Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Don't want to ask!

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Maybe the 13 year old is stretching the truth to her classmates?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yeah I'm thinking that's probably the case

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

She is not the type.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

hmmm so then the alternative is that she really is dating at 13? geez

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I am SO happy I do not have daughters!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

What we don't know is if the parents know.

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Mom: Dr. Dentist -- are you SURE you want to pull my 8 year old son's teeth in your office with just the needle numbing type anesthetic? Shouldn't he be sleeping or at least drowsy? My mom says he would do better at an oral surgeon and in a more controlled environment.

Dr. Dentist: No worries mom. I do this all the time. Routine procedure. Baby teeth. Got to make room for those teeth coming up behind. He will do fine. No need for the oral surgeon.

Mom: But he is eight. Those teeth aren't loose. If there is a problem, he will fear the dentist forevermore and he may struggle during the procedure. THERE WILL BE BLOOD AND HE WILL BE AWAKE! My mother has been calling me and is feeling strongly about the oral surgeon. She will pay if insurance denies.

Dr. Dentist: No worries. He will do fine. You tell your mother we have it all under control. Routine.

later that evening......

Mom: Mom, the dentist says he can do it. We trust him and you are worrying for nothing. We have made our decision. No, we won't reconsider. Mom, you raised your kids and now it is our turn. I will call you after the procedure is over. We promised dear grandson a new video game if he is brave. We will take him for it after the dentist. It is a routine procedure.

Fast Foward a few days......

Mom: MOM! Mommy, it's me. I am in the oral surgeon's waiting room with dear hubby and newborn baby! Mom! Dr. Dentist pulled one tooth but the other wouldn't come out mom! He had to stop and we rushed dear grandson over here. The oral surgeon has him back in surgery now! I will call you tonight mom to let you know how he is. Don't worry mom -- it is all under control.

Why are they pulling an 8 year olds teeth?

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

My son got rear ended the other day while at a red light...and off duty policeman with wife and child...got out of his car very apologetically...son said "what the heck happened" cop said..."I was reaching for my phone"

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

At least he was honest.
I just got my car back, it took 7 weeks for the insurance to send me a check, then have the repairs done.

Good for the officer who admitted wrongdoing!

Jen - this kid had PERFECT first set teeth. Picture book - top and bottom. But...the teeth were tight and no spaces between. Great for second teeth but dentist said not so great for first teeth which should have spaces. Sure enough --- as the second came in the first did not fall out. It was like he was growing a second row of teeth on the bottom. The two pulled -- not the four side by side in the bottom front ---but the the right and left that flank those four (Like where the vampire's bottom fangs go) BEHIND those teeth - literally in the floor of the mouth it seems are the 2nd set coming up. The dentist said that if those baby teeth didn't fall soon --the second set likely would not move forward. The first two never got loose and the second set were halfway up. So out they came -- sort of -- as you have read.

Hope he's feeling OK Rosie! Not pleasant.....heading for dentist today, but only for cleaning....

Yes they will pull teeth from an 8 year old to a 14 year old. Trust me I know.

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

thanks robin
I guess i will give a call tonight - hard to from work. I saw the photos of the aftermath in the mouth - eeech!
8 is awfully young - just the needle is scary but the entire extraction with nothing to take the edge off mentally

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I prescribe an ice cream diet for the patient, a smack in the head for the dentist and a nice flower arrangement for your Mother.

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Ice cream - done (but i think it is water based ice)
dentist --- well -----
and the flowers -- I'd gladly trade those for a little more 'paying attention to what mamma says ---she's been there' from the kids! I think they think I run around saying 'the sky is falling!! the sky is falling!'

Fields down the road from us, usually has soybeans but I guess it was cover crops(very short looked like mini wheat, I know nothing about field crops) that they were cutting down, there was a bunch of Hisitic Jews in full garb from NY and PA in there today walking thru the fields and watching the combine do it's work, we've been here almost 8 years and never saw that before

Thomaston, CT

Don't Hasidic Jews dress all in black? Must have been unbearable in that heat.....

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

That was the thought that crossed my mind, too. HOT, HOT, HOT

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Same supplies no matter the teacher. Then, in Sep, the teacher might tweak it.
