thanks... Joanna's hubby (and Don too) found it interesting... but our pictures really don't do it justice.
Thanks for the video link... that's a wonderful way to show them.
2012 Sistah's Gathering at Betty's..Week of
Didn't look at the video..must do! The hydraulics are difficult to explain aren't they..how's the weather in your neck of the woods?
HOT !!! Intensely HOT.
Here's a great video about the locks systems on the Trent/Severn Waterway
We saw the one and only rail way type lock in the world... and it's shown in this video.
But there's 44 locks on this waterway, and some are entirely hydrolic... great explanation in this video.
Locks fascinate me... and I really, thoroughly enjoyed watching the Big Chute Railway operate.

Thanks B.J., I lived atop the last lock on the system.
Jeff and Julie are leaving on the 14th doing the Trent by kayak..Jeff has done it several times and blogs it..should see if I can find it..he describes many of their experiences. Kayak vs boats
We are pretty warm here, but nothing like you are experiencing BJ....and cooler compared to yesterday here.
I have caught up on my naps today. lol Two down so far. Ya'll done worn me out!
Debbie
I'm thinking the same Debbie, will take me all week to recoup...thank goodness I'm home tomorrow! Absolutely nothing planned so far for the weekend except cut grass and a quick trip to Midland to show insurance company my car..apparently there is some kind of scam going on and insurances now have to do visual to see that nothing is wrong with car they insure.
Can you believe I'm already laying on the chesterfield, feet up, watching tv..talk about lazy!!
LOL WHEW.... I'm sure glad you ladies admitted to being tired.
It took me two full days to get rested up... didn't get a blasted thing done around here until today...
Took a nap both Tues and Wed... and slept like a baby both nights...
I think I'm rested up now though.
It's 5:30pm... and it's 106 degrees (F)...
sheesh I miss Betty's weather.
106? OMGosh...I would melt into the pavement. I have just been a slug today!
86 here, slight breeze..about the same for tomorrow then come weekend and next week in the 70's
Suzanne is worried about the weather in New Orleans beginning of August, am sure if I told her around 106 she wouldn't go with me
BJ we have the same weather! Its so dry here its unreal, & between 105*-110* every day for I think 3 weeks now. Some of the trees are going dormant which adds to the dryness.
106!? Spare me..............
here we had a hail/rain storm, with a tornado watch to the NW of Calgary. I know there were high winds, but don't know if there actually was a tornado that touched down there.
Well, found something nice happened to us yesterday.
some of you will remember my "fight" with the City to get our mobile levelled BY the City......... they were saying it wasn't their fault our mobile's blocks were twisting, and "(we're) moving it in 2 years anyway, why not wait?!)
Our den's ceiling and walls were separating from each other and water was getting in behind the drywall, our bedroom was off level, etc, etc.
Well.......... the City came by yesterday am while both Bob & I were at work, and They Levelled The Mobile! Bob checked underneath, and the pillons that were twisted are now straight, the ceiling and wall at one side of the den (where they were separating) have almost closed the gap, and the bedroom is now on the level (my dresser is level, for sure!).
Now Bob is going to tear down the one wall in our den and replace the (now wet) insulation and drywall, and replace it with plywood and screw it to the beams and ceiling. This will make it more secure and get rid of the wet stuff.
They have NOT contacted us to pay for the work. They'd said, beforehand, that if it were the City's issue they'd pay. If it were our issue, they'd let us know and we'd have to make arrangements with the company to have it fixed and pay for it. We never signed off to have the work done, and the City hasn't contacted us, so I guess it was on "their dime"! All I can say is "Yaaaaaaaaaaay!" and "it's about time our place is levelled!!"
I'm so pleased that I'm going to get in touch with our alderman and thank him, and the City. After all, when Thanks are due, they should be given, right? I'm just sorry for those others who aren't "squeaky wheels" like I am LOL
Susan, that is great news! All the wet dry wall can not be healthy for anyone!
Betty, I have never seen a lock work like that one! That is pretty cool to watch!
For those interested... and are not friends with my sis on Facebook.
Joanna may not be a member here, but she has posted a wonderful entry in her blog on her art site.
(just don't count off for spelling... she'll get that fixed shortly)

Here we are, working from home today so should be able to post up to DG friends leaving for home...that was the sad part!!!
Yikes, guess who was in trouble for NOT cleaning her fire pit as much as we needed..had to be pure soil for the Prayer Fire
Judy and Joanna worked on it...Judy showed me her blisters...oh/
Not once but twice did she show me...lol
The 'armwrap' for each and everyone of you!!!
Our sistha's Stacey and Janice were dressed and having breakfast in Midland but are included in the armwrap which was sent to each of you...
By now, some were getting ready to leave..sad to see them go but also thrilled that they took time from their busy schedules to make the trip...I was overwhelmed that Paul and Steve came along to join us..hope they continue to do so
I was really surprised how well behaved Jonathan was....being close to two years old and all. They usually are into everything! He is a sweet little boy.
HOW did I miss that.....those are too cute!!
That is just one pair, were all waiting on the rest of the pictures???
Lol. Only Joyce got a pair, guess we could have modeled our undies but NOT. Lol
Think you were already on your way to Dianne's when June came
By the way, how is Dianne?
Toledo got hit very hard with rain and wind yesterday. 70,000 without power and Stacey is among them! The temp is supposed to be 102 today and into tomorrow. My son in Findlay is in northern Michigan on vacation so Chris and Stacey went down to Findlay and borrowed his generator so they can have air and save what is in the refrigerator and freezer. They are hoping to have the power back on by tomorrow or Sunday.
We had rain last night and Wednesday night, too. The plants and crops really needed it. We missed the wind they had in Toledo and I am dry and cool working on the Civil war quilt.
Sorry to hear about Chris and Stacey, lordy there will be a lot who don't have access to generators, lucky they are able to have one...as I said, we've really done something to p#$s Mother Nature off this year.
You must post photo's of the Civil War quilt, your friend will be overwhelmed to get it.
Doing much the same, machine is embroidering while I do some housework..other than watering this morning I've not been outside.
Will hit me when I go to Midland this afternoon...now you all know where Midland is and what's in Midland...cooooollll
I want to go back to Midland....loved the view!
Still sad Betty, that I lost my chance to see my sistahs and Jonathan.
As I had said, the pics will compensate what I'd missed. Thanks for remembering the 'left behinds' in your armwraps.
Woa, Cookie!! Look at that derriere!!
Debbie, you can't move in Midland today..talk about crowded. Stopped at the lakefront here in town as I saw Cathy sitting enjoying the armrest market and music in the gazebo..didn't stay long, toooo hot!
Jaye, door is always open, you don't need a reunion to come visit!
LOL, do they glow in the dark? What I don't get a sign. :-(
You are there, must be on the side view, will take a photo...
Betty, I was only joking!!! Still curious about the models apparel...if it glows?
Nice............yes, indeed. Hey wait!! Look who took the picture...LOL. Cooke, we did to do a trip to Costa Rica together..talk about eye candy. I think it is the first requirement to be a guide.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH Why do Marion get an eye candy!!!
Kidding Cookie. I can't believe you thought of me.. hugs sistah.
Those flowers are so well painted! Betty, thank you for my permanent fixture in your lovely garden.
Soon have to put up a 2nd post!!
