Coffee Break #76

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

How time passes. 5 years ago I was a Girl Scout leader/"advisor". We had a seedling pine that we planted and dedicated in the town nursery in anticipation of the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting. Back then people in the town tree committee said they wanted to have a ceremony when they move it to it's final home planned for this year. Unlike the cookies, I hope the tree got bigger.

Victor, wishing the best for your MIL.

Jan, congrats to your son's family for the expected baby #4!

Jan, has your 14-year-old grandson been running around barefoot in the woods lately? He should, and you can invite some Bigfoot hunters up for an investigation! He sounds like a great kid. I love kids with special needs.

Do you know those hummers take a trip across the Gulf of Mexico to get here? A very long journey with no food or water. They have the longest migration of any bird. They winter way down in Panama. They're simply amazing.

Victor, I can't imagine anyone having 15 kids. I have an uncle who is married to a woman who comes from a family of 11 kids.

Charlie is one messy kid there, Celeste!

I've read about those bottle bombs before, Sherrie. Awful! I wonder if there have been any recent incidents with those. That was back in 2010.

Haven't bought any GS cookies this year. A friend loves the GS Samoa ice cream.

SIL buys GS cookies. They ARE smaller and the boxes shrunk too. Prices are the same. I just give a donation and dont feel cheated that way.
Samoahs are smaller definatly and the traditional Shortbread cookie used to need biteing in half before I could dunk it in my 4 oz glass. It fits swell now with room to spare. My guess is the cookies re half their originl size.

Daffodils are starting to bloom in the front yard but all of them are about 1/2 as tall as they have been in previous years.

Wow - have my house 16 years today. Cannot believe it. Started with no intention whatsoever to get into gardening other than some tomatoes and basil. We know where that went. ^_^

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Good thing you like plants Victor.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

We're glad it went that way, Victor. You, like everyone here is an inspiration.

Thomaston, CT

Gardening is therapy....and something in me is just driven to get into the garden...even when I was on crutches, I was sitting on the stone walls weeding....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks.

MIL in hospital again. Same symptoms. Turns out to be a very bad infection. White count is 20,000! Will need IV antibiotics for a long time. Seems she is on a downhill slide health wise in so many ways.
