Coffee Break # 89 The End of 2012
Participated in a fill a cookie container for a local church's food bank. The lady that owns the farmer's market down the road has been doing this for years. You bake 4dz cookies and then it's like an assembly line, 1 cookie goes in each container. The filled cookie container then goes in the Christmas baskets that the food bank gives out. There was about 30 ladies there, we filled 150 containers.
Congrats on your new niece Jen, nice to hear some happy news!
Jo glad your hand is getting better.
Prayers, Allison.
Congrats, Jen!
that's all awesome news Jen!!
Congrats, Jo!
Ranger at Yellowstone said that.
You do know why there are no Mayans don't you???
The Spainish brought VD and other diseases that those SA cultures died from.
Lots of Doomsday parties around Manhattan.
The theory that I heard is that they ran out of food, corn especially, and decided to move, and the reason is probably because they let the soil become depleted and they started to sicken. But it's still a mystery why they left so suddenly.
There are all kinds of theories.Yours is close to another I heard that included too much inbreeding and poor agriculture practices.
I heard it was inter-species breeding. Llama mia!!!
Glad you can drive again, Jo! If it was the Mayans who gave us chocolate, they left a fine legacy.....
glad for your freedom JoAnn
DH challenged the church ladies to make cookies for the local food bank. He took 20 dozen over yesterday. He made 3 dz. himself.
Nice!
My husband's eaten 3 dozen himself!
hee hee! DH is the cookie baker in this house. the 3 dz he sent were cut outs. he has more he wants to make.
I love crismiss cookies.Fancy bar ones like "Hello Dollies"
Your brain is always on "overdrive" Victor.
Hee hee! Thanks.
There is a Facebook page set up for people to pledge to do 26 random acts of kindness in memory of the shooting at Sandy Hook. I think that is a really nice way to honor them.
Absolutely.....hope I can manage even a few.....in our Bible study last night, one woman's daughter was at calling hours for one of the children....her daughter taught at the preschool at Sandy Hook several years ago....the child was a former student....another couple's son lived a mile from the school....their grandson, a 1st grader, is home-schooled...his best friend, Daniel Bard, was one of the murdered....
How awful.
Yes, it is....the whole state is still in a mess.....my sister tried to get to calling hours for the principal, but she said the line went on forever....I heard on the news tonight the wake started at 3 & there was still a line at 8.....
Have you seen all these weird news interviews now? they are using actors to play the parents to do the media interviews? so bizarre!
Found out one of the teachers killed in Newtown was married to a Manhattan College engineer who graduated when I was a Freshman.
Happy Mayan day!! Seems we all made it :-)
Great day for me today, all four of my Grand-kids will be here and we will be doing gingerbread cookies, pizza and then Christmas Light watching! Our oldest Joselyn will be staying with us through Christmas

APPENING AT 9:30 AM: The victims of the elementary school massacre are being remembered this morning with a moment of silence at 9:30 a.m. and the ringing of bells at houses of worship throughout the country.
I was driving down our Main St. & , at 9:30 pulled over... CT's major radio station had a moment of silence, then the President reading the names of the deceased.....I sat in the car, prayed, & cried for each one.....
We are expecting a white crismiss here.
Light rain with huge white snowflakes.
GSIL is home from Afghanistan. The whole family will celebrate.Wedding was last crismiss, ceremony will be in June.

Sounds like you will be having a happy time....
Feel like I've missed a bit. Got sick from the Texas kiddos when they visited last weekend. Still can't being myself to watch the news! Just reaching out to others in any way is meaningful!
Will be going to Jeff's sister's house in Ocean City on Christmas Day. Our DDIL's parents will be here so we do not want to take away from their special time with the grandies. We had a small Christmas last Saturday, so we don't need to be there.
My son was in and out of the nurses all day, good thing it's only 2 doors down from his class, complaining of lower back pain, started getting a fever after lunch and now is at 101.8°
Don't mean to alarm you but Josh complained of back pain and the top of his legs when he got influenza.
