This is part of my lily mishmash. They were all in zip lock bags in my minifridge all winter (68 of them!) and by the time I got to them many of them had sprouted. So I basically threw them into the ground, and they tend to lean so I have to support the, which I don't mind. I have asiatics that are still in bus, but here is Silver Sunburst, August Ruby and Red Alert with nepeta Dawn to Dusk and an allium christophii gone to seed. I will probably do some digging up and moving, but its great to see them, although it is very difficult to photograph them.

The tall lily in the rear is Silk Road.

And in the back yard, blooming in shade, is Regale. But I have asiatics that are only in bud. Wild!

Ge, I still love your smileboxes.
Dlefferts, those are beautiful in every way. You really have been busy!

Quite frankly, you all have beautiful Asiatics, even when there are but a few varieties.

This has been a tough lily season due to the red lily beetle and the requirement to spray. So far everything has been lovely. I was astonished to find an oriental lily in June. These lilies should be blooming late July or early August. It is definitely not the best specimen of Star Gazer rubrum, but there is not doubt about its scent.

While not true lilium, the callas in the second picture have been magnificent. I never expected such large gorgeous "blooms" with such pretty foliage. It is one of the few containers not destroyed by chipmunks.

We have been plagued by chipmunks for some awful reason, and they are impossible to eradicate. They seem to go after bulbs and corms as well as small plants.

Cathy, can you get your hands on some Milorganite? Sprinkle it, just a bit, around your lilies. Chipmunks hate it, and will leave your lilies alone. This also works for lilies in pots.

Stamford, CT(Zone 6b)

Donna, I'm sure I can. Thanks. I will get it tomorrow. I think our entire city is overcome with chipmunks.

Elgin, IL(Zone 5a)

It truly does work. If you were nearby I'd just run over with a cup! It's also a good mild fertilizer. Don'e stick your head in the bag, because it stinks! It liberated my pots, like freshly ground black pepper liberated me from squirrels, and daffodils freed me from rabbits and voles.

It is a real joy to go into your garden and find everything there.

I agree about the orientals. The deer ate the Casablancas but BlackMagics look ready to pop.along with Altaries.

ge1836, Your smilebox always, makes me smile. Thanks

GE, smiling at your smilebox again.

I spread milorganite out yesterday in a lot of areas. This morning I opened the front door and found a chipmunk on my steps. I'll be spreading out more. I think it is a 30-lb. bag.

Elgin, IL(Zone 5a)

You don't need a lot in any one place.

On your steps is fine. Digging up your plants is not!

That Star Gazer is beautiful, Leawood.

Does anyone else in the northeast have early Orientals blooming? I though mid-July was early, but this is something else!

They are lovely. All my lilies have long ago bloomed from the crazy weather, except for one that will be finished blooming this week.
I hope you'll post more.

From the angle J, Scherazade must be huge tall. All lovely. I only have Garden Treasure of the larger lilies and lots of the smaller ones.

Thanks Oberon so nice to see lilies now that ours are nearly gone.

Those are some beautiful blooms, and I love how delicate Iona appears. It's nice to see the lily blooms at this time of year, the lilies here finished blooming weeks ago.
