TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Dianne - how very sad about the young woman's passing...... the poor parents!! Sometimes the mourning ones don't know what they need. Making some freezable food is always a good thing, or offering to drive them to where they need to go (probably not quite up to driving in their emotional state) would be great. The sound of your voice is a wonderful idea (I agree, Jean!)

Barb - nasty about the IVs....... I remember once an intern trying to put an IV on the top of my hand NASTY! Maybe it was too big a needle, cuz he said my veins were small...

Debbie - sorry about Shannon's strep throat... must really hurt like the dickens!!

Another good day at work. They're posting this position this week, and it's for internal/external applicants. If it's someone internal, they would know more about the company....... Anyway, what will be, will be, right?

Lyndonville, NY

Thank you, yes her throat is really painful. Doctor said didn't know how she could swallow at all as tonsils are huge. Yes, will be going on my trip still, DH is home and will take good care of her.

Still not packed, but we had dinner and my bit of laundry is in the wash. Need to wash some of that gray out of my hair too!

Barb, must be a day for bad IVs. DH came home with packs on his arm, nurse blew a vein during his pheresis donation and his arm was huge!!
Definitely sounds like they used too big a needle for Norm. Timmy Hos will help with the swelling, I am sure of it!

Ok, back to work...I am just dragging my feet!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Brrrr Storm coming off Georgian Bay, wicked..
Here I sit with old lady perm. Grrrrrr

Jean, thanks for info, think that one was if you bought plan, not sure with 32 or 64 memory what the difference is other than the price

http://store.apple.com/ca/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone5

Likely cheaper in the long run..

Sorry to hear about Norm and Shannon's bad experience..some nurses just try and ry and try again..ouch..both deserve a treat..

Dianne, what tragic ..comments the girls gave are excellent.

Barb, believe Ann has been doing to much and her body is telling her that with the dizziness...she has been up north to see her young nephew who just had surgery for cancer and then she was off to Toronto to see her own doctor.

Darlene hasn't even had time to think of her dad's recent death, hasn't adjusted to losing Mike..all her energy has been to help her mom re falling and breaking her hip..am sure once we are on the road to Florida and with Christmas season all hell (emotions) will break loose. Not sure if I'm equipped to be a friend at this time of year..even after all these years Suzanne was talking today about things that happened in the hospital that Christmas and I started to cry..guess emotions lay close to the surface regardless how many years have passed

Debbie, glad you had a talk with your mom, am sure you feel more at piece..but listen gal, go get packed.

Barb, sitting here having Timmies hot chocolate..on the weekend bought a giant sized candy cane, put it into a zip lock bag, took hammer to it till just small crystals..just put a teaspoon in and added whip cream..soothing on a stormy night

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, it was Paul that had the IV issue tonight with his blood/pherisis donation. But yes, Shannon has strep.

I have my old lady perm too...touching up the roots though.

We have had snow since 3:30 and still coming along. I worry having to fly in the morning.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All;

Hugs and Prayers for those hurting ... Norm and Barb, Shannon and Deb, Dianne and her friends family....

Debbie I agree... just go put at least ONE thing in that suitcase... likely you'll catch the packing "bug". I usually lay everything out on my dresser thinking of each day then the last day start placing in the bag. I always pack PJ's last thinking I'll be tired when I get there... Can't wait to "see" the box from our Liz !
She does know you with the snowmen !
Barb I really got a kick out of your enjoyment of the Mardi Gras Beads ! I am so sorry about Norms experience but glad you got the survey... a chance to make things right.... I'm really starting to be suspicious of the Health Care industry especially since MIL was hospitalized. Got a box of Beads in the mail to Katie today. Katie hoping you make it Monday because I did mail it the "Slowest" route... not sure when it will get there...
Yes I agree... Diesel did GOOD picking !
Oh Betty LOVE that joke.... You'll have to find a good time to make those beignets.... I used to make them a lot had a "Scratch" recipe but I can't eat sweets in the morning anymore....

LK thank you for the update on Judy....
Dianne.... how upsetting .... again.... just not very trustworthy of the healthcare industry... just should not have happened! How sad. Is there anyone who can do a fundraiser for the funeral ? Sometimes folks allow a donation jar at the registers of local stores. That's all I can think of but the other ladies said it best.... but you know all that it just is so overwhelming....

Hugs to all,

Mary

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

safe travels Debbie, sure hope you get to get in some beach time :)

many many hugs to all in need..... Dianne, Barb and Norm, every one ((((((((((((((((((((((( )))))))))))))))))))))))))))

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

forgot to say....Susan, If you talk to Jaye tell her we miss her...and send her hugs...
and very glad you had a good few days at work...so are you able to put in an application for the job???

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, is there anyway to file a lawsuit against the Dr.'s?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I will be considered for the position, along with the others that are applying. It's Internal as well as External applicants. Internal people know the company better, that would go in their favour of course.
I leave it in God's hands.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thunder - it's too late to call her tonight, but I will definitely tell Jaye that everyone misses her! I told her about Karen's new GD!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning..
Dropping in with

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Safe travels today Deb. Hope this mini vacation is just what you need!!!!

Lyndonville, NY

Just letting you know i arrived safe......77 degrees and Siesta time!!!!

Verona, ON

Hurrah, Debbie has landed!! Very envious of the temp you are having though.

Quill is still here with me and seems a bit more alert. I swear she is a cat disguised as a dog and has 9 lives. When I put her out early this am she decided she wanted to go for her walk.I turned around to stoke the woodstove and when I turned back Quill was gone. Threw on my robe and a pair of Wellies and went out in the dark with my flashlight. The little stinker had made her way to the bunkie. There she was laying on the ground in front of the bunkie door wagging her tail. She looked so happy! If I hadn't been so cold and been better dressed I would have sat down with her for a bit. She had a slow walk home but she made it. Have I told you lately how much I love her and how proud I am of her? lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

How exciting is that Debbie, you fretted for nothing..77 degrees, you might not want to come home.
You are making me anxious to get on the road..ok/ok so it's only to Buffalo tomorrow but 3 weeks tomorrow off I go.

Darlene called me at work today, she went and got all her meds, had a system put in her house so she won't worry, it's monitored..did a few other things so our trip is progressing nicely.

Debbie, you don't have to tell us that you love Quill, we hear it in yours posts..
The bunkie must have a special meaning..perhaps where time spent with Warren?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm sitting here grinning Dianne. That great power of prayer-----
Glad to hear your trip was a safe one Deb. Enjoy all that heat!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear that Quill had a nice walk!

Debbie, so glad you had a good flight! And have nice weather!

Well, I am almost done with place mats for my Sister. I put them away for a bit for Thanksgiving, got them out yesterday, and they are almost done! Two more to bind.
The cardinal place mats are for a swap.

Thumbnail by taters55 Thumbnail by taters55
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Very nice Linda. I love how we can take a block we like and convert it to a placemat by adding side borders!!! Those are lovely.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks barb!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lovely Linda Kay, I especially like the cardinals
Only someone who sews would know the amount of work that goes into such projects..I'm sure your sister will be thrilled!

Already bathed, took double dose of meds for headache and heading to bed..know I won't sleep but I shall rest.

Decided to work from home tomorrow..I'll leave for Buffalo at 3:00pm..picking up my cousin in Barrie at 3:45

Gives me all day to play/rest at home tomorrow.

Barb, is Norm still working?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Yes he is Betty. The company is being great about his time off needed. His new boss is recuperating from heart problems right now so he knows the stuff you need to go through with the medical profession!!! Norm works every day that he isn't at the hosopital and if it is a quick test or an in and out appointment, he will work either before or after to make up his time. His main complainat is the fatigue and he comes home some nights really dragging. But he is determined not to lose another job due to illness if he can help it.
Sorry to read that you are still having these headache issues. I'm beginning to think we need to ship you off to a spa somewhere...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hard part about being ill Barb, is trying to the everyday schedule needs looked after..wonderful that the company understands..

What a few days of turmoil..an offer was made on Roger's mom home, so
Paul sent all siblings a letter asking if all would sign acceptance of the offer..my boys got Rogers's vote...there are 3 of the sibbling who have more $$$ than they will ever spend, 1 brother who is deathly ill, 2 who are struggling....do you know that the 3 with $$$ said they would not sign unless they had 3 appraisals, want to put it on market through a realtor for 8k difference in what is offered..not good business decision..anyway fight is on, will does say 'simple majority'. They have far more than that..have 8 out of 11..now fight is going on, shaking my head..brothers wanted 'all for or nothing'. Have you ever put 11 in a room and all agree on something.. My boys said they would go with majority...families..sure makes you want to go review points on will.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear Norm is tired, but I believe that is the side effects of the chemo. Hope it gets better soon!

Betty, I have never seen a will go uncontested, pretty sad. Hope they work it out soon!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

It is definitely one of the side effects of the chemo Linda. We are just very fortunate that he doesn't have more erious side effects yet.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Big sigh, if the telephone rand once it rang 5 times..now I'm wide awake.

Aunt Muriel called, concerned about expiration date on her passport..should she go renew?? Said she wanted it for when I take mom in January..Lordy, let me get through December and getting back from Florida before planning another gathering! Lol

Spoke with Ann, she is still quite dizzy, gave her the what for and got the same back..

Drats, likely I will get up and do something vs laying here watching he clock..

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Took Kim out for a celebration tonight. We had a lovely dinner at Longhorn Steak House but the favorite was the salad. It had several varieties of lettuce, strawberries, grapes, mandarin oranges, pecans, feta cheese, thinly sliced red onion and all topped with a very delightful raspberry dressing. Forget the steak..just bring more salad. :-) This was especially enjoyable as we don't eat beef very often..nor does she finish a new degree all that often either.

Off to bed now. Knee is giving me some trouble again. Note to self: don't fall down stairs again!

Victoria Harbour, ON

So glad you finally got to celebrate , sounds like Kim is now recovered from the flu. Yummy on the salad, is the restaurant a chain? You've made me hungry, haven't has supper, anybody for peanut and jam sandwich??

Make sure you post that note to self all over the house. Lol.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

Dianne - Yay for Quill.... she just wanted to show Mommy that she could do that ! Was Diesel back at the house ? or bouncing around.... Sounds like Quill has had a rebound.... I hope so ! (HUGS)
Deb.. Yay sunny Florida might be just what the Dr. ordered...

LK Place mats are beautiful ! I have to add that LK was my "Little Bird" who helped me figure out the fat quarters would be a great idea..... Ya'll should have seen me in and out of different sewing places around Baton Rouge.... "Um excuse me... but do ya'll have.... Fat Quarters?"

They probably had me pegged as a non-quilter..... LOL

OH Betty nothing like a will to bring out the worst. Just like with my sis... she has more $ than she will ever spend, I was broke when Mom passed and Sis wanted to go into business together and fix the house up... never mind I lived 300 miles away.....We had one appraisal and sold it to sis's "Friend" for less than that....
Barb it makes me sad a bit that Norm is still working with all else going on... but I'm so glad his boss is understanding....

Congrats Marion again for Kim... nice to have a dinner to celebrate.... I think we all need more celebration dinners ! I think we have a Longhorn here... I just never think to go there...

I took DSon to PF Changs for lunch today and when I checked in the lady asked "Are you celebrating anything?" (Just like at Disney I might add) I'll think of something for sure next time....Yes Ma'am... it's Thursday and I'm celebrating that it is Thursday ! LOL

Invited the MIL to lunch and shopping on Saturday.... excellent shopper and I will watch and learn LOL...

I am celebrating today ! I have the BEST DG Friends.... glass up and toast to you all !
Hugs
Mary

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I love Longhorn Steakhouse, there is one in San Antonio, and they have really good food! Glad you had a good celebration dinner! Please take care of that knee!
PFChang is another great place to eat. YUM!
Sorry your not sleeping Betty! Hope you can get back to sleep and sleep well!

Victoria Harbour, ON

morning all,

Temps must have dropped, yikes its chilly in here..

Oh Mary, too funny, can see you out shopping for fabric and knowing nothing about what you are shopping for..you did well though, love the fabrics and the reason behind what you chose. You are one busy lady, so nice that you get to do lunch with MIL, sad that I never had that relationship,..about 12 years ago and for about 4 years running I would take the in-laws to Florida, rent them a place in same park, I sure was good enough then doing so, then the minute I didn't go back I was right back in bad books..I do envy you that relationship...

Turned up the furnace, put on the fireplace, sitting with hot chocolate watching the christmas tree rotate, area filled with Christmas pressies, can life get much better than this??

Now if there were presents for me along with them think I just might have opened one. Lol. It almost seems impossible that tomorrow we shall be in December and Christmas but weeks away. My Santa Warren buddy should be receiving her gift early week..always exciting to see if your buddy likes your choice of gift which they always do..we worry too much

Slept off and on, couple of times thought this is silly, get up and do something but eventually dozed off..

Nice that I'm not rushing this morning, might even stay in my Jammie's till its time to leave for Buffalo..

Must label all the boxes, mill do that first thing and get them in the car so when 3pm comes its off I go.

Better not forget I have Bernie/Charlene's stained glass piece in the trunk..weren't home for me to deliver Xmas present..don't want to take the chance of breaking it ..need room for stateside shopping.

On my list is a drop in to Joann's , here is hoping they carry Minnie fabric..would love to make the girls a scarf, the outlet mall for texting gloves , sweaters for the boys, can't think of anything else I need or want. Trip primarily to post the workshop boxes..listening to the weather, not the best but don't hear them talk of any large amount of snow..that pleases me, wanted no snow till after tires are put on Monday afternoon.

Debbie, here is hoping you will get to spend the day at the beach..

Off to get productive

What are you all up to this morning

Morning everyone! Been up since 4 am but I always feel early morning is the best part of the day for me. All is quiet and I get a chance to reflect on things I normally would not make the time for plus this time helps me 'organize' (for lack of a better word) this new day.

My sweet Quill is still here with me .... she is one tough cookie. I am hoping that this was just one of her episodes but know deep down it is not. She is being very brave although Diesel did annoy her to the point she growled at him last night. Poor Diesel just can't understand why Quill won't play with him.Unless she gets up to move pain does not seem to be an issue for her, thank heavens for that!

Debbie what are you up to today?

Mary, how wonderful it is you have a DMIL who you want to spend some time with. Hope the 2 of you have a blast! I thought of you yesterday when Sons of Gun was on the Discovery channel. I waved did you see me?lol

Chuckled when I read about your SG piece in your trunk Betty. Years ago Santa Warren and I were packing up to do a show and this lady walked into the studio. She was after a special anniversary present for her DB and DSIL. I had to unpack 1 of our big boards that we carry the larger pieces on and the lady found just what she wanted. About an hour later as I was finishing my packing I look out and here comes this lady with the piece of styro in her hand - she was sobbing her heart out. We pack our glass on 1/2 = 1 in. styrofoam and that was what was in her hand. I had jokingly told her as she left NOT TO SIT on the piece. Yep - you guessed it, she did. Didn't get any sleep that night but her piece got repaired - it was the first piece of SG she had ever bought and I sure wanted her to buy more in the future. The look on her face when she came at 5am to pick it up was well worth my effort the night before. So Betty, don't forget to drop off that glass at Bernie's.

Think I am going to take my hot chocolate, my book and curl back up in my bed.

Make sure you all do something nice for yourself today ladies.

Dianne

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Have a safe trip Betty, stay warm and be careful. Isn't it amazing how folks will fight for something they didn't earn? For some folks, the more they have the more they feel entitled to. I can not balance the loss of a parent with a gain in my checkbook.....shame on them.

Good morning to you all.

Dianne....continued good thoughts for your sweet Quill. Benny, my blind Beagle, injured his hip when he was just a couple years old.Once healed it didn't seem to bother him, but now at 11, arthritis has set in. My SIL, a vet, prescribed Meloxacam for him for the inflammation and cosequin. He takes them both daily and it has eased his discomfort greatly....so much so that some days he does his unique Puppy Dance.

Barb, working is probably very good tonic for Norm. I am sure it keeps his mind occupied and helps lend purpose to his day. Continued good thoughts to you both.

Marion, I had to laugh...DH says I go out to eat for the salad and baked potato.....and maybe a little steak with it. grin

Debbie, I hope the sun has wrapped you in warmth and that you have a lovely visit with family.

Linda Kay, those place mats are lovely. They will add warmth and charm to any table setting.

Mary, the closest Long Horn Steak house to us is in Denham Springs on Range Rd near I-12. But we do have Ruth's Chris and Outback.

Susan, fingers crossed for you re the job. Hoping so that this one becomes permanent for you.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Betty, there is a Longhorns in Ft. Myers and it is one of our favorite places to eat. We might consider meeting there one night for dinner....Darlene included!!!!!! I know if I mention Longhorns my sister will be in tow. LOL Not a problem.

Jean, now I laugh not about the salad but that you have a beagle. We used to raise them and I do miss not being able to have one. Our location is such that a beagle would just be trouble...especially with the barking issue. I will admit the salad was special and I also think Kim and I can duplicate. Have found a very nice Raspberry dressing we light so might just give it a try before much longer.

Beautiful placemats LK. Love the cardinals but then, I like cardinals.

Dianne it is so sad but good reading about Quill. It brings back so many memories of pets we have had in the past.

Debbie, I hope your part of the state is brighter and sunnier than we have had....send a little sunshine this way please. :-)

Well off to finish a couple of chores I have started. Have a great day all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Want to stay in chat, drats, few last minute things need to be attended to, have read all your posts and will respond later..

Full speed ahead, clock is just a ticking. Lol

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Marion, actually 2 Beagles...littermates, Benny Christopher and Sophie Spoon Pig Wiggle. Benny is blind from birth and Sophie has an eating disorder (everything in sight). They don't carry on too badly....but have a field day when a Oppossum wanders by....grin

Sophie on Guard Duty
Benny walking into the camera...again

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Awe, they are so cute!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Love 'em Jean. That would be our problem here, to many night visitors plus a fox who has made a home in one of the culverts 2 door up. Oh the fun...............

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks...they are both "rescues" of a sort. Grandson picked Sophie out immediately at the breeders....she was promised, so he chose Benny (6 wks old) after a couple days I realized he was blind, and since they are both AKC registered bloodlines notified the breeder that I would not register Benny due to that. he wanted to take him back, reimburse me and "do away" with Benny....NO. He called me a couple days later...the woman who bought Sophie (against her husband's wishes) put her at 7 weeks old into a dog yard with 5 adult Beagles, she nearly starved to death. When her husband returned from offshore two weeks later he made her take Sophie back to breeder, who called and offered her to me at no charge to "recompense for Benny's being blind" She weighed just barely half what Benny weighed and you could lay your finger between her ribs....thanks to that, food is her motivator, her favorite pastime, and her reason for living....hence the pig- wiggle in her name. grin

Victoria Harbour, ON

ahhh they are the cutest..loved the story behind your getting the..some people are just so cruel to animals..I imagine they are as cruel to humans as well..

Starting to snow, still 1 1/2 hrs before I leVe..Suzanne was in the city, hwy 400 was closed this am, black ice and mega accidents..she said that the roads were pretty clear but a storm front moving in..

Will drive carefully, too bad then I'll just turn around and take a snow day this week and pop over to USA..

Big field out front, enough snow for a snowmobilers to go around n circles..lol

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well Jean, they are cute but then I am partial to beagles. We had one in a little one time that was born with just 3 legs. My sister took her and she managed to live a full long life. Then again, my sister gives new meaning to the thought of loving animals.

Betty, please be careful....I know you will be but watch out for the other drivers. Black ice is so bad!!!
