2012 DG Sistah's Gathering at Betty's (Ontario, Canada)

Lyndonville, NY

It will keep you out of trouble...for a short while.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That it did, so rather than cleaning the craft room, we made a bigger mess so you will have to put blinders on down there.. I'm the best MIL in the world today, Melanie even took my car to Barrie as it is cheaper on gas than hers..earned brownie ponts for that.

We got the footstool pad, side chair pad and settee pad down, shouldn't have worked so hard, she decided to go to Barrie to buy matching fabric for cushions..showed her how to make an easy/easy pillow concerning, one you can remove to wash, then she made one..she said she would try to do other pillows herself!

Thank goodness I had saved some of the spaghetti sauce for a meal tonight as Ann stayed, Melanie decided she didnt like what Greg cooked so she ate with us. then off she went to check on things at home. But said I'll be back in a bit, want to finish the other 4 cushions and I'd feel more comfortable knowing you are there to ask questions..lol

So did not do any of the things I had planned except for spaghetti sauce, shaking my head..

Best I clean the kitchen as she will be back shortly!

Heavy duty rain, we needed it but lordy, wanted to shed a tear at all the flowers now kissing the ground!

I'm so looking forward to some of that spaghetti sauce! Don't give it all away! Now I feel bad for bringing my Nana quilt with me. You should be out of the craft room and enjoying us, not in there doing something for me.....hmmmmm....well, we'll see.

DS and family came and we had marinated london broil on the grill. Macaroni salad, Quinoa salad (DIL is on a gluten free diet) and fruit salad. For those of us eating sugar (all but DIL) we had pumpkin pie and cool whip. I forgot to bake the rolls, but we didn't need them anyway!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

We got 1/4 inch today. Surely could have used about 2 inches more than that. But guess I wasn't holding my mouth right. Dang

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

lol Cookie - that's exactly what my mom used to say "you can do anything, IF you hold your mouth right!!" lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'll send this rain your way Joyce..

My DIL Melanie is on glutten free diet, seems to me she pays the price more often than not for eating regular meals. When I was at foodland yesterday a man bought 8 cupcakes, glutten free, $16.98 imagine..they have an entire freezer section and grocery section for shoppers who are afflicted.

Don't feel badly, am sure between all of us we can get the names put on the quilt.

Had supper at Ann's..she sent me home care package, strawberry shortcake fixings and topping..was thinking of having another before going to bed but think I'll pass.

Glad you all enjoyed the day..lucky to have your dad with you.
My dad passed on going on 6 years and Roger gone 21 this coming New Years..celebrations still bring a tear. I was at the cemetery at 5:30 this morning cleaning up, putting floral arrangement I made on his tombstone...still feels odd seeing my name and birthdate on it, guess the good thing is there is still a date left to be engraved..lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I posted about Carol/FancyVan on the "Summer" thread.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - you can have MY tin roof........ lol

Actually, re: sayings.......... guess my mom Still says that, just haven't heard her say it for awhile lol
Like her grandmother saying (when told the family had Amish background - ie: Pennsylvania Dutch) "That's just a fancy way of saying GERMAN!" lol

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep... 8 more wake ups, and we're on a plane... YIPPEE... hugs and arm wraps... can't wait.

With the storm passing through last night these tickseeds lay on the ground, not even sure sunshine can stand them up

Betty, don't you know green is one of our favorite colors????? Ask any gardener! ^_^

Victoria Harbour, ON

Love that dragonfly Betty!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

How are you going to "rust" it - put it in the pond? lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

It will rust onits own, usually within a few weeks..meant to add a second photo but must have clicked on same photo twice,,

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Betty, why were you up and posting at 3:21 am? And what are those pretty white/pink flowers?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was counting sheep Joyce, go through periods of time I just can't sleep through an entire night.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I used to be like that until I started taking melatonin. It works like a charm for me. What about those flowers?????

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - how are you this am? You're either busy, or intent on something, or not feeling well/tired. You're not your usual chatty self.........

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm fine, just making list of things I want to get done the next 3 days..

My car soooo needs a cleaning, didn't clean it for myself but seeing as it's being turned in and I'm coming home with a new one I should spend time doing it.

Making arrangements for the motor trek van that has 2 beds to be delivered to the house for next weekend

Grocery list

just pre-occupied with making sure all is in order so I can sit and enjoy along with everyone else..lol

As well, took some cough medicine this morning and NOW I feel like sleeping

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You still have that cough Betty?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

enjoy your sleepy-byes Betty! I "think" the less your cough gets, the more the narcotic makes you sleepy, but then..... I'm not a Dr, so what do I know?!?!?! I hope you're keeping quiet enough that the cough isn't 'rearing it's ugly head'. That's one of the main things - rushing around gets your throat stressed and you end up with a rash of coughing fits.

Victoria Harbour, ON

The cough has is the same, the narcotics given just mask the cough, don't cough when on them but I DO NOT want to continue taking it and will not do so once the reunion has passed. The meds I can take every 4 hours but because I spoke with the pharmacist and he said they are not curing the cough, just helping me NOT cough I've been only taking it twice a day..tried doing it once a day but end up coughing during the night so back on to morning and night..vicious circle..makes me tired, think it's why I'm dizzy here and there

that aside I'm A-ok lol

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Had my first physical therapy session yesterday. I am hoping to get a little more flexibility in the legs since I can't take anything for the pain in the knees and no surgery until I am off the warffrin. Jonathan and I always pick up the rear when we walk any place. Not walking far, either.
What are the temperatures likely to be in Canada? Lower than ours but how much. Hard to plan on clothes to bring. Cooler still over the water.
The motel we are staying at has a pool in case anyone wants a dip so bring your suit. See you all soon,

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nobody is in a hurry Janice, likely I'll be at the rear as well and we'll make it a trio..sorry to hear you have to face each day in pain..they say laughing is good for our health,so bet it helps come Thursday

I'll post the temps next Wednesday..I would think our temps are much like yours unless a cold front was to move in. The forecast says the high humidity is to break today or tomorrow, thank goodness.

Greg (son) told me we can use his pool and hot tub as well..thanks for the offer!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

So, everyone is to pack their bathing suits......... I want pics! And......... bring a water-proof laptop and I'll join you lol

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I can hardly stand the wait! Geesh! We had a cold front move through and it's almost chilly out there this morning. Going to take the opportunity to pull some weeds that are usually in the blazing hot sun!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Last days are the hardest to get through, the anticipation of it all..

Perfect day out there, no humidity, not high temps, low 70's, nice breeze..spend early a.m. Deadheading hanging baskets, either I or Mother Nature drowned 2 ..think it's me and not Mother Nature.

Telephones are busy this morning, working from home..that means I have to sit close to the telephone cut can play a bit...if lawnmowers were not so loud I could get ahead of the game and cut my grass

Good luck with the weeds Joyce, you'll be an experienced weeder by the time you get here!! Lol

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

It's getting close to that GREAT HUGGING and Laughs, and tears, MOMENT starting with Judy and Steve!!
Praying here that your weather will co-operate, Betty, and you will get rid of that cold forever.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

You must remember last year I couldn't get to the weeds because of my broken leg, so my weeds have weeds. I'm waaaaayyyyy experienced in weed pulling this year!

I'll collect some hugs for you, too, Jaye!

Lyndonville, NY

If it flowers....it is no longer a weed. It is a Fleed....so it doesn't count.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thank you Cookie!
