They choose NOW to mulch up the branches from the tree we cut down?
FRANKENSTORM CHECK-IN THREAD
We had snow starting around 2 in NYC, but nothing is sticking. Cold, though, and nasty wind. Brrrr...
Last night I found out that a friend in Sea Gate lost most of her house and is staying with her elderly mother. Today a guy in the building was bringing up an odd assortment of items in the elevator, salvage from his house on the Jersey Shore. "Whatever wasn't soaked," he said.
Good luck everyone...
that's horrible
Went out to put out the recycles - wow! Got stung by the snow/ice hitting my face. So windy. Forecast 4-6 inches.
My heart is aching for all of you. I pray you are dry and warm and have adequate food sources. Hot water and all the things we take for granted. God bless each of you.
Christi
Just lost cable, but the lights are still on!
Lights are the most important. Nothing worth our time on earth on cable anyway.
glad you are ok Weeze
offer still stands .. if you need it.. hope they stay on for you
Yeah, way too soon for this!
Wow, Weeze! Your street looks terribly blocked to traffic. I'd think your second picture was pretty except I fear for the snowstorm's destruction. Your photography is really good.
Only a little freezy stuff on the windshield last night. so sorry about the snow. Some of my relatives in Hunterdon county are still without power.
Pretty well hammered by this nor'easter.....around 8" out there....took my son hours to get home last night.....ironically, he only got 2" where he lives, & that's usually snowville.....my grandkids were lamenting that they didn't have enough snow to build a snowman...
We only got 2 -3" also, but it's sleeting out there now
Not much left this AM. School normal. Still gusty.
I think we got 9" and it is HEAVY!
wow that is a lot of snow - raining here now and hoping this stuff melts today so i can finish raking over the weekend and get the bulbs planted.
we got 5" it 's very heavy snow and found some broken branches on climbing rose, honeysuckle and butterfly bush
Glad everyone seems to be okay from last week's storm. Yay for Allison for getting the power back. Glad to hear Weeze is well. I hope we hear from Louise and Hank soon. Thanks to all who have giving up good thoughts and encouragement, etc.
Karen
Glad everyone came this one OK...only a covering here but pretty windy. I'm so not ready for this crap yet :-(
frost bits, but mostly off & on rain. Lost power for about an hr. It must have been a local problem because got the Boston radio station on the tiny portable radio.
amazing the snow on the front lawn was gone when I came home
Not too much snow or wind here thankfully. I went to work today - they have a generator but there is very little heat and light. Kind of hard to work without internet. So I will stay home until Monday. I can check my work emails from home. Yesterday I had 6000 plus emails. So I have some work to do here at home.
There are so many co-workers who have been told they might get their power back after thanksgiving. It's so sad.
wow that's terrible.. I was hearing on the news that they said in LI that they might not have power into the new year?????
Whoa! Think I would move to a warmer place fast.....Snow is still covering the lawn here, but a lot has melted....
My bro lost power on LI.
ugh.. so many areas still without power.. just crazy
Response at all levels has been horrible. Utility and gov, local state and federal. Disgraceful.
do not buy that - this was mother nature at her worst - hard to plan for the devastation - i think it gives folks in the NE a view of Katrina type damage and that it is not fixed in a blink.
Maine sent State troopers to NJ last week after Sandy. Then they sent Fire Fighters to NY, sent linemen to CT. and now 25 Central Maine Power trucks are en-route to Western NJ to help.
I called yesterday and asked why we weren't helping other States out if we aren't in need. They informed me they had been helping and that trucks were heading to Jersey today (yesterday)!!

amazing seeing all the out of state plates around.. even up here where there is not as much damage
I wanted to make sure as I guess lots of others did too as the lady said I wasn't the first to call and ask. LOL I just remember the out pour of support we got when the ice storm decimated out State in 1998. I hoped our State was heeding the call of the ones in need.
These are roads in my area when it happened, out of state crews is what saved us....just wanted to make sure our State is giving back!!
Pixie,
Maryland has been sending crews and out of state crews to NJ, etc since last weekend. Don't know about troops or police.
What do out of state crews do for gas for their 24/7 work...?
I'm with you WHa, definitely not fixable in a blink.
May all of our spirits of compassion in the face of longterm need stay strong and active as we practice moment to moment resiliency.
One niece near Flemington, NJ got power yesterday afternoon, but her brother and sister are still without.
Yes, it's a tough storm, but the point is you would think every one of these is the first. They NEVER learn/improve.
