Thoughts and prayers to you and your niece, Allison!

ge..here's another really cool Diabetes device that will actually soon be available to patients...

http://www.positiveidcorp.com/products_iglucose.html

Its already been approved by the FDA and FCC, and supposedly will be on the market "in the first quarter of 2012". If you click on the Press Release tab, you can find several different press releases listed on there about this iglucose system, what it does, and... honestly... in my opinion... how totally cool it is! I can't wait till it reaches the market and start asking my son's endo about it!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

My problem with it is,I have a spot on my present meter that allows my doc to plug into the memory and load the daily readings.
It wolud be nice if the breath meter did the same.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

too cute

Cresson, PA(Zone 6a)

Yeah, at my son's last endo appointment, they gave us software and a scanning device of sorts (ez-manager/diasend program) where I can download the information from his pump onto the diasend website and it is linked to his endo office so any of the CDE's and endo can look up his basals, bolus info, bg readings, carbs ingested per meal, etc etc etc... anything we do in/with his pump and meter every day! Personally though, I like this iglucose device because, as a mom of a diabetic, if he's ever out with his friends (when he gets older and wants to become more independant), or is at school, or really, anywhere.... when he tests his sugar, I'll know almost instantaneously because the readings would be delivered to me via text message, email, etc straight to my phone, no matter where I'm at or where hes at. PLUS, it allows the Dr's to get on board with it all as well! Just would take out some of the worry as a parent when he gets older and more independant, to know when he does check, what his bg level is, or, for that matter... if he should SKIP a test!

Plus, with it automatically being delivered to the iglucose portal site as well.... would mean one less thing for me to have to remember to download, or for the dr's to take the time out during our appointments to download.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks for the new thread, Jo. Adorable baby polar bear. So sweet.

Allison, sorry to hear about your niece. I'll say prayers for her. Hope all goes well.

I hate it when I'm out with a friend or family for dinner and they answer a call on their cell. I think it's rude. When I'm out to dinner I don't answer calls. I try and remember to silence the phone, or leave it in my car. It would be rare that an emergency would come up. I remember when I lived in Arizona and my brother came to visit. 50% of the time he was on that phone. VERY RUDE!

Wow, that robot is quite amazing!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

One time my BIL called me on my cell to ask me to pass the salt! ;)

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yeah, I don't answer my phone if I'm out to dinner either. Amazing that couple will not talk but be texting the enitre time
unless it's because they don't want people to know what they're talking about, but then go somewhere private and have a real discussion

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I cant imagine what is so earth shakeing that phones need to be on constantly unless we are so paranoid we need to have another voice in our ears all day.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I think the paranoid already have enough voices in their heads. ;)

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

hoping your niece feels better allison

Thomaston, CT

Glad she's feeling better!

Your niece is in my prayers, Allison.

Wow - reportedly the FBI got the head of Anonymous and he has been ratting out his comrades for months!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

dont follow much and Anon. isnt familliar to me.
Its Rush whose head I want.
He has gained back all the weight he lost. What tub.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

If you don't like Rush, I assume you hate Bill Maher, who has consistently said much worse.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Bill Maher is a pig!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

NOW Wait a minute. I liked Bill until about 10 years ago. He seems to need to go for the cheap shot lately while Rush has been off the radar for ages.

Jon Stewert wins hands down for me.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

11 years ago he said our troops were the 'real cowards'. He has used the most offensive language against women of anyone out there. But you have the right to like him.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thank gawd for old brain drainage. I must have missed the offensive remarks about women. We talking about Bill?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Are you kidding???

Absolutly I saw it on the news today. We take a lot forgranted where we live.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

and I betcha she'd do it again in a heartbeat! there's something about a mother's protection instincts

Oh Yeah I used to like Bill Maher too, about 15 yrs ago when he was on regular tv, but guess it's no holds barred now that he has a cable show...can't stand him

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hey, what about dads?!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Happy Birthday, Oreo cookie! 100 today.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Dads have great instincts where heir children are concerned. Now that we have the aloof Victorian moores out of the way.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Amazing story. Most parents would do anything to protect their family.

On a different note, I am in Annapolis staying with a DIL and kids while DS is in Mississippi. One of our other sons- the one that lives around the corner from us- called me a little bit ago to inform me that they just found out that they are expecting baby #4. I am beyond thrilled for them. God definitely has a plan for them. This was a surprise! Please keep them in your prayers-he is trying to finish his MDIV degree this year. He has been looking for ministry opportunities, so I don't know how this will affect that. He currently is our associate pastor. It is amazing to see his level of maturity for being in his early 30's. Also praying she doesn't have morning sickness.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

WOW #4...better them than me!!!!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Heehee. That will make #10 grandykids

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

That's great Jan, congrats and good luck to them!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)
