This year I ought to have enough of the plants that interest the hummingbirds. Is there an easy reference to know when in the season to put out the nectar? Do the maps mean anything?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

every year I find the maps wrong.. they say they are here.. but I don't see them for a month later.. I put my feeders out when the azaleas bloom.. even though they are not here yet

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

My HB's are dwindling. I only had 3 but last summer I only saw one and it never came to the feeder. Just flowers.

Hahaha, Bigfoot... He definitely qualifies for that. Heehee. Last I knew he was 6'3", but, that was a few months ago. Lol. He is their adopted son and has something called Weavers syndrome, which is a growth thing. It will be interesting to see how tall he grows. My son is 6'5" so he fits right in to our family.

Now I need to go back and look at the videos posted yesterday.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Wow. A big boy.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

I can't imagine leaving my child somewhere. I was forever counting mine if we were anywhere.

So the hummers are on the move. Woohoo!!!

Ewwww, I was creeped out by those webs, too. I would take a snake over a spider any day of the week. ICK, now I am getting goosebumps all over.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Yes, he is, Rosemary. I am thinking he will be their forever child. Socially he has problems and melts down very easily. Don't know how he will do in a job situation. He prefers the company of kids MUCH younger than he. His best buddy on their street is 7 I think. The difference in their size is very marked as they walk down the street together.

Thanks for the link to shoes.

What cuties, Jo! No problem leaving my kid anywhere, but my DH left his 1st wife at the rest area......several miles down the road Michael asked where his mother was!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Yup I live with DD with hair pulled back seated at right.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

My mom was the youngest of 15, so I won't even ponder that.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Whew!!! My body hurt as I read that, Victor.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I knew omeone from a family of 12 they have different kind of life than kids from a smaller group. GF said the older ones took care of the littles and all had chores to do.

18 pregnancies, Jan. Three did not survive. Amazing my grandmother did.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

That was before family planning.
My Great Grandfather had 7 .In those days the children were to help on the farm. His first three were girls. My aunts memoires reflect his disapointment.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Yes, amazing!!!

Sorry to hear he was disappointed Jo, but understand that was the thinking then. Helping out was expected!!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Interesting!

There was a family on our street when we were kids, 13 boys one girl...they had beds set up in the basement like a dormitory. I can remeber going inside and thinking it smelled like dirty diapers!

Nice looking family Jo!

My boys are adults with kids of their own and I still know where they are and what they are doing...

I had an xray today after my DR. Appt. Will see if my hip is arthritic or my back is out of whack!! Realized I need to take care of me.

Thomaston, CT

Yes, Jan...good idea!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

It IS good to be us. especially in this age. Wish I had some cake to celebrate.
Somehow the pounds I was going to loose this winter ,never got lost.Man I hate dieting.

Thomaston, CT

Yes, I know the feeling, Jo!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Me, too. However a friend told me about an app called MYfitnesspal. I started on Monday and have found it very easy to use. It tracks your calories and exercise and tells you how many you have left as the day progresses. I will wait til Sunday to weigh again. I get discouraged easily, so daily weighing isn't a good idea for me.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

I may have been rash in posting that RD. DIL just called and it may not be bad news after all after talking with the nurse. We will see on Monday after she has more blood work done to monitor the hormone levels. Please continue to pray
