He must have been a very stable person. Those are the marriages that last.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Or he was deaf.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

pffffft.
There are some good marriages in the entertainment business.
Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon,Amy Maddigan and Ed Harris to name 2, or who knows,I am not a follower of the tabloids.
I just remembered another one.Mark Harmon and Pam Dawber 27 years.

Me too!! Doesn't happen to much in Hollywood that's for sure!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

My kids asked me why we were not getting out of the car the other day when we went to the store. I had to hear the whole song!!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thats how kids learn that some things are more important than others.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

what song was it?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Forgot! But I do that all the time. I want them to learn Bohemian Rhapsody so I can video all of us singing it in the car.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thats a great one.Queen right?

How about David Bowie ?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, Queen. I like Bowie too!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

What was the Bowie song about "the planet earth is blue" "can you hear us Mister Tom?"
It was the alst album I liked.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ground control to Major Tom...

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Singer Tony Martin died. Was 98!! Lucky enough to be married to Cyd Charisse.

East Bridgewater, MA

Cyd Charisse was tall for a dancer, and was forced by producers/directors/leading men to wear flats (shoes that were not high heels), in order to look height-appropriate.

As many people know, this is not an elegant look, and she was annoyed by it (but probably more comfortable).

Especially with Fred Astaire, if memory is correct.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

don't worry JoAnn.. Randy makes up his own words to songs.. LOL.. Mister Tom it is!!!

;)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, she was very tall. I think Gene Kelly had her wear flats too.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Ahhhhhh the men!! never wanted to look short.
Not in the dancing catagory but Humphry Bogart was not as tall as Lauren Bacall and I heard
Allan Ladd had to stand on a box to kiss a girl.
Real women dont bother about those issues now days.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Men do seem to be getting shorter in this country

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Really???

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

size doeant matter.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

"Interestingly in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, Europeans in North America were far taller than those in Europe and were the tallest in the world. The original indigenous population of the Plains Native Americans was also among the tallest populations of the world at the time. Several nations, including many nations in Europe, have now surpassed the US, particularly the Netherlands, and Scandinavian nations. "

Info from Disabled World

the men's average is now 5'10" and I think not too long ago it was 6'...I need to find that info, read it somewhere

I never dated anyone shorter than 5'10" I find short guys particularly annoying

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Avg height was never 6'.

(Didn't mean to *annoy* you with that link, Jen. ^_^ )

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

stats from cdc in 1 article in men's health

"Most of the average height gains came during the 1960s and 1970s. In fact, men in their 40s were slightly taller than men in their 30s and 20s in 2002"

If 40 year olds were TALLER than men in their 20's or 30's in 2002, that means the older generations was taller

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Hee hee...are you 5'9"???

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not even - 5' 7" on a tall day.

Look at the breakdown of male height in that article. Contradicts what you posted. Teens were shorter in the 60's.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

So who do you believe? all the stats contradict each other

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I believe I am really 6' 5".

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

LOL

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

hehehe... yeah me too!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Saw Jurassic Park for the first time last night. So-so. Again, I was expecting more.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Special effects are what brings people into moveis these days I guess.

East Bridgewater, MA

My comment to my (late) father, so many years ago, when we watched that film simultaneously on HBO in separate locations:

"I was underwhelmed."

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

you totally needed to see JP in the theater when it came out. No one had seen effects like that before. Seeing it after that doesn't totally work. Except as a warning when they talk about cloning dinos :P

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Anyone else using Pandora for music? I really like it.
