What kind of music do you like

Cape May Court House, NJ(Zone 7a)

Any jackson brown fans out there? sue

Or maybe 2live crew? How about the artist formally known as prince?

Muncie, IN(Zone 5B)

Boy, it sure is lonely out here!! I am a lover of jazz, especially John Coltrane, Miles Davis (before and after electric), Dave Brubeck, MJQ. If not jazz, then classical is next, specifically Mozart and Chopin followed by South American jazz, folk-rockers from the 60's and last, but certainly not least, Patsy Cline.

kelly333, I just saw Hall and Oats a few months ago in Atlantic City. They still look and sound great.

Lilith, there are so many prince songs that I like but I heard one today that I haven't heard in a long time Raspberry Barret? I forgot how much I liked it!!!! sue

Kelly333
Did Peter Frampton not have the most amazing head of hair..........
Opps I was having a flashback.

Spring Hill, FL(Zone 9a)

Different stuff for different times. Most fun I ever had at a concert was a 60's Harry Belafonte performance in The City. He did the audience participation thing with "Matilda". I listen to "oldies" on spinner or rolling stone radio when I'm playing on the PC...like now.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Mike, I can't thank you enough. I have always had a hearing loss that prevents me from understanding many (okay, most) of the words of songs. I loved reading the "rest of" Starry Starry Night, since I often sing only three words when I step outside on one of those. And Patrick, you can forget about lonesome, those are some of my favorites. I could go on and on about the charms of vinyl, since I have very few CDs, and they would often be in those groups. Progressive Jazz, Stan Kenton, Peggy Lee, Chris Conner, Four Freshmen, Limeliters, Earl Grant, Happy Jazz Band, oops, New Orleans Jazz, then Ray Price, Don Gibson, Jim Reeves, Bobby Darin, Brook Benton, Jo Stafford, Julie London, Sarah Vaughn, Dinah Washington...Hard to stop, but I draw the line at rap and anything that sounds like angry ranting. I did listen to Gree Beret and things like that in their time. Marty Robbins, Roger Miller, Faron Young, Conway Twitty, Margie Bowes, somebody save me from myself, my turntable is broken.

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 5a)

I'm with flowox except for the old jazz.:)

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

sargent barry sadler-I listen to my album when im putzin in the basement!

Camilla, GA(Zone 8a)

As long as it's not rap or heavy metal.. If I had to choose only one, I'm die-hard country..But I also listen to golden oldies, showtunes, classical and all in between.
Larkie

Circleville, OH(Zone 8b)

I do listen to a alot of country as well but i am partial to the 60's and 70's music, alot of the music today doesn't compare to the early years.

Rap can't even hear the words so i can't enjoy it and the violence and hate that I have seen in the lyrics I wouldn't listen to it anyways.

Same for heavy metal can't get into screeh music sorry METAL fans.

Kelly 333 i could go on and on about different groups as well, I have LP's, cassettes, and CD's so my music library is very large.

I hate to get rid of my LP's as so of the music is out of print and can't be found.

I was even a Musk Rat love and You got me Babe fan, some of you know who I am talking about.

Mike

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Ooh, Cher was great, You got me Babe, and Muskrat Love was so-so. If Loving You Was Wrong was good about that time, and I guess BJ Thomas was then. I agree, the old music was really music. And swing rocks! Big band, Bessie Smith blues. Mike, if you do decide to get rid of your vinyl, I will be happy to take them off your hands. Ever think you just must hear Dave Mason? Helping a friend clean out a rental unit, I lucked into some reel to reels many years ago, the previous tenant having been a dj, and some of the greatest stuff from the 60s and 70s was there. The player needs work now, but it sure entertained the kids and me when they were teens.

Circleville, OH(Zone 8b)

Boy i wouldn't think of get rid of my LP's, I still have my first turntable I got as a kid and still use it from time to time.

My Loggins and Masina,Moody Blues,Three Dog Night,Tijuna Brass, and so many others are on my LP's.

I would be lost with out them. Get back you can't have them their mine , all mine, no I won't share.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Meanie! But I wouldn't part with one of mine. Is your turntable direct drive? The ones I had with belts are defunct, and I haven't found a good source for belts, etc. My direct drive is great, but the tone arm fell apart several years ago, and the only person I trusted to work on it moved away. Sort of like my old O'Keefe and Merrit stove. I guess you could say I resist change.

Circleville, OH(Zone 8b)

Well I don't mind change, but don't touch, mine mine mine.

Mine is belt drive as well and I baby mine. Not sure where to get new neddles though.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

I like almost all but not heavy metal.. or rap none like which has volience, sex or drugs or anti-christ or rebellion stuff like that which god hate this very much.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 5b)

I went to my first concert when I was 14. Steppinwolf & Edwin Starr. I grew up listening to the Doors and Jimi Hendrix. Can you imagine how much fun it was for me to drive my son to his hockey games when he would listen to Jimi Hendrix to "get his head ready for the game"? My son is 27 years younger than I and he discovered the Doors, Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn on his own. He never misses B.B. King or Buddy Guy or Dick Dale when they come to town. Did I mention that he taught himself to play jazz guitar? I still love to listen to this music but I listen to a lot of country too.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Classical music, songs from old (only old, not recent- because they are more noisy and meaningless) Hindi and Kannada films. No taste for western music of any sort.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Well fellow music lovers here it goes...anything from Motown. Marvin Gaye was the love of my life and if he recorded it, I own it even his book called Divided Soul, Otis Redding,Cher still love her to death, she is a woman after my own heart. The Doors, Patsy Cline,Loretta Lynn. My old Bucket loves heavy meatal, and I love anything that has to do with love. Let's not forget the Great Barry White, my God that man's voice just sends me. Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, Tommy Roe. The only rap record that I liked was M C Hammer's you can't touch this, "my my music is so hard makes me say oh my lord thank you for blessing me with two big feet and a mind to rap and keep this beat...you can't touch this" The love songs that would always get me in trouble because I thought the guy I was dating reall meant everything that the song was saying...got my heart ripped out a lot lol. Has anyone heard the song Blue Velvet played by Jean Almonds, he plays sacs and it puts goose bumps on me evey time I play it. I can't listen to Christian music it makes me cry, I think of my mother and son.

JustmeLisa.....I loved that song, Amy too!!!

Gwydion, Loved Frampton's hair back then. He was a bit thin for my taste...but the guy could sing and play that GUITAR like nobody's business. Dont forget that weird device he had to change his voice on Do You Feellll Like We Do??? AWESOME.
