Garden Gems June 2012 #3
Wha, is it the same fungicide that I would use on the roses. Daconil or Copper sulfate?
Its too bad many house jobs cant be done when plants arent growing. I am having paths built and need to move plants.April I moved lilies because I didnt want clods cutting them in half. Its June and the contracter hasny showed inspite of 4 calls.
I have a new bid comming in next Wed.
roses you would have to go to a store that sells ortho, it is advertiesed as controlling many different fungus's. the reason i started using it was to control blight on t-plants. it's main ingredient is 27 or 29% of the solution and you mix a tablespoon of it with a gallon of water. I use a pump sprayer to apply.
I hear you, Jo. Just wish he had put up scaffolding instead of up and down, move the ladder, move, move...
Jen-- good grief.
I think that someone is interested in this Iris and maybe the price is right here:

Pixie was interested, but I don't know if it's hardy where she lives......my garage needs painting, but that's where my climbing roses are ....:>(
wow that's a lot of work Weeze... love the honeysuckle
You have your work cut out for you, Weeze! Love the honeysuckle.
Jo, thanks for the new thread. A shame about that no show on the contractor. Hate when they don't come through.
Bill, I will have to look up that fungicide if the one I just got doesn't work. I need to spray this weekend.
Karen
Beautiful pics, Weeze. They are all worth moving!
Karen, the Daconil is definitely working for me.
Beautiful pix Venu.
Thanks Karen.I am rethinking the job and have another scaper coming to give me another bid. If he can work with me I will kick the first scaper to the curb and lat least let him know he is canclled instead of leaving him dangling.
I love the shot of the Lilies and Hydrangea Weeze!
WOW Celest. Your pix are great.
Thanks Jo!
Wow Weeze!! Things are popping @ your house! LOOK @ that arbor!!!!!!!!!
Great pics everyone.
Have fun moving plants, weeze.
lots of great stuff there Celeste & Weeze!!!.. love that one Teri!!!
I remember how much you liked this area when you were here last, Allison
Wonderful photos! Loved the lilies with the hydrangea, Weeze....and the white clem.....Pixie, drooling over the wine colored sib....and love that blue on the delphs, Rose......
your whole place Teri!!!... btw your blushing susie did recover nicely.. thanks!!!
Love those delphs, Teri. I've tried them a few times without much success. I'll have to live vicariously through yours!
I don't find the delphs to be long lasting so I always have a seed tray going in the basement. I've decided to keep some shelves lighted all summer to give attention to only a few things that I really want. Right now I have lavender and more salvia patens going.
Celeste, love the pictures of your sibs. Do you have Regency Belle? It's one of Currier's older ones. Many years ago when we were returning from teaching at the MMA in Castine we stopped at Fieldstone Gardens and I was fortunate to meet him in person. What a lovely man. He truly loved what he was doing with irises.
Mittsy
Fieldstone Gardens in Vassalboro ME.? It's 12 - 15 minutes from me.:)
Haven't got R.Belle but it looks lovely, will check and see if they have next time I go.
How lovely, if I lived that close, I'd be there a couple of times a week just to photograph their irises. Many like Blue Snippet aren't listed in Plant Files. I'd love to replace some that I've lost over the years (Creme Chantilly) but postage costs are hard on fixed incomes. We celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary on June 1st. My DH took me to Borglums for the You Dig sale. Wow, what a wonderful gift!
I went to Borglum's last Aug. while visiting my niece in Pittsford......Dana dug iris for us, & gave us some beauties.....Dr. Currier's widow lives near me now, with her nephew & his wife....wife is in my art class.....I have only have 7 or 8 sibs, but am looking for a pure white one next.....
Thanks Jo & Mittsy....I wrote them both down.....
