we did the same.. jammed a water bottle in any open space in the freezer
Coffee Break # 86 Fall is here!
Must fill picnic jug with water. Not to help food but for drinking is long period without power. We are not in flood plain so no trouble there. Tornado & hurricane details are different. Hurricane winds are constant & can blow for a couple days. staying away from windows is a good idea. Our only large window is at the back of the living room. High winds can bring down trees or parts of same.
The best place to be in a hurricane is high ground, well away from the shore, rivers, etc. Flooding causes the most deaths....of course, a tree can always fall onto your house......hope this storm is more hype than anything, but you do have to prepare for the worst....
Too many people are acting like this is the end of the world! Calm down. Latest track shows it hitting even further south so CT will not be hit nearly as bad as first thought if true.
WHEW!
On the down side, it has strengthened. ^_^
Gutters are clear. Porch plastic sheets are back up. Have lots of wine!
Latest predicted track.

Thanks for posting that.
The last that I saw we & Fairfield are in the 1-3" of rain zone. We can handle that. How much wind with it? People with boats are securing them here on the north shore.
I feel so bad for Allison - all her decorations...
Weather Channel just showed storm coming into central NJ......hope it's further south, but not holding my breath!
and that's just the track of Sandy(tropical force winds felt 450 miles away, very HUGE storm) you have the other 2 storms that are going to collide with it, saying with the artic blast it will be about 2" of snow also on top of 1' of rain and then on top of that it's going to be a full moon so all the shore communities are going to get hammered!
yard is completely clear of anything that could go airborne and I even had time to do some planting
The owner of the produce store in town gave me 2 blossoming lilies today which I planted...had to get another pumpkin because the lovely squirrels ate mine! I need something to carve in case we still have Halloween on Wed.
FIOS gives a battery for at least 8 hours of backup for phone service.
Jen and Allison - are you in touch (cell/text) with Jan and Weeze?
I'll do the best I can to keep you guys up to date. Jeff's school in Delaware has already called off for Monday and Tuesday.
I have Weeze's cell
Worried about Memory sitting on the coast......
I don't have Jan's
Marilyn - I am at 1000' above sea level - so flooding will not be a problem. Also about 8 blocks from a major hospital and 6 blocks from an AT&T building so I seldom lose power for very long. I spent all day today and yesterday moving everything that could fly around in my yard and the neighbor's yard into my garage. Well part of the day was spent condensing the garage so I could get the catio in - but that counts. Although the cats are none too happy about not being able to go outside!
My niece's due date is Wed. Hope she does not go during the storm! They live on LI.
Victor has my cell. I'll check in when I can. If you look at a map we are right at the top of the Del. Bay near the curved section. I'm about a quarter mile from the river and above 10' feet above sea level. For some reason I don't feel anxious about this event. Yes, there will be some flooding in town, but not usually in my area except at the intersections.
We'll keep check on our neighbors.
Celeste are you saying you planted all that today???
Wonder Woman!!!!
Yes, ugh!
Showoff!! ;)
Nice butt! ^_^
LOL and...I have hair in this drawing!
Sadly, even my drawings are bald.
hee hee
^_^
Glad to know you aren't in a major flood zone, Memory! Suey will not be happy her walks will be suspended during the high winds! Pixie, you are a worker of the world...the bulbs will look great in the spring......Try reading a funny book before you fall asleep.....anything by Laura Levine or Dorothy Howell will do the trick....
I prefer either a benedryl or kaluha and cream, both put me right out.
those are beautiful Celeste!!!.. will pray the baby will wait until it passes
Dang Celeste! You made my back hurt even more just thinking about that! It's going to be beautiful come spring.
Yeah I only planted about 40 bulbs and my legs were killing me from having to step up onto the bulb planter esp on the slope of the berm
Bulbs just thought about here. Will wait until after the 'doings'.
