central, NJ(Zone 6b)

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Tumor removed, they think it was cancer but will know for sure in 3-7 days, his motor skills are good and he is responding.... the one thing they def don't want it to be is geloblastoma, that would be bad, keep praying it was benign

Just got a text from my sil they are keeping him 1 more night and doing a another MRI

Thomaston, CT

So sorry, Jen....know how very difficult this is for you......

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Same here, Jen. Yes, glioblastoma is not a good one.

On the socks - absolutely not! They breathe and wick better than anything. I wear them in summer.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Keeping up the good thoughts Jen and hoping for the best.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

best wishes Jen.. going to check those out Victor .. thanks.. my feet are always cold

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Mine too. Go for the heavyweight ones for winter. Smartwool makes great ones. Check out Sierra Trading Post. Their prices are always great and they run extra sales all the time.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks

Went food shopping yesterday and wasn't able to use my debit card, was saying not authorized. I knew there was enough money to cover it and couldn't imaging why it wouldn't work, tried several times until the lady behind me got impatient. Feeling a bit embarrassed by this time, as I didn't have any cash on me either. Asked if they would hold the food so I could run to get money. Called the bank and found out the froze my card due to some strange activity in Spain...3 transactions over a thousand dollars! Makes me not want to use it anymore, my husbands was compromised last month at the gas station or HD for a couple of hundred bucks.

Thomaston, CT

Scary.....I found an unauthorized charge on my credit card, supposedly from the bank...I just called, & they took it off, said it was not their charge....had their name, though! You have to be so careful, I read every little line now on any statement......

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

that is scary - have had a few charges in the past that were fradulent and had them removed by the CC company without issue.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Debit cards shouldn't be used at gas stations, that's where the info gets stolen the most

I had 1 charge from Japan on my regular card once, it was $25, they usually start with low amounts and see if you notice, I noticed right away since I've never been to Japan!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Scary for sure. Glad it was resolved. I now call my cc company before heading out on a trip to let them know.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Had experiences with 2 super nice people yesterday
The girl ringing me up at Dunkin Donuts gave me a free pumpkin muffin and a lady at Bed Bath and Beyond gave me her coupon

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hate people like that! ^_^

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I made my holiday tree today."Trellis with Lights and Balls"
Night version will follow later.

Don't you love
that Jen! Pretty tree Jo.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

ooohh nice JoAnn.. please post it in the decorations thread!!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Watching the news.I am starting to count the number of items that have store security cameras taking pix of shop lifters. It seems every 5 minutes there is another new one.
Tis the Season.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Sigh. That means I'll have more work at my job! If the shoplifter is bipolar they may claim to be psychotic and I have to decide if it's true or not. The Courts I cover include all the huge shopping districts. A less depressing problem than the number of suicidal people seen about now.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

What percentage of shoplifters have personality disorders ?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

100%, according to their lawyers.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

I have never heard of that defense for shop lifting - although now that I think about it that was probably what those sisters used a while back when they ran off and left the baby behind.....................

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

L O L It must be the thrill of putting the stuff on EBAY to make a killing.

Thomaston, CT

Nice tree, Jo....I'm not in a creative spirit right now, so I went to the nursery & bought a cyclamen, pointsettia, & white Christmas cactus.....

Yeah, I saw that on FB. I agree! Reminds me of a street in Quebec City that I fell in love with.

I listen to Holiday Traditions on XM and one of the things I really like is how they play audio snippets from great Christmas movies, tv shows and specials, including many of the Bob Hope shows for the troops. I get very nostalgic for that. Always loved Bob Hope and so appreciated what he did.

WTH I got an email from Comcast saying my cc account needed to be updated because it wasn't authorizing payment...new something was not right...never authorized them with a cc in the first place...link took me to what seemed to be an xfinity sight to update my info, which I wasn't going to do...called comcast to find out what was going on, they said it was a scam and to report it which I did. The holidays for me are gettin scary!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Most of those get caught in my spam folder
No legitimate company will send you an email and tell you to click on a link

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I checked out that link to that Ry Cooder piece, Jo, and I really liked it. Would be be considered blues? I'm usually not into blues type music, but I liked that a lot.

Marilyn, I would prefer to shop at small specialty stores and such, but often can't afford to, so end up shopping at Walmart and such. Someday things will be different for me, though, I firmly believe that.

Jen, I'll be praying for your BIL. That's scary.

Marilyn, one of my close friends is bi-polar. She's a great person, but when in her bi-polar depressions she does and says things that she doesn't even remember later, and she will lie and hide things and spend money like it's going out of style. It's so totally out of character to what she is normally like. Really sad, cause she's a good person, and will go out of her way to help people out. As far as I know, she's never done any shop lifting. She is on disability for her mental illness. She has multiple diagnoses, unfortunately, and has been in and out of all the local psychiatric hospitals in this area. She could write a book on her experiences.

Jo, I like your "tree". Very creative.

Nice new plants, Marilyn. I especially like the poinsettia. I saw those at Walmart today and wanted to get one. Maybe I'll go back this weekend and snatch one up (not shoplifting, lol).

Wow, scary stuff with fraud and such these days.

Enjoying all your Holiday comments leading up to the "Big Day" & jealous of all ~ ~ ~ w/assumably far better computers than our 8 yr. old (HP) in this house & shared .... plus your cameras & other "toys" to plug into said computers to do so many wonderful things. Even the 6 yrs. w/REAL Apple 'puter's in my office where I put out a monthly snowmobile paper, then retiring 16 yrs. ago & (at great expense) purchased my 1st new Apple Mac, scanner, & software to do photos/graphics, my own Holiday cards, created my own geneaology charts & as old & dead as they are (3 total) I could do "stuff" near 1/2 equivelant to some of the new stuff today. And w/time flying faster than Superman on steroids, I'm not sure if any super influx of $$$ would put me back in that ball-park w/the latest, best Apple. (I'd have to take the classes they offer ~ more $$$ ~ for probably forever.) Keep those precious photos of gardens & pets coming. Thank You!

C.K. from the Cap in VT. (13 degrees this morning) deep thanks to my DH for running the wood stove from early aft. to maybe 9:30 pm when he lets it begin the slumber ~ smells great & helps on our fuel $$$. And heartful prayers for those in need.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Stay warm, CK! Glad to see you post.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Brrrr!!!! Yes, stay warm!

Don't feel so bad. My computer is old, too. I think it's at least 5 years old with Windows XP. It's becoming ancient.

On the subject of shoplifting:

Personality disorders are not a defense for shoplifting, but people with bipolar illness do get hyperactive and think they can buy or even steal things. If it's a first offense, then a lawyer can try to use the mental health defense to get probation and a CWOF (continued without a finding) on the condition that the person goes into treatment and that they take their medicine, but they're considered responsible for their actions. People with personality disorders more frequently commit larceny and that's for big bucks.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks for straightening that out.It surely seemed to be a difference.

Thomaston, CT

Victor, I like Bob Hope as well.....Karen, my computer is just as old, but works well.....not changing it yet, still having problems finding a used Tahoe....all the ones that I can afford....and some that I can't....have had multiple owners, & the dealerships don't know the car....red flag for me.
