What kind of music do you like

Allen Park, MI(Zone 6a)

What kind of music to you like to listen to?

Myself I love classic country. George Jones. Tammy Wynette, Merele Hagggard, Jack Greene and the like.

How about you.

Paul

Pittsburgh, PA(Zone 6a)

Contemporary Christian, gospel, and classical.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Depends on the day, the week, the month. And my mood. Most days I'm a "classic rock" listener (Skynard lives!!!!) although I'll also cross-over to pop sometimes. Also occasionally like country, and I really like the sound track to "O Brother Where Art Thou?" which is - for lack of a better term - hillbilly/Grand Ole Opry-style pure twang :)

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Odd Man out again, Classical and then Springsteen all the way, went to his opening w/e-street band in Barcelona and that was our 6th. springsteen concert.
Add Neil Diamond, and Bob Dylan
Man, I am weird
There is always Chopin and Rachmaninoff and the Three Tenors!

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

As long as it's not rap or that heavy metal stuff that no one can understand anyway, it's fine with me. I listen to everything from Madonna to Faith Hill to Mozart

markleysburg, PA(Zone 5a)

Irish music=classical and the old hymns

Auburn, NY(Zone 5b)

Springsteen, Phil Collins, Rod Stewart, etc. I agree, no rap!

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

I LOVE ROCK & ROLL, the "real" oldies, I'm talkin 50's!!! I was in college in Stockton, Ca in 1955 & '56, that's where they filmed American Graffiti, and that's just the way it was - crusing the main drag with louvered and chopped hot rods. What fun! I also like Bluegrass,Mo-town and now I am starting to appreciate Barbershop. My DH is in a Bbershop chorus and quartet. Nothing like good music to stir the soul.

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

parrot head here...love Jimmy Buffett! I also like many of the new Christian rock bands like Third Day. Love Steve Curtis Chapman too.
*forgot about N'awleans very own Neville Brothers!

Almost all kinds! (No opera) Got up this morning to hip hop, drove to work with classical, listened to oldies from the 40's, 50's and 60's at work, played mystic moods envirmental sounds to classical music on the way home and have Sons of the Pioneers playing now and the next CD up should be Raggae followed by Tony Orlando and Dawn, Barbara Striesand and the Hoosier Hotshots. Guess you might say my tastes are a bit eclectic cause tommorrow I will probably listen to totally different types of sounds. One of my current favorites are the Celtic sounds and African chants.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I'm pretty eclectic when it comes to tunes, too. I love sweet band and big band music, especially Doris Day, Bing, Mel Torme, Glenn Miller, and Ella Fitzgerald. Shoot, many others. Carly Simon's "My Romance" has some great covers of vocal classics. I also like a lot of Christian musicians like Phil Keaggy, Randy Stonehill, Kim Hill, and Matthew Ward. And I love classical, especially the baroque composers like Bach and Vivaldi. Oh, and the composer no one could ever find....Because he was always Haydn. ;o) I even like *some* rap, but not the crude stuff - I like DC Talk because they can actually *sing*. Give me vocals with tight harmonies or give me death!

Longview, TX

For you America lovers out there...I saw them in concert...na na na na na...lets see...Im also a Springsteen fan. I prefer stuff like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Eddie Money, Third Day, Stephen Curtis Chapman, Tom Petty, Rachael Lampa, Margaret Becker, ZZ Top, Billy Squires, Fleetwood Mac, Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Heart, David Sanborn, Kenny G, all the way to Joe Cocker...haha. In other words, Rock, Blues, Contemporary Christian, Pop, Classical, Jazz, Soul, R & B...Im not into opera a bit, country and rap arent my deal either. The music out today is great...like Train, Creed, Lifehouse. The music I can't stand is like Eminem.

Its probably easier to list what I don't like LOL. I can't be doing with rap, country and most dance/trance stuff. I especially like old style jazz and blues, big band, classic rock, classical music and some folk music.

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

I'm a folk-rock fan, and Celtic, the East Coast Canadians - the only CD I own is Natalie McMaster's In My Hands. Northeastern down home fiddlin', bluegrass, rock, classical.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Classical, Celtic/Irish, Contemporary Christian and Southern Gospel. I also like Opera. Can't stand Bluegrass, Country, Jazz or Rap.

Agawam, MA

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

oooo how 'bout Cat Stevens anyone? he was so good.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Lisa, you and I are soul-mates. Love Cat Stevens, always have. Third Day is tied with another group for my favs, they're from Atlanta, and it's so good to finally see them make it big. I have seen them about 6 times. My other favorite is Skillet, industrial rock Christian band. Do not miss a Ga concert, even though I'm in the room with a bunch of teens. When I'm down, I turn the music up really loud, and forget how old I am:)
Listen to contemporary Christian exclusively now, with some of the wilder stuff thrown in:)

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Okay a couple more for the record, since we're now talking specific artists: James Taylor (still is awesome even if he can't hit the high notes like he did in his younger day), and the Coles - Nat King and his daughter. Harry Connick, Jr. is pretty fab, too - love his Christmas CD.

And speaking of Christmas CDs, my alltime favorite is the Charlie Brown Christmas CD. If you've never heard it, you're missing out!!!

Circleville, OH(Zone 8b)

Well I've been to that desert with the horse with no mane on the way to oz with the tin man. But oz never gave the tin man nothing he didn't alredy have.

How about ELO, Big river band, and one of all favs Don Mclean

Starry, starry night:
Paint your palette blue and gray.
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul.
Shadows on the hills.
Sketch the trees and the daffodils;
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land.

Now I understand
What you tried to say to me,
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen; they did not know how.
Perhaps they'll listen now.

Starry, starry night:
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze;
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue.
Colors changing hue:
Morning fields of amber grain,
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand.

Now I understand
What you tried to say to me,
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen; they did not know how.
Perhaps they'll listen now.

For they could not love you
But still, your love was true.
And when no hope was left inside
On that starry, starry night
You took your life as lovers often do.
But I could've told you, Vincent:
This world was never meant
For one as beautiful as you.

Starry, starry night:
Portraits hung in empty halls:
Frameless heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget;
Like the strangers that you've met:
The ragged men in ragged clothes.
The silver thorn, a bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow.

Now I think I know
What you tried to say to me,
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen; they're not listening still.
Perhaps they never will.
