DH is O too, universal donor they call him. :)
Coffee Break # 79
I will be particularly attentive with my prayers on Thursday for Adam!
Continued prayers for Adam here too.
I had the best day today, I got to really hold Leah for the very first time today. I can start holding and feeding her a bottle (unless Lindsey is there to feed her) as long as Lindsey gives her ok to the hospital. It was amazing. And once she takes all feeds by mouth x 24 hours, they'll pull the NG tube.
Great to hear, Deb!
Sorry I did not start donating until last year. Was never afraid or anything - just never did. Duh.
Debi, isn't that the greatest? I looked at my 3 last night & they still blow me away...very loving kids....
Oh, Debi, that is such great news!!!
Something ate the top 12" or so off my clematis(Ice Blue) I planted last year....... grrrrrrrrr...... I am really ticked!!!!!!!!!!
They couldn't find veins after a long and arduous search, and so they just went into the top of my hand.
Took only 30 seconds.
Ouch!
Can't give my blood it's tainted with too much iron. I pass out anyway :(
Deb great news♥ Yes it is the best feeling!
Yay Deb!!! Such good news, im sure Leah will love having you feed her when Mommy is not available. :)
Happy to hear the great news about Leah, and will send many prayers for Adam for a successful surgery on Thursday. Hope you all have a lovely day. Like Victor I am going to work outside today in the driveway island where they removed the two huge old maples. It looks very empty now and needs lots of attention.
that is great debi
DB, I am sure you will give it your undivided attention. Hope it appreciates your work. Heehee
Speaking of being ticked. Be vigilant in checking yourselves. I found one on Saturday already embedded. This one was a lone star tick upon investigation. Then on Sunday a teensy one that hadn't embedded yet.
ewwww I hate ticks! lady stopped by our house while she was walking and told us to be careful with the kids, she contracted Lyme's disease
I do too. I just felt creepy crawly all day.
I know, it's too late now as the PI has erupted on my arm, but for future reference- what is the soap you use after being exposed ?
Not a soap - a lotion. Tecnu. Also works if you already have the rash. Helps speed up the recovery.
Tecnu Scrub, spray or lotion. :)

Back from the store and Technu applied.

thanks to Victor Randy used that Technu.. said it helped right away... believe it or not I actually sprayed myself for the ticks before heading out yesterday.. they totally freak me out too
I'm always finding ticks, even after spraying.....just used Tecnu because I yanked out some poison ivy that I first thought was Virginia creeper....
Yeah - I use the heavy-duty DEET when hiking and still get them. The sprays just don't work well.
Hired a guy to move some heavy stones to be the foundation of a retaining wall around half of the island so Hank can build up the stone retaining wall to hold the garden loam the guy will berm behind the wall. Then the fun part begins for me! :)
Bill and Victor - got any suggestions for a nice orangish tone JM hardy in zone 4?
Love Orangeola, Louise, but only rated to z5.
Great news on baby Leah!
Continuing to send good thoughts and prayers for baby Adam. Poor guy has had it rough. He needs a break.
Karen
That was an interesting article, Victor.
DB, yay for a new project!
Yet another reason why I'm not a world traveler
Louise i sent you a d-mail - there will be nothing rated for a z4 unless you choose a korean maple. You can find some jm's rated for -20 if that would work.
Yes, there are many countries crossed off my list for health reasons.
Thanks a lot, bill and Victor. I think the -20 would be ok.
Yes, Jan - it will be a fun project for sure! We're saving the group of antique roses that have been there since the 1800's, and we got old whiskey barrels to go on each stump for some summer annuals. The work will be done on May 19th and then I will rest up well for a few days before and then play like mad! :)
Woohoo!!
Saw some folks this weekend who have a plac e on North Haven Island, Maine. They said they will be heading up there in 2 weeks to put in their garden. Very nice couple. They had to leave the get-together to go help band birds. I think Jeff and I will add them to the list of places to visit in 2015 (if they will have us heehee).
Sounds like a fun project, Louise! Photos when finished, please......
Will do, Marilyn. Seeing it in person is always even better! :)
Yes, it is! Headed to NH on Memorial Day weekend, but I'm going up Route 7, since I have to drop Suey off at the kennel on that side of the state......
We'll work on it! :)
Sounds like a plan....
My older guy today visited the upper middle school he will be attending next year. It is literally across the street, yet they took the bus! How ludicrous.
oh geez
Also, local paper published all the administrator salaries today. Our superintendent makes about $250K in salary, benefits and 'other', whatever that is. Three other deputies are not far behind. Middle school principals make 155-164K.
