Weather In Your Garden # 123 Crossing another bridge.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Coming from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1281275/

It's overcast and 45 high of 55 today. We already have alerts for high winds coming in tomorrow, 50 - 60 mph gust but Maine will be spared the brunt of this storm.
A storm is like crossing a bridge in the fog, you don't know what you will encounter going through it and have no idea what awaits you on the other side. My prayers and thoughts go out to you who are in a direct line, please stay safe and let us know ASAP that your alright!

Wind has dropped at the moment 56° A lot more leaves have come down which may help. Glad the neighbors took down a very tall pine tree last week. It was near the street & the type which would fall across electric wires.

Jim is outside blowing leaves. Good Grief.

annapolis, MD(Zone 7b)

Morning all,

Here are some images and charts from the Gapital Weather Gang blog

3) rain

Lots of people got their boats out of the water already around here.
Martha

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Yesterday the Atlantic was serene, today, not so much. The first 3 are Bay Head, NJ. The last 2 are Pt Pleasant/Manasquan Inlet. Pretty amazing since the storm center is still 500 miles away.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I hope we don't lose power. I hate being without power. Hate being stuck in the house with no TV or internet. *SIGH*

Today is gray and slightly windy at 8 mph. Wunderground says we'll get 25-40 mph sustained winds tomorrow, with 65 mph gusts. At least I'm off work tomorrow.

Karen

I am not Grunting yet.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Good to see you, Weeze. Be safe everyone. Just waiting and waiting!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No school tomorrow.

Thomaston, CT

All of CT is closed tomorrow....

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

Lots of stuff closed here. People took their boats out of the water. We are as battened down as we can get. I made banana bread.
Martha

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Very, very windy here. No substantial rain yet. Cat is extremely PO'd because he wasn't allowed out today.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

very windy here.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Crazy SNOW forecast for W VA. As of now, we are not supposed to get that much rain.

South Hamilton, MA

We are now in the the predicted 2-4" of rain. Winds this afternoon & sprinkles the same have died down. Got food that didn't have to be refrigerated. Can use sterno for cooking if we have to, also plenty of sandwich stuff. DH mentioned that his first hurricane was the'38 one on Long Island. He's glad that he doesn't live there now.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I'm glad I don't live there, either. We got a lot of meat the other day. Freezer is stocked, so I hope we don't lose power. I'm turning down the temp in it, just as a precaution. With all that food in there, it will take a good long time to thaw. If we only loose power for a few hours to a day, then I don't think we will lose much food.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That '38 one was a biggie.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

My friend lives about 50 yards from the Sound.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Hi Everyone,

I thought I'd come here and see what the weather is up to around you and to wish you all good luck.

Harper

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Hello, Harper. Good luck to you, too. I can hear the wind getting stronger out there.

Karen

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

getting nervous already.. been cleaning all morning.. so far just windy here

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Raining lightly here, 50 now...it's warm for Maine! We have warnings for 60mph gust but otherwise it will be mostly coastal flooding.
We are being spared this storm....praying for all of you in the direct line. Especially those to the right side of the storm...thats where the strongest winds are. :(

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

quite a few of us in the bad stuff.. worried about everyone

annapolis, MD(Zone 7b)

Almost 3 inches of rain already. Wind fairly strong and gusty. They are saying going outside after about noon here will be life threatening. Have seen crews/convoys of utility workers arriving from as far away as Texas Oklahoma Illinois Welcome to all those who have come to help and prayers for safety of all who must be out in harms way.

Will miss checking in with you all if/when power goes. Wish we all were ham radio types and could keep chatting somehow. Wonder how our cell phone coverage will fare?

Stay safe all.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Windy here, town crew out this morning clearing leaves from storm drains.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

I think we will have about the same weather as Celeste - hoping all the leaves come down.

Hope everyone comes out of this OK

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Wishes and prayers for all to be snug and safe! I was lucky that DS was home yesterday to work with me in the drizzle putting pots and tables away. All three made it to their colleges by midnight with no problems. The colleges and government in Mass are closed but they are telling us to work at home. Since power has already been off at least twice this morning, that's pretty unlikely for much longer.

We are predicted to have a big range of wind speeds, so noone knows. I'd say the predictions in Boston area have been between 60 mph and 75 mph. Rain is not the worry in this region. My house is sheltered in a valley so we expect to be fine, even if in the dark.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

lots of wind and rain here from the storm. flood warnings here too. the Lake is very high.

South Hamilton, MA

Small bits of rain here on the north shore. Heard the wind all night. It has brought down a lot of leaves which is helpful. I think the wind is being deflected by the high ridge east of us. Did laundry this morning to make sure of it if power out for a couple days. DH hung it up in basement so we won't have to run the drier.

Durhamville, NY(Zone 5b)

It's funny we are dead still here right now, and have been for hours.
