I love it.
I saw a Apple Pie baked with a Bacon crust on top.
FYI Trader Joes has Thick cut bacon smoked in Apple wood.

Saw Wreck it Ralph yesterday, it was good, but once again stole a character, King Kandy was the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland....are there really no more original characters in the cartoon world?

You're right Jen. That was character theft all the way. I did like that movie a lot, though.

Who watched The Following? I liked it but wasn't blown away..will continue to tune in though. Acting was pretty good but a typical "cop" show I thought.

I will give it a chance on "on demand" But I need to eliminate some of the shows with gore.

I'm still watching Arrow and trying to stay interested in SOMETHING.

Just finished watching Hugo with the family. Wow. Great movie. Absolutely loved it. Scorsese is in a class of his own. Visually stunning. Incredible sound and music and a great, great story.

His movies are great but a bit too long to make the point for my taste. I liked Gangs of NewYork and some of his others.He was interviewed and said research was his passion.

Victor I have HUGO sitting here on the TV stand, was going to watch it tomorrow night. :)

I think Hugo was the first movie I saw in "modern" 3D. We liked it too, and thought it would still be good in 2D.

what's that rated?

PG. I only realized after reading about the movie after we watched it, that it was made in 3D. Silly. I am surprised Scorsese gave in and did that. Was perfectly fine without that gimmicky crap.

Watched Men in Black last night. Cute. Had never seen. Sad to see the towers in many scenes.

There was actually a hot debate in Hollywood about inclusions of Twin Tower scenes;

I seem to recall a "Home Alone" version that edited out the painful images...fortunately, I can't remember the discussion, not something I want to-revisit (call me a wimp, it just hurts too much, still....)

Several TV shows, and films too, had to wrestle with the issue.

NBC show "Will and Grace" did a deliberate (expensive) street scene to show normality/solidarity; the Hugh Grant/Sandra Bullock film "Two Weeks Notice" (sic) made a point of publicizing its "first on the block" willingness to film locally across NYC.

Still hurts....

I rarely go to the movies.I rent from netflix and in some occasions buy a DVD.
I just aquired the 3rd season of Downton Abby ( no I am not a spoiler)
I am also reading Julian Fellows "Snobs" and "Lady Almina the Real Countess of Downton Abby"

Saw Quartet - Dustin Hoffman's first directorial effort - about romance and intrigue at a home for retired musicians. (or Love at Lento tempo). Maggie Smith as usual is terrific. Lots of good music, too.

Jumper,thanks.I also got "Past Imperfect" not great reviews but I'll wade thru it.
Fellows writes Downton Abby,his ancestral home.He also wrote Gosford Park. He is also a life time Peer of the relm so he knows his way around the linen and silver.

The Spacey thing IS a Netflix production, not in theaters.

Fellows is good friends with the current Earl and Countess. It's not his home.


edited to say: saw an interview with the Countess about the show and book. She said that Fellows is a very good friend of theirs and stays often.

Let us know how you liked it.Its all over the envelop from Netflix.When a show is hyped that much I am really cautious.

DH Mark and I liked the first episode. Kevin Spacey gives asides directly to the camera which is interesting. THe first few minutes blasted by as he quickly 'introduced' some major characters but bear with it.

Spacey is a long time COngressman who feels insulted at being denied a promised post by a new president. So he embarks on some highjinks and manipulations in order to get revenge. First episode sets that up and introduces several interesting major characters. (the ambitious in her own right wife, a young ambitious female newspaper reporter, screw up younger representative who will become Spacey's pawn )

Read an extensive story in our local paper about all the people who binge-viewed the whole series in a few days.

No, have not seen it yet.

Talk about how far we have stooped as a society - I read that in a skit on SNL, Justin Bieber tweeted a photo of his genitals to Hillary Clinton. He is what, 18, and she about 65?? Scary that there are people who actually think this is funny.

That's nauseating....

I dont believe it. There seems to be a movement to unseat Bieber as top heart throb.
