We came from here:

Know we are all watching the clock, our thoughts and prayers with Norm and Barb..

Roads were terrible driving home, took back roads so there was no pressure re drivers wanting to drive faster than they should given the weather. Is nice to be home.

Jeff called, Paul who is working on Mothr's estate wanted his and Greg's address and signature for legal paperwork. Nora left Roger's share of her estate to my boys. Think the boys were a little surprised.

Got to go back to previous thread and read the last dew posts..I really should get energetic but it is Monday night and Im almost tempted to go to bed...but, not before I check up on you all

Betty, send me the make and model of your car....Paul has a "place" for tires. Car tire size do you know?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

We are home! Norm is doing good. He is still a bit wonky and so far his arm is still numb. She removed the lesion from his right armpit so you can imagine what that will feel like when the stufff finally wears off. It was sent to pathology and we should have a report in 5-7 days. She told me that she thinks it is the melanoma but I haven't told that to Norm yet. I want him to be awake and aware when I do.
Mary, I am tired so I will open your present tomorrow and get pictures. My enthusiasm level is kinda down tonight and I want to do the present justice!!!
I thank you all again for your prayers. I'm off to get my PJs on......

Verona, ON

Holding you and Norm close to my heart.I so ache for you Barb.

No snow to speak of here yet Betty. Dentist in Kingston tomorrow am. Not looking forward to the completion of the root canal.

Sweet dreams everyone.

Lyndonville, NY

Barb, keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers also. My DD has surgery there to remove a lymph node. The doc said "use a bag of frozen corn or peas....great ice pack and can refreeze" SO if that helps....go for it!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sending prayers Barb!
Dianne,,sending prayers for you too for the dentist to be gentle!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Think I nodded one minute longer than normal and fell asleep.that tells me it's time to go bed.

Glad I decided to check in, Barb my heart breaks for you both as well. It is no wonder you are tired, You must be both mentally and physically exhausted, it has been a long day ..here is hoping you can get a good nights rest.

Linden, TN(Zone 7a)

I've been working on Christmas stuff today... Got my package almost ready to ship.. but just a few more items to pick up..Larry helped me get the tree up .. it is a prelighted tree, so that is a help.. tomorrow I do the ornies and garlands.. and go on a small shopping trip to town...

I have actually started my diet.. yep.. complete with journal and photos.. OMG those photos staggered me.. It was so shocking to see myself 3 sizes larger than I am used to.. I reckon losing my husband 2 years ago took a toll on me, and then meeting Larry and falling in love again put me in another realm.. Larry is such a fabulous cook.. and I love to eat his offerings.. but we both saw how much bigger I was getting and had to take action .. and do it NOW !! I am squeezing into a size 16 and my wardrobe is filled with sizes 8. 10 and 12.. so this is not an option. it is mandatory... LOL

It has been raining here all day, but a nice soft and refreshing rain.. and the world smells wonderful of the rain and of wood smoke from wood stoves all over the holler.. Wish I could somehow share it with you all...

I will keep Norm in my prayers .....

Have a wonderful evening everyone..

Carolyn

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

(((((((Barb & Norm)))))))) Barb, I can only imagine how you must feel, not being able to mention the melanoma to Norm...... prayers for you, my dear!

Carolyn- I "hear" ya about the weight gain due to the love of our lives........ my Bob kept doing the "jewish momma" thing and saying "eat, eat, you're too thin"....... well, I'm not NOW!! lol
And even size 16 sounds good to me..... when I used to be a size 11!

My job went well today – one of the other secretaries said it was a very “laid back place” but it is busy. I know I impressed my boss (Lora) cuz when she had me go into her email (only 70 new ones through the day…..) I found 2 that were flights for today (return tonight), and she hadn’t checked in, so I did for her. Printed her boarding passes.
Then I found a meeting for tomorrow that she needed to have a printout for and she hadn’t, so I did for her.
I’m going to a Sharepoint training near Cochrane tomorrow afternoon, and also taking minutes at another meeting afterwards.
I then set up a luncheon date for her and someone that will be in meetings with her, later on.
She had asked me to enter about 100 business cards into her Outlook contact list, so that’s all done too. They couldn't be scanned, so had to type them in.
I got my computer access, and set up some other things for me.
She left early this afternoon, so I will see her tomorrow am, and we can discuss what’s been done, and what I need to do.

Bob said he was in an Orientation today, and there were 30 attendees! It surprised the facilitators, cuz they weren't expecting so many. Afterwards he took a test – some office skills, maths, and invoicing. Guess they want to see where they “are” so they know what type of training to put them in?!
One thing……. It’s awkward as all heck to get to the office. I made an error in the dark, leaving, so ended up 2 blocks in the wrong direction….. so it was 9 blocks, and my knee is still not healed enough to take long walks like that. I was hurting by the time I got on the train. Anyway, Bob picked me up at the train stn so that was good. Headed home and made dinner, now he’s out at his bowling league tonight. Rush, Rush lol
Think I’ll do the 7:30 to 4:30 shift, instead of 8:00 to 5:00….. easier to leave downtown at 4:30!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ok didn't go to bed, cut blades on 4 pairs of skates and as I climb the stairs I told myself how well I'm doing and soon I will be sitting wondering what to do with myself. Lol

Susan, sounds like you got much accomplished even though you were a newbie..I'd opt for an earlier shift as well..if I could I'd start at 8am-4:00pm but how many people would call at that time of morning so I'm stuck with my schedule.

Carolyn, maybe we should start a clothing swap, there are those going up in weight and those losing and I'm not one of the ones losing let me tell you..never even thought about doing a journal and taking a photo to give one the incentive to lose weight. Worse thing I did was put large mirror doors on the closet doors next to my bed..enough to scare one self..glad you found Larry..

Nothing like having tree up to get into the spirit of things..imagine a month today and we'll be talking about the new year.

Dear Santa:

I don't want much for Christmas, I just want the person reading this to be happy.

Friends are the fruit cake of life - some nutty, some soaked in alcohol, some sweet - but mix them together and they're my friends.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

Oh My Goodness !

I am going to "switch it up" and go through my day first then reply to posts Second....

As you know I took a Vacation day today to nip the Christmas thing in the bud... so this is Day 5 having not been at work but busy with cleaning, Thanksgiving, shopping online.

Left the house early... by 10:30am I texted Hubby "Christmas Shopping FAILURE - Two hours at Bed Bath and Beyond and nothing but Belle a toy and me a new pumice to clean the bathroom".

Things picked up and was able to come home by 6pm, exhausted, with Shopping bags in hand.... Hubs was about to be home... I checked the front door and lo and behold about 8 boxes... from the online shopping I'd already done....
Thinking "I'll load all the boxes with the bags I got from today on the kitchen table and really impress Hubs on the shopping I'm getting done for Christmas !"..... meanwhile I noticed one of the online purchases I'd made had a Home Address label...
odd... but didn't have my glasses on .....

Okay so I can't tell a story real good like our Judy can... so will just skip on to tell you all.... MY SANTA WARREN BOX came in today ! And it is from Barb and Norm !

OH MY GOODNESS ! Once I realized it was from them and what it was... I put it aside.....

Barb and Norm... as soon as you are ready... I will open up the box ! THANK YOU ! I can't believe with all you have going on you spent time on this ! And also that you had it shipped to come today....

So having decided I'll wait till Monday to open the box with Barb and Norm (Forgetting with 5 days OFF that THIS is MONDAY) I put it aside and went through all other boxes and gifts, eat supper with DH, bath then off to ordering online then jump over here to check on things.

So... TODAY is MONDAY ! I now realize... and read at 6AM ! Yes 6AM Barb is posting that her swap buddy should get her gift and I feel like a real heel !

So Barb THANK YOU my dear ! Do you want to open up our pressies together ? I have to go back to work tomorrow so may not pop back on here till 8pm or so tomorrow night... but can open it up whenever you are ready !

((HUGS))) and also HUGS on waiting to tell Norm... My heart is with you all....and many prayers

Dianne (hugs) Quill also... and you with the dizzies.. I'm sure you are getting that checked out. Cosequin has helped hubby with his knee...a ramp would help as well.

Katie... with you gal on the dust I read Consumer reports, the Hoover rates well.... I'm looking into it... did not see one at BB&B today. I did run up the attic and grabbed a few beads and such will get it posted tomorrow hopefully. I have a few of Mom's old books I can throw in the box... what do you like to read ? I think jansen, maybe some like that.

Betty $900 sound crazy for a phone..They must cost more up there I literally can't think of a phone that expensive. Wow on Boys getting Rogers share but it is only fair... kudos for her for doing what is right.....

I'll be back at work after 5 days off tomorrow but thinking about you all and Barb&Norm.... will attempt to pop in and see what Barb wants to do....

(HUGS)
Mary

Oh Barb ... {{{ }}} sending prayers to both of you tonight.

Debbie, I hope you have an absolutely wonderful time on your trip! ☺

Yea Susan!! I'm so excited for you and your DH!!

Betty, hope you find a good price on your tires.

That's all I can remember for now. LOL Just wanted to give Barb a hug before I went to bed.
~Suze

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks, Suze!!
Dianne - I'll keep Quill in my prayers...... poor girl must be feeling so bad.......
Mary - How wonderful to get Barb & Norm's pressie box!! Looking forward to seeing it!
and I hope your Christmas shopping settles down....
Betty - they're right.... $900 for a phone is just crazy! I have mirrored closet doors, and I just avoid them......... blech!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning all. And it is a good one here. Norm had a fairly easy night and only tried to raise his arm once. That was enough to let him know he can't do that yet!!!! Very seldom do I hear him swear but he did then! He usually sleeps on his back with his arms over his head so this was a wake up moment. This morning when we woke and it was peaceful and quiet, I told him what the surgeon told me. That she was sure this was the melanoma again and that it could just keep repeating itself over and over. His response was that as long as she was willing to take pieces out of him, he was willing to let her!!! Although I kept myself together then, my tears are falling now. He has kept up such a fantastic attitude through this whole journey and I am so very proud of him. We see the oncologist on Wednesday before his chemo infusion and will discuss the future with him. Once again, I can't tell you how important you all are to me. You have been my rock and I am so grateful. I just don't have the words.....
On a lighter note, Mary, I will open at 7 pm my time tonight and then post so that it will be there when you get home.....I will also keep my Ipad with me to check in. I'm so glad the box arrived when it did!!!
I'm off to the shower and then hopefully out to do some shopping. I'll check in later.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We are always here for you Barb, to give you shoulders to lean on when needed! ((((((((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))))
Anxiously waiting to see what is in your box's of goodies!

mulege, Mexico

Barb, You and Norm are both in my prayers. You are both doing so well with your atitiudes in handling whatever happens. Prayers continue.

Susan, WTG on your first day, especially.

Tony is here and found one dead mouse from the traps set yesterday. Traps will be reset.

I slept pretty well but work up with an upset stomach and a rapid trip to the bathroom. No travel today.

Cannot believe $900 for a phone. Pardon my sounding like an old lady, but that is just ridiculous!!

I bought a Sebo vacuum cleaner on eBay. Expensive but light weight and great reviews from CR and the readers who have one. Saved about $100 buying a floor model on ebay.

Must get back to the bathroom.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,

Barb/Norm, big hugs coming your way..not so sure I could be as brave as you both..does help to cry..
You have to know each and every one of us will be here to walk along your side as you journey into the unknown..

Today would have been my 47 wedding anniversary!!! Wonder what would have become of us??

Lovely ride in this morning, clear, tree branches toppled with snow, Christmas tunes playing..felt like driving right past the office and take a play day.

LindaKay, you were asking if 2 snowmen fit in a box..did you want 2?? Was up this morning, cut blades for the skates, scarves for mini-snowman heads and for the 30" snowman..tonight I shall drill all the holes, pack up some glitter/snow and pack up the boxes. Then 6th Annual DG Christmas workshop will be done..

Now going back to the telephone, going to ask Jeff what kind, know it's not just a phone, includes within the phone a tablet of sorts..Jeff just got one for himself...maybe got deal buying 2..lol

Talked to Jeff this morning, he bought that silent brass unit last night for me, this weekend will buy Caleb clothes and a few pieces for Braedon to equal $$$ spent on each and voila..I am done!

Was talking to Suzanne, they have a buyer for Nora's (MIL) house, want to close in the next week, documents sent to all kids (including my 2 boys) to approve sale, if it sells then everyone will get share of house immediately..would be nice for the boys to get bonus $$$ before Christmas. So glad they were included..

Did order my tires, soonest I can get them put on is Monday 4pm in Midland, right next to a Timmies so I'll be all set for the winter.

I ran across this .....

Maybe the ultimate cell phone? For $900 it better be...
Word on the inside is that Nokia will be launching the recently (fcc) approved 4GB hard disk music phone, the Nokia N91, on March 2nd. This handset was first announced back in April, together with the N90 and N70.
The Nokia N91 will feature a 2 megapixel camera, 3.5mm headphone jack, Line-in for recording, Bluetooth, WCDMA, WiFI USB, Macromedia Flash Player, Music Shop, which will allow users to purchase and download music over the air, PC Sync of music files via Windows Media Player 11.
The N91 will also feature Universal Plug and Play, which offers network connectivity of PCs and other wireless devices. UPnP leverages TCP/IP and the Web to enable control and data transfer among networked devices in the home and around the home. UPnP technology can be supported on essentially any operating system.
Other "insider sources" are saying that Nokia will be partnering with Bose, the premier audio maker for headsets. Unfortunately, Nokia won't be including Bose headsets in the Nokia N91 package. Upon purchase, you will get a 20% off coupon for SOME Bose products.
The price of the Nokia N91 is expected to be around $900

Phones just aren't phones anymore are they..think Jeff has his whole life on his..computer, sound system, camera, scheduler..lordy, hate to think what would happen if he lost it.

benefits of hi upgrading all the time is I usually am next in line to get his old phone.

I have problems just trying to turn these things on..

just sent your link to Jeff Jean, thanks

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, if you have time to make another snowman kit, that would be great, If it will fit in the same box. But if not, don't worry about it! I know you are so busy with everything else. No need to make another mess to cut out one more.

What is silent brass?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Reminds me of an old sci-fi story I read ...seems like a buh-zillion years ago. Everyone had temporal implants that allowed them to be "connected" to the world. Ask a question and the data was sent directly to the brain....images, music, literature...etc. Of course the downside was that a megalomaniac gained control of the system and turned everyone into slaves....kinda like what is happening nowdays....slaves to our phones/electronics.

Betty, if they will rob/injure/kill for a $200 pair of shoes....why would they not do the same for a $900 phone?

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, do have an extra already done so will forward it off to you.

Jean, remember how many times we saw shows about 30-40 years ago and thought, omg how ridiculous is that, can never be and now they have surpassed what we thought impossible.

LindaKay, Silent Brass, more hi-tech equipment

http://www.trombone.org/articles/library/viewarticles.asp?ArtID=158

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks Betty, I will get payment out to you!

Silent brass is interesting!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Absolutely. I have seen so many things, especially in the science fiction genera, come to pass. It is often very thought provoking to read stories by John Campbell from the 30's-40's and realize how very close they came to "predicting" the future....about the only thing not realized yet is time travel...and the colonization of space....but we are closer to that than one might think....the MIR space station comes to mind....

Quill had a very difficult night. I spent the night on the floor cradling her. Couldnt cancel dentist so have no idea what I will come home to. My heart is breaking. I dont know if I can weather another loss so soon
(((Barb)))

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Big hugs and good thoughts Dianne. Please know we are with you in spirit.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, hugs as well..overwhelming for you for sure!!!

Just about did me in to know my trusted friend Sailor girl should be playing across the rainbow bridge..her time watching over me was over and know that she fought a good fight to stay by my side so I'd not be lonely....

Perhaps now that you have Diesel, Quill knows that you will be in good hands and is telling you each day is difficult..as you all told me, I would know when it was time, and I did..

Big armwraps as Judy would say!!!

Not so sure Jean that I want to see more hi-tech..when you think about it what have we really accomplished.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I put a Christmas card in the mailbox, with payment for the other snowman kit. Thanks so much!

Dianne, sending you big (((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) too!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh Dianne, My heart is breaking for you and for Quill. I know how very special she is to you and how much you love her. My spirit is with you and my heart is too....But we both know it is His will that be done and my thoughts are turning to "someday"......

Hey Folks....SCAM ALERT

Keep an eye on your credit card/debit card/ bank statements. A company called WGPsupport has made charges to all three in the amounts of $2.50 and $39.95. My credit card company called today to ask about a charge from WGPsupport....I went looking for them...their website never loads and their phones are always busy...I found this info from SCAMBOOK.....seems they started around the 18th of November.

Home from the dentist and Quil is still with us. She seems more alert than when I left but hadn't moved from her spot. Steve was here when I got home so he helped me get her outside. She has trouble moving her back legs but can get better traction outside and moves around on her own. She did eat something out of my hand and that is the first she has eaten in 2 days. I know her time with me is short but I just can't make that decision today. She looks at me with that sweet face of hers and I just smile. As long as we can manouver in and out the door and I can keep Diesel from her jumping on her I will keep her comfortable.I know she will tell me when the time is right.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Dianne, you are absolutely right....You and sweet Quill will know....just love her bunches and know we are all thinking of you both.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Guess with worry about Quill you did not meet up for lunch with your friend?

Imagine that Diesel can sense Quill is not well..

And yes, you will know..woke up that morning and just knew it had to be the day..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jean, that link did not work. Sorry to hear you got scammed, hope the bank refunds your money!

Dianne, glad to hear quill is still around, and eating! That is good news!

Had plans for the evening, was going to drop. Christmas gift at Bernie's, spend a few hours then be home for bingo..

Bernie called, plans changed, won't be home until weekend then Ann called, she is having problems, dizzy (think she does to much) so no bingo.

Had my bath then layed on the chesterfield, I'm afraid projects I should be doing will have to wait, much too comfy to get up..

Did a tote bag for SIL Marg today, needs a button and inserting a pull for and it's ready to wrap..

I earned a rest right..

Dropped into post office, card from my girlfriend Marg, inside was a gift certificate for $50..really nice of her but I know she has better place to put her $$$ and is on limited pension..know she wanted to thank me for my kindness to her a few months ago but why can't we do something nice without someone acing to try and repay that kindness..

Can you see the smoke from the Hitch House fire Betty?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh Mary, you have outdone yourself!!! I am overjoyed with my present. So many things to catch my eye and your generosity with the fabrics for the children knows no bounds. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and now I'm off to make some Timmies!!!!! The coffees are right up my alley and I love the puzzle. Norm is looking to try the tobasco _red and green! - and I can just imagine what they will do to him!!! And the beads - WOW. The little things like the scratch ticket scratcher and the can holder and opener and the crawfish and gator clip are so cute! I just love it all,. Thank you so much. And now can you tell me who the elf was in Canada that sent you the Timmies???? How did I know? There is French writing on the cans and they are sold like that in Canada only!!! The smaller packages of coffee - are they local to your area? We thought we would try some on Sunday morning....
PS I'm sorry I look so tired. but I just loved the beads!!!!!
Edited because I forgot to thank you for the cookbook! I will take it with me tomorrow and look through it while Norm gets his chemo. Nice way to pass the time!!!
