aaww poor baby.. and your poor ears

I don't know why she cries. I just turn up my book and drive on.

It is confirmed - all three cats are HypoThyroid. So I have two cases of spontaneous Hypo - unrelated cats in the same household with no symptoms of Hypo. This has never been seen before - maybe they will get written up in a Journal and become famous! The youngest, healthiest of the bunch has hardly any thyroid!

Thomaston, CT

Very weird! Can they be treated without too much expense?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Actually - they don't need any treatment because they have no symptoms. They will stay in the study so the blood work and nuclear imaging will be free. I am sending the Vet a complete list of everything they eat and he will look for some thyroid suppressor in their food.

wow amazing

scientists will look at anything.

Thomaston, CT

Hope they nail it!

Durhamville, NY(Zone 5b)

I'm glad they have no symptoms. Maybe "normal" cat thyroid levels very more than thought before. That would make you cats kind of special.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I think dogs dressed in clothes are really cute, although I'm sure they could care less about it. I bought Patches a cute winter jacket, and now I have one for Jerry, too, although he's getting his for Christmas.

Max is adorable!

Well, it's good to know your cats have no symptoms. I'm wondering now how many cats actually have thyroid problems that go undetected for years until symptoms show up.

Re: cat thyroid levels There IS a big question on exactly how many cats have low thyroid issues. Wallingford is younger than the age where Vets ask to take senior cat panels - I just thought it prudent. I think he has had blood panels before and the thyroid was OK. However we know that one year ago HollyCat had a normal thyroid level and now she doesn't. It has got to be something that I am feeding or something in my house. I'm just thankful that they aren't sick. And yes Doug, they are special - at least to me. :)

Notice Crash looking skinnier again. Will have to get his level tested and perhaps modify the med dose.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

Salem seems to be picking up weight after the vet suggested to add 1/2 can of cat food to his free feed.

Durhamville, NY(Zone 5b)

On a different subject I just realized that not only do I have a fur kid I also have fur friends. Dogs, mostly, that I see once in a while that are friendly. A neighbors hound dog that will make a bee line over to me if I'm out and he's loose in his yard. The dog of an ex girl friend that I have remained friends with. The woman I mean. The dog is always happy to see me.

Ugh! Now that kids are home Cliffie is devouring all the gingerbread. Proof that college makes dogs healthier-- because we older ones put things away.

Thomaston, CT

Cliffie must be in heaven!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I hope Crash is ok, Victor.

That's great news on Salem, Jumper.

Sounds like Jerry, Rosemary.

I think I posted on here, awhile back, on how Tom and I got a Neapolitan Mastiff...his name is Masso. I wanted a dog that I could have as a couch buddy, so we researched and we ended up getting a Basset Hound, Paisley. We decided we liked the Neo so much, that we wanted to breed them...after extensive talks with the breeder, we purchased a 2nd Neo, a female, named Luma. So in one years time, we went from just having Theta, to having Theta, Masso, Paisley and Luma. Masso just turned 1 year old the beginning of December, Paisley is almost 5 months old, and Luma is about 9 1/2 weeks old.

The 1st pic is Masso when he was maybe 2.5-3 months old...give or take, the one with him on the couch was taken in November, I believe. The one with Tom and the 3 puppies was taken the day after we got Luma.

wow your family is growing

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great faces!

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

By leaps and bounds. lol. The Neo is a really cool breed, once you get past all of the "ifs." I look back on the puppy pictures and can't believe how huge he's gotten in such a short time.

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

Thank you!

Durhamville, NY(Zone 5b)

Nice looking dogs. I just love large dogs.

Thomaston, CT

My neighbor has a Neo...his 2nd...walks him over our dam every day....he's good-natured, but not sure he likes my Suey....

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Sounds like you have a full house, Thom. Neos are too drooly for me. I love Bassets. I have 2 Basset mixes. Patches is a Basset/Dalmatian (Bassamatian) and Jerry is a Basset/Labrador (Bassador). I love them both, but Patches is my favorite.

great pics Karen

Kershaw, SC(Zone 8b)

They are uber drooly...we have bar towels placed strategically throughout the house. lol. Paisley is a really friendly dog, almost to friendly, lol... We have an outside cat, we have a huge field mice, mole issue...so instead of traps/poison, outside cat. His name is Butters (forgot to mention him before), Paisley eats his catches...frequently.

Cute pup pictures :-)

Thomaston, CT

Bassets have such lovely eyes....

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Thom! LOL on the drool! If I were to ever have a big dog, it would be a Great Dane. I love them.

Nice shots, Karen! How is your dad?

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Victor. Dad took a fall at the nursing home the day before Christmas. A lot of bruising, but no breaks. He's been in pain, but was doing well when we saw him last night for his birthday. He's 83 now.

Here are some pics of Jerry and Patches with their new Christmas outfits in front of the tree (I think Patches outfit looks silly, but my sister got that for her, and I got the one for Jerry, good one for him to wear during hunting season).

It's telling me I have to sign in...weird

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

opened for me.. I can say I have a co-worker who shares that view.. they only kept dogs to alert them of someone approaching and later eat them.. he couldn't believe we let them inside our homes

Thomaston, CT

I'm glad our culture, for the most part, treats pets humanely.....if you live with them, you understand how incredibly smart & empathetic they are......
