Garden Gems 2012 #4
How do you get such wonderful close-ups of the birds?
The dragonfly is awesome!!!!!!!!
I like em all Jen!!!.. RD I set it up so they get used to me on the deck.. so I am only a few feet away if out there.. after a while they are not afraid any more and pay me no mind... or yell at me if I am in the way of the feeder or a flower they want.. and that's why I love to keep those containers on the deck rail.. keeps them close to me.. now that some of the agastache are blooming I will hopefully get some flower shots.. and my zoom is really good.. but if I stand still near my stairs.. and a hummer comes along .. I usually stay perfectly still and sometimes say hello .. real soft.. or whatever... after a while they don't fly off.. and just a foot from my shoulder... later on I will have conversations to try to get them at ease with me.. seems the younger ones are bolder than the older ones.. the one mature male.. can't get a photo of him.. he is gone the second he sees me
Nice, Allison. Love the birds. At first glance, I thought it said 'bedroom shots'!
ugly thought Victor
;)
Pretty Jen!
Those first coleus combos are great.
all I can say is wow Celest.
love that dark purple & blue Celeste!
good ahead rub it in - just tell me the names:)
Really lovely, Pixie.....and a toad lily already! Is your red rose 'Red Rambler'? Looks just like mine....Allison, it's wonderful that the hummers trust you like that.....
Thanks everyone! :)
Robin, rose is 'Burgundy Iceberg'
Bill, listed the names in the post where pictures are. :)

Gee, I can't tell....he may be an immature one....had a Cooper's last night chase a blue jay right into my hemlock.....the nesting family was agitated for about 10 min. Why can't he pick off some of the chippies & squirrels overtaking my yard? Here is my herb bed with salvia invocolurata Pink in with some tall dianthus, a noid lily, & my first crocosmia.......
woo hoo for the pretty blooms RD!!!.. between the fox & hawk... can't believe I am so overrun with tiny critters.. the hawk always seems to hit the other bird nests though
:(
Very nice!
Great pics, everyone! Looks like our gardens are all going gangbusters these days.
Ronnie, I looked up Lucia and Sophia in the Tinker's daylily database, and there are indeed daylilies with those names. Lucia is pink, and was registered in 1959, so it's an oldie. Sophia was registered in 1983, and it's a light apricot with wide orchid pink midribs and a deep apricot throat. I could not find pics of either one, nor anyone who has them for sale.
Victor, you are quite the accomplished photographer. Your pics are very artistic.
Karen
Thanks, Karen!
There's a 'Lucia May'

'Sophia Anne Burkey'

'Sophia Payne'

Yes, I saw those, but I didn't know what Ronnie's Lucia and Sophia's middle names were.
Karen
They sure would! Looks nice, Jen.
Karen
Great pix Victor.I always enjoy your interp. of a plant
I do as well Victor.. great shots!!.. looking good Jen!!!
Wow, Victor. Beautiful shots!
Nice Victor!
Looking very good Jen!
1) The house and gazebo....notice as you get close to the house how tall the grass gets? The entire area was like that after over a week of rain! My poor mowers were over worked!!!
2) Looking to the right from the gazebo....one of the the veggie gardens, trellis w/flower beds on either side, 3 apple tree's and thats Auntie's house. :)
3.) Turning to the right again, the shed, herb garden, flower garden, row of smaller apple tree's, Oak, and another flower bed.
4.) As far right as I can go...then it's the woodline that divides me from my neighbor. The gazebo is behind me, and if you look through the tree's, to the right of the oak you can just see the roof of the new house.
looks nice Celeste.. nice and lush now
What a great piece of property Celest.
We are picnicing today so I pixed early.
