Crocus 'Remembrance' they are HUGE
Ugh...the weeds....
Whats New March 2012
made in china? that is too bad
The flowers are cheerful!
peepers are out for the first time this year
Got my trench coat ready.
Have not heard the peepers.....that's because the dam is still closed :>(....
Probably, Bill
The peepers were out here too.
my cheap barrels do that.. hope yours was as well Jen.. the wooden ones from christmas tree can last a few years outside.. then the bands snap if left out
I really don't want to just throw it out, wonder how it would look if I paint it?
can always use stone spray .. like we use on the tombstones.. will hide most of the mess
Do I get that at Lowe's or HD?
both I think.. but if I remember right Lowes had a bigger selection .. think our Ace Hardware had some as well
thanks
Loverly. Mine doesn't have jewelry. ;(
Cool. Killed mine by mistake a couple of yrs ago.
I have two other naked harrys don't feel bad Jan
Whew! Thought it was me
I have two new hazel saplings that survived the winter. Where there were buds a week ago on one, now it has been chewed to the main trunk. :( I never learn to protect new trees enough. Bet the critters thought they were dessert.
Just noticed today all the leaves off my heuchera Green Spice have been eaten....
I'm just back from Savannah and Florida, and was welcomed by many crocus, daffs, and peepers!
Enjoyed the above pics of the early blooms.
Ohh. What critter would eat a heuchera?
I know why I like peonies. So easy to grow, not so hard to plant and one can ignore them without peril in August. There are many little red eyes at ground level everywhere. Coral charm in its second spring is showing about seven of them. It is supposed to be nearly indestructible but why wouldn't I want it? Others like John Harvard are having their first spring.
I have taken a shovel and just chopped out a section of Peonie and planted it somewhere else and it grows. In fact I looked this evening and seen that I have one mare that needs thinning out. So yes I would say they are easy to grow.
Welcome back, Deb. How was it?
I loved Savannah, all the town squares, and the history, and the moss on the trees. We saw Forrest Gump's bench, then it was on TV the night we got home, so that was funny. We ate at Paula Dean's restaurant.
We visited my sister who just moved to Florida last summer. The weather was great everywhere. My 3 year old nephew loved the ocean, and we would lift him up in the waves, he laughed the entire time. When we left he said "but there's more waves coming"!
oohhhh how were the hoe cakes??
What are hoe cakes? Corn bread pancakes? They were good.
yep.. every time I saw her making them.. I start drooling.. they look good
Glad the weather was nice for you cause Savannah in the summer is just NASTY humid and they have bugs like you wouldn't believe
Very cool that Harry has jewelry
RosemaryK : deer eat heucheras.
Welcome back Deb. I love Savannah too. The old part of the city.
Welcome back Deb, glad you had a good time.
Glad you enjoyed your visit, Debi.
Sounded like the trip was great, Deb.....I remember the black crowned night herons in the Savannah park gazing down on folks...they are such a creepy bird! Yes, Jo, I'm thinking it was deer that ate my heuchera....
Nice catching up on all the doings up North while we were in Cuba and Fla. We got to the old family Botanical garden near Cienfuegoes and found that the Cuban government has a staff of 80 plus taking care of it. We were warmly welcomed and we were all in tears when my DH told the guide about our connection to the garden. But no one offered to give us back the deed to the land or the key to the old home which was built in 1847 and is still standing. We had an amazing time in Cuba and then visited near Palm Beach a Japanese Botanical Garden that was delightful, but I was glad to see our garden full of spring blooms when we got back yesterday with only a few doggie craters to repair and fill with only a moderate amount of damage.
Especially loved seeing ge1836 bird houses. Special work My Dear. Also seeing all the Hellebores which I adore blooming away in so many peoples gardens and I was happy to see them here too yesterday. My best welcome home was some great patches of Reticulated Iris and some surprisingly better blooms than expected of all the crocus. They must have loved the mild winter. Is it over? I will post pictures later after doing the laundry. Patti
You mean I'm not the only one who cries at old homesteads and gardens?
Glad your back Patti.
Welcome home, dear!!! Glad you were able to see the family garden whilst in Cuba. Thankful it is being well cared for.
Very cool, can't wait to see pictures!!!
