Never tried them.
Garden pests #2
Old variety...have a tree of them in the yard, but I don't spray or prune, so only get a few that are edible....used primarily for cooking, but I love them because they are crunchy & sweet-tart.....
Hubby was stung approx. 20 times today. He went in our old boat to get out a tow rope and disturb a nest. We had no idea it was there. Scary...keeping an eye on him tonight...be careful folks!
Oh no! Hope Brian is okay.
oh crud.. hope Bri Bri is ok
Thanks guys, he's laying down now as he's very very sore. :( They stung him on the head, back, arms, legs, ass, bag, yes I just wrote that and I don't care.
OW!
Now THAT is no place to get stung...
I landscape for a living and getting stung from time to time is part of the game and for the most part I can shrug off most stings...however...
I got nailed by a white faced hornet in the upper lip last year. Did that hurt and the swelling was ridiculous...could barely talk and drinking something was impossible. Pain lasted a full 24 hours (slowly subsiding over that time, but still quite bothersome).
As a guy, I feel your husbands pain...well not literally, thank goodness...but still.
ooohhh nnnooo
I would be in the ER with my allergy.
Welcome to the forum, dosetaker! What drugs to you take? ^_^
lol...My online identity actually comes from the name of a band I used to play in years ago...I've never had any trouble using that username so it's kinda stuck with me through the years. Though to be perfectly honest, I'm a very strong supporter of responsible marijuana use. Still can't fathom how it's illegal but alcohol is not...
I was always very responsible - never inhaled. ;)
OUCH, poor Brian!!
Give him Benadryl, Celeste!
Oh I did Victor as soon as I got home. I had gone to town to pick up Justin's meds. He & my brother were working on the boats when it happened. He jumped in the shower as soon as he go in the house...he could feel it. We counted 51 stings on him. :(
This would of killed someone w/allergies or a smaller person.
Yikes! Did you get the stingers out? Yes - I would be in the ER, after a double dose of the Epi-Pen.
Yes, he had several imbedded! One on the back of his leather-red neck was hard to pull out. :)
Use a credit card?
Hemo's :) Brothers GF worked in the ER for along time.
Jeez Celeste I hope Brian is feeling a bit better. I can't even imagine the pain. Oh how horrible!!!! :(
one is horrible... all those.. just torture!!!
oh geez!!!!
Thanks everyone, im hoping he feels better today.
I put him in a cool tub last night with baking soda, another round of Benadryl and then to bed. He's still sleeping.
how does the bee keeper feel today celeste?
Sore and itchy!!! He's going mad with itching.

Hehehe, wha. Sorry, Brian is feeling all itchy and sore. I just can't imagine!!!!
OMG Pixie......cannot believe Brian was stung so many times.....you should probably still take him to doc's......remember a few months ago I was stung under the eye? I had to go 2 days later & get a shot....not good for Brian's heart with all that toxin in him!
I think that spider is one of the good guys
Did you at least call the doc?
That spider is wonderful...love finding these guys in the gardens.
I'm not at all afraid of spiders...I used to own, raise and breed exotic tarantula's for the pet trade so as to reduce the numbers being taken from the wild. At one point, I had over 600 adult tarantulas and countless babies living under my roof.
ok I don't want to visit with you anymore DT.. LOL
Hope Brian is better.. feel so bad for him
He's much better, thanks for asking. He's is just itching which the hospital said was a good sign as long as there are no infection and no rash.
Victor, I didn't use hemos...it was the dull/backside of a scalpel . Not sure why I said hemo's except I was a little shook up. :)
1st picture is the nest in the shed, 2nd is the one in the boat that Brian disturbed.
yikes
I hate hornets! Give me one reason that they are on earth......
along with slugs & mosquitoes!!!!
Yikes is right! I had a nest of bald-faced hornets a few years back. They are known to be very aggressive.
wasps and yellow jackets eat bad bugs
slugs because they eat decaying plants
mosquitos...well the only thing I can think of is they provide food for bats
slugs don't only eat decaying plants!!!.. they make them decay!!! ::: grumble::: stupid shade
sorry
