everyone that was feeling punky is on the mend. How is Kim feeling now? Better just in time to go back to school I suppose.

Diesel survived eating all that butter - a little gassy but otherwise nothing significant. Thank goodness!

Heading to bed early tonight. I am really tired but watch I will get into bed and my eyes will be like a hoot owl's.

Sleep well tonight everyone.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all,

Thanks Dianne, you being near me in spirit holding my hand has helped...know it sounds weird that after all these years it still pulls in's the heartstrings but it's like it happened yesterday. Glad that diesel didn't make himself sick..watch those chocolates, that would really do a number on him!

Did sit and sew for a bit, managed to finish a Christmas table runner..going to the post tomorrow mornimg..machine was nice to work with so guess it's coming with me.

Spoke to Jeff and Greg, was nice..

Loved the photo's thunder...

Patti wants to leave Thursday early mornimg so guess when you travel with someone you go when they go.

Early night here

Sleep well my friends

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Oh, Diesel must be suffering from that gas....... butter/oil/chocolate - hard on them, but chocolate is deadly.....
Had a lovely dinner with Doug tonight - too bad that Bev was feeling sore from not using her cane last night - she was walking over to the other room where the kids were (mostly - some were in the main "pub" area, but really loved the separate area where the band was - it was fun for them). She did it too much, and is suffering for it today.
Anyway, Doug, Bob & I had a good evening. Watched "Big Miracle" about the 3 grey whales caught in the ice in Alaska - couldn't get to open water, so people had to cut them out - GreenPeace, US oil companies and the Soviets - during Reagan's era. Very good movie.

Morning everyone! Looks like your all sleeping in today?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,

Not sleeping, had a bath, sitting outside in the sunshine to dry my hair. Had hoped patti would want to leave Friday but she wants to leave tomorrow

I will go to post office to mail the runner I made yesterday and before I go out will call Joann's husqvarna to see if the bonus points for purchasing the machine have been added to my card, if so I'll take a run and buy something worth $25 (or more. Lol) as to use it u p. points only good for the month in which you earned the points. Tonight I'll pack my belongings but will l eave suitcase filled with summer things here until I return in Feb/march.

Anyone hear from Marion??

Thinkingofallthepostersherewho we haven't heard from in a bit..sure hope all is well with them!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Betty - please check out the Round robin post on the sewing thread!!! Thanks

mulege, Mexico

Hi Everyone, I'm here. Not feeling great but not really sick either. I'm going to work on some planters while watching a program on garbage in Tokoyo - such a contrast to Mexico. I'm really enjoying having TV. It's too cold here for me to feel like doing much outside. Between Tony and me we keep most of the plants alive. I'm hoping it warms up a bit so I can pot up my new fruit trees.

There's a post with picture of mosiaced mushrooms in the hypertufa and concrete forum. Also a lizard which always reminds me of Jim Morrison.

More later but wanted to let you all know I'm thinking of you as we all get through the ups and downs of the season. We make it together.

hugs, katie

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Janice, how is Stacey doing? She must be getting pretty close to her due date?

Katie, sure hope your not coming down with the crud? Get some rest, and hope your feeling better soon!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LOL didn't sleep in......... fell asleep at 2:30 am, and up at 4:30 to get ready for work! I just Couldn't get to sleep........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all,

I'm hoping Susan that I don't do like you and be up all night..need a good nights sleep, leaving early tomorrow morning.

No winnings at bingo.boo hoo

Didn't spend all my Florida $$$ but I'm not home yet..nice how they put Joanna and a quilt shop right next to the border.

We kept Darlene busy today, no time for a lot of thinking. Mike had the aneurism today and they took him off life support the next day which is tomorrow. Hated to leave on the anniversary but maybe she needs time on her own.

Too funny, she had her last name on her car plates..couple who arrived last night came over..mikes family came from new Brunswick and that is where they are from, recognized the name..then today a lady around the corner who was visiting the folks I just mentioned dropped in..imagine, after talking Darlene found out that she is Mike's dad's cousin. Both ladies are about Darlene's age but don't speak a lot of English and Darlene speaks no French..am sure over the winter they will be best of friends. Then tonight at bingo a lady came and asked if we were the girls who lived in back of her site, her name is Betty, husband died feb16th so I think she will also be good for Darlene..am sure she will enjoy the stay.

Waving good night

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hot tea, and before that I had rum eggnog...... think I'll sleep like a baby!

Betty - it's a small world!!
Take care and drive safely! Looking forward to you being back home in your own wee bed!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mornimg all, having coffee and ready for the road!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Safe travels my friend with your new friend....Hope to hear from you soon.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Drive safely Betty!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Ya know, it may sound strange, but maybe the best thing for Darlene is to be "on her own" away from her home and the memories it triggers and also the friends that knew both her and Mike so well. She will be free to deal with her grief, sorrow and anger as she needs to and will not be tethered by constant memories or the fear of hurting other's feelings as she copes. Some folks need to be alone among "strangers", while others need the constant support of friends and family, in order to cope with their loss.

Do give her a big hug Betty and let her know we all wish her the best. Hope you and Patti have a great trip home. Be safe.

Hope you all have a pleasant day...stay warm.

Jean

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
