Is she getting any better about you going off to work?

Yes when she is in Sing Sing lock down like Victor.

Thomaston, CT

Sherrie, that's a photo to keep & frame!

I should of been a photographer. Remember when I chased the albino squirrel & got the shot.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Love that shot!

too cute!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Adorable, Sherry.

Ronnie, you posted a link to a great article, albeit long and rather difficult to understand at times, I think on FB. That led me to find these 2 great articles:

Jerry took off on us tonight. Was gone for about half an hour. Don't know what he got into, but he came home with a bulging belly. He does this now and then. If our attention gets distracted, he'll just disappear. In this case it was on my sister's watch. She was outside with him seeing our dinner guests off and getting something from her car. Obviously she was distracted, and it doesn't take much. Hope he doesn't get sick.

I hope he is ok as well

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks for the links Karen. I hope Jerry is OK.

Thomaston, CT

Sounds like Jerry is a houdini....hope he didn't get into any bad stuff......

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Jerry seems to be fine. Probably got into someone's trash. That wasn't the first time he ran off like that, and probably won't be the last. Patches used to do it, too. Sure wish I could afford to put in the electronic fencing. Would make things much easier. Patches mostly sticks around on the property these days.

Karen - Some dogs just don't "get" electronic fencing - so it might not be the answer after all.

Sampson Thunderpaws just got his "usual" Tuesday night appointment at the Vets. Keeping fingers crossed that the treatment for Giardia worked and my credit card can have a rest.

FYI - he is going in his Halloween costume - he is a dust bunny this year. (Gray - very long haired cat)

Thomaston, CT

Oh, cute Samson! Hope he's doing fine.....Suey goes back to the vet next week for her 2nd flu shot....I haven't gotten mine yet....

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I'd like to see a pic of the "dust bunny"!!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I will send one when I get home tonight.

Is Jerry neutered?

Thomaston, CT

Samson is a handsome boy!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Thank you. He's a good, but expensive, boy and I love him.

Molly goes in her cage when I go to work. I worked today & this is her bed in her cage.

Uh, oh.....little separation anxiety? She needs some tranquilizing meds!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Jen, yes, Jerry was neutered when we got him. He just likes to go out sniffing at things, and he knows there's good stuff to be had out of trash cans and off of people's porches. He took a turkey carcass off our neighbor's porch behind us last year, and has come home with a loaf of bread from there, too. He knows where the good stuff is, and I have found him over at their house more often than not.

Jerry has done what Molly did to her bed. I stopped buying stuffed beds for him. I found a nice, fluffy blanket for him, good sized so it could be folded up for more cushion for him, and I have not had any problems since. He just loves tearing stuffing out of things. I don't get him stuffed toys for that reason.

I'd be worried about him digging around anyone's garbage esp if they don't know it's him getting in there and they decide to put out some poison or something
I couldn't put anything in Wall-e's crate ripped it up.

Also things like the turkey have sharp bones. Unfortunately hounds are prone to roaming & getting into things.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Poor Molly, definitly looks like separation anxiety :-(

Perhaps if you have a radio on, it will feel like someone is in the house.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I do worry about him, Jen, but the darn dog just totally ignores me when he gets it in his head to take off. He did it again this morning. Wasn't gone more than 5 or 10 minutes. Was across the street at the neighbors. He was outside with his dog on a leash. Brought Jerry over to the street. I kept calling and calling him to come, but all he wanted to do was play with the neighbor's dog. Totally ignored me. I had both dogs out to go potty. Got distracted by a weed in the garden. Had my eyes off of him for about 30 seconds, and he was gone. Didn't even see which way he went. Grrrr!!!!

With Jerry the tearing out of the the stuffing in the bed in his crate was not seperation anxiety. He just likes to tear stuffing out of things.

Karen

I think its the same with Molly, she just likes to chew. The owner of Miss Molly is going to have to step up to the plate and let her know that she is bad with a newspaper or something. Her owner "ME" has not spent the time I should. I am dumb so what does that make Molly?

Molly wont stay in the yard. Call her & call her she wont come. So what happens? She goes out, she is tied. She is getting better when Jim & I are out and keep an eye on her. I think time will tell.

They are all different...Suey is Velcro......

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

glad my yard is fenced even when someone left the gate open all night Wall-e didn't go anywhere(or not that I know of, he might have left and come back LOL)

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I usually keep Jerry tied when I'm working in the yard. He does well at entertaining himself with toys while tied up, too. Sometimes I'll let him be out where I'm working, but there are times when I don't want to keep looking up to see if he's behaving. Mostly he does, but I just never know when he's going to get it in his head to wander off.

Patches I can leave loose in the yard. She pretty much stays on the property, although one of my neighbors came looking for me in the backyard to let me know Patches was loose and on the street. We live on a very quiet road, but still.... She thought maybe Patches was supposed to be tied up, but I told her she's usually good and sticks around.

There was a male downy woodpecker caught on my porch this morning....I got out the old straw hat to guide him to the door, when he fell over backward at my feet, & looked at me upside down! His feathers were so soft! I put him in the hat, & carried him off the porch thinking of a burial site, when he rocketed off.....happy, happy for both of us....

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Aww glad he was OK!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh, poor thing must have been in shock. Glad he's okay.

Is that the kind of woodpecker that's "large" upclose, compared to other birds?

I remember being very near a woodpecker several years ago (I don't know what kind), and was amazed at how big it was.

Sort of like getting close to a seagull...bigger than expected.

Glad yours was OK !
