2012 DG Sistah's Gathering at Betty's (Ontario, Canada)

Well everyone, we are now into first week of June and I can officially say we'll be hugging each other come end of month!!!
Too excited for words, so much so, am doing happy dance instead.

June 28,29,30,July 1st (Canada Day) and July 2nd

Just to recap:

Thursday: Day will be long as I anticipate the arrival of nearly all those who will be at the gathering..day of relaxation - Fire of Thanks and Remembrance late evening

Friday: Trip to Martyrs Shrine, Fort Ste. Marie, Midland Murals, lunch at Penetanguishene Town Dock (world renoun for hamburgers) then Discovery Harbour, Ontario's most picturesque heritage site and takes
guests back to 19th century. Visitors can chat with friendly interpreters aboard the magnificent replica
schooners H.M.S.. Tecumseth and H.M.S. Bee. The site also features beautiful boardwalks..

Spaghetti Dinner to follow at Betty's

For those with yet a bit of energy Hotel California Tribute Band ( 1/2 block from Betty's) to relax
and socialize

Saturday:

Betty's Treat - We are off to Georgian Bay which includes a 1 hour boat tour and Henry's Fish House on Frying Pan Island for an 'All you can eat' your choice of pan fry or battered fresh water fish. Following this, depending on weather forecast for Sunday we may stop at Big Chute to see the One of a kind Hydraulic Boat lift

If the forecast for Sunday is sunny (without winds) arrangements have been made for pontoon boat to the Big Chute vs. car ride to Big Chute on Saturday.

No Susan, will get Kyle to explain it to me..it's not hooking up to anyone, just like on facebook you have to accept an individual who is on skype then you are ready to go (or so I believe)

In you go, pick a bedroom and make yourself at home

Betty, Skype is easy to set up. Just go to www.skype.com, and download. Once it is done, just enter emails of those you wish to talk to, the program will send them an email request, and your done. Then when you open the program again, you can see who is online, just click on that name, and it will call them.

Cookie, m'dear - would you get some armwraps for me, too? I know, I know...... couldn't pass them on to me, cuz I'm on the Other Side Of The Continent! BUT, I'm trying to figure out Skype, and it seems Betty's not on it yet, and neither is my daughter ?!?! (that surprises me actually.......)

I have never tried to have a group skype, I don't know if you can or not.
Susan, check your email, I just sent you a skype request.
To add someone, go to the top left of the page and click on contacts, then click on add new. Another box will pop up, and you enter an email and name, then click send. it will send an email to that person asking them to join.

I did all that, LK - but it didn't do anything for about 5 min, then suddenly it came back with "this person not on Skype - send request to tell them about Skype" or something like that....... so I sent a "request" to Betty.
I haven't gotten your request yet, LK

I don't know how long it take to get the request?

Joyce, I have been thinking about that and it makes me cry even harder. I had been counting on this so much, going to pick up Jaye and heading to Canada. I guess this shows we shouldn't plan to far ahead as plans can and do change. Just plan on Florida for 2013.......tell Stacey, Janice and BJ for sure. Waaaa, I be so sad!!!

Unless fortunes change Very much, I sure won't be able to make FL in 2013 either...... ah well.....

I have such wonderful friens, Darlene called earlier, her dad has a road trek travel trailer, makes up into 2 singles or a full double..has awning ..he will set it up incase I need it..then Greg will set my camper incase someone can make it at last minute then a bed Is ready!

It will look like a trailer on side lawn. Lol

Bought my little unit and havent gone an inch, might as well use it on the lawn

LK, are you going to make it to Betty's? Sure hope so...can't believe I was in Texas and didn't get to see you! You were here in spirit two years ago and I have the rocks to prove it! So sorry that Jaye and Marion won't make it, as they are both full of such love and fun. We'll have to have twice or thrice as much fun for them....and I'll have to take care of all the eye candy all by myself. :o(

There were 4 tornadoes in the Calgary area last night - one in NW Calgary (I live in NE, so was safe from them), and the Thunderstorms were loud and bright, but the RAIN was something awful!! It leaked a bit above our furnace (we don't have a basement, so it's on the main, and only, floor). We also had a leak in a doorway in the middle of our home. Bob's going to have to get up on the roof and figure out where it's leaking........
BUT we don't have it Near as bad as some of our neighbours......... One (Kay) has actual holes in her roof, but she asked Bob to fix it at the end of June because she doesn't have the funds until then. I have to call her at work to see how she fared - she's the Church secretary. I'll wait until 10am to call another friend (Margaret) who Bob is going to work on leaks for - he had to do some other work for Kay before he could do Margaret's - she asked for him to do her leaks before mid-June...........cuz that's when the rains usually hit, but we had Torrential rain last night/this morning......

Sorry to hear Susan about damage but thrilled that no other mishaps happened. Was to rain all day but sunshine right now..just got back from hospital so will go play outside for a bit seeing I still have all afternoon to myself..did say I might need to sleep after taking meds so I'll warn the neighbors to look in a corner to see if I've found a corner to lay in..lol

We will indeed keep those who cannot come close to our hearts and will post throughout or make them part Df the visit!

I wish I could go to Betty's, but my knee and hip are giving me fits, and I have to see my ortho Dr, on the 22nd to see what can be done. Plus the cost of the trip is out of my price range right now.

OK, was at the hospital this a.m. - got strong meds, told to just rest today that likely I would be sleepy but I think it worked the opposite..

Cathy dropped in, one of her first outings, has to watch herself re blood clots, was saying that I had found when cleaning the back shed new attachments for the pump to create a different water stream..before you knew it, guess who was in the pond..center is about 4 1/2 ft. so had to watch I didn't slip and fall in

Someone had to do it..lol

Telling gardens to stop blooming because I've either spring flowers OR late summer
