*** Sweet Interruptions # 234 ***
Was outside transplanting some bulbs and I noticed this Angel sitting in the neighbors yard. So I wandered over and checked her out. I asked Mike where he got her and he told me some old guy down the street was going to throw her away so Mike brought her home, then asked me if I wanted her. ^_^ She needs a little TLC but nothing is broke not even a chip just the paint. She stands 46" tall. Will have to create a special garden for her where ever I end up.
See those pink things?? My cousin Susan, knitted them for me. For cold days when I take the dogs walking, fingerless gloves, leg warmers, scarf and a hat I'll NEVER wear lol. But the weather now is too warm, I would roast to death, lol.
Ladies - I know I'm lucky to Have a hubby, but it still makes me heartsick to realize he'd lied to me for all these years. I know he'd realize I'd be disappointed in him, and would likely hound him........ But cigarettes are not only deadly, they're Expensive and we can't afford to be smoking.
There are some other things involved that I won't go into however, he's mounting up some pretty unforgivable stuff.
On the other side of the coin, I was making a banner for our church (Pastor asked for a specific one and sent me a pic of it). It says "You Are Forgiven". Bob knew what it said, and he asked how it was going, so I held it up to him - kinda awkward / funny situation, but I wasn't forgiving him for his earlier words in the day nor his lying to me.
There are some other issues that I'm afraid if I told you that you'd agree - maybe I can't let go..........
I had my share of lies from my ex. I can't tell you the many times I found empty Chivas bottles in the trunk of his '98, and worse, money drained from our bank accounts.
The lies I learnt stemmed from his fears, if he had told the truth. He admitted later, that he was afraid I would leave him.
Then the cruel bravado started. Got tired of having to give excuses and no more hiding places to cater to his addiction..he started hitting me. He thought that I'd be the submissive Asian wife and stayed by him.
Alanon and my American co-workers taught me to move on.
Anyway.. how about some smiles.
Returning to my ex.
When I learnt to fight back, albeit, verbally.. he said that if he knew I'd be a "bit*h", he wouldn't have got a wife from Asia, he could have found one in America!!
I reminded him that he had 4 American wives before me :))
ETA: So who's the proven bigger bit*h since all his marriages failed.
Returning to the present.
It's been raining for a couple of days. This morning, I noticed there's a leak in the wash house.
Told Kel about it, and he said, "Well it's been raining hard!"
Duhhhhh!!!!
I snapped back at him... "Thanks!! I thought the cats were peeing on the roof!!"
Men.............

LOL Jaye "I thought the cats were peeing on the roof!!" ??? LOL LOL LOL
Thanks for the laugh!
Right now Bob & I are watching "The Holiday".......... MEN! and Bob agrees with me! lol
No rain! Hallelujah!!
Will be dragging Kel to the hardware store to get that roof fix tomorrow if it doesn't rain.
Susan, Kel's Honeydo list is getting longer. I can't enforce him to do the things that needed to be done as he still 'helps' his parents.
But a leaking roof justifies some sacrifice on his rest right?
I wish all my sistahs a blessed week.
Well, I Finally tackled the issue of making my RWB/RW blocks - the pattern I have makes a 10 1/2" block and I need 12 1/2" blocks........ so I finally figures - put a sashing around of 2 1/2" and I'm SET! DUH - took me entirely too much time to think that one through.................
So, today I'm cutting my pieces for the blocks
Sometimes the obvious escape the smartest of all minds !!!
Haven't started on mine Susan. :( Will do so asap. :P
Well, my brain has been "every which way but loose" lately, and I haven't been able to think straight.
Guess today is somewhat better, but I'd better get going on my sewing projects!!
Hey ladies...
Sheesh... quilt blocks, cats peeing on roofs, honey do lists, angels appearing in yards, ... sure is a lot happening at your homes.
Only thing happening here is that I woke up again this morning with swollen glands, itchy ears, sore throat, coughing and blowing again. So, I went to the doctor... gawd, I should have done that last week. Said I might have started out with a cold, but it left me with a sinus infection, inflamed glands and a really red inflamed throat. The crick in my neck from sleeping upright in a chair has spread into my entire right shoulder, neck and down my back muscle. So, I'm now taking an antibiotic, and muscle relaxers. Oh, and I can throw in the mix pollen allergies... it's already thick here.
BUT, that's not all... she could not give me a steroid shot because my blood pressure was way high. 170/80. I've never had high blood pressure before, but I have suspected lately that I might have a problem with it. Dizzy spells, light headed spells, and the ringing in my ears never goes away. I've been taking decongestants for the cold symptoms, and they play havoc with blood pressure... so, I probably should have seen the doctor before diagnosing myself and self medicating.
I will go back in two weeks for a blood pressure check again, and probably be put on meds for the rest of my life. UGH.

Afternoon everyone. So sorry to hear of all the men problems. Think we have all been there!
I am back from my trip, and still no baby. I went to her Dr.'s, appointment this morning and got to hear the babies heartbeat. Pretty cool to heart that squishy fast heart beat! Dr. said unless something happens he is sticking to the early to mid March delivery date... So this old Grandma will be anxiously sitting here waiting for that call... I sat with Heather and tried to walk her through the process of cutting fabric the right way, then sewing them together. It was a lot of fun. As soon as I get to the computer, I will show you her first quilt.
Cindy, love that beautiful garden angel! Will you be painting her?
be, glad to hear your house is empty, but geesh, sure hope you get lots of rest, and get to feeling better soon!
I'm going to clean her up best I can and just do her in one color, then going to paint her with some weather coating to protect her from the weather.
BJ - you're right - you shouldn't assume to self-medicate in this case, but sometimes it's good....... Hard to say when you should/shouldn't, eh?
Love that you're showing Heather how to quilt!!
Cindy - how lovely to have that angel and will you be "sealing" her before you paint so the paint adheres?
What colour are you painting her?
Hmmm good question Susan. I will need to clean it real good first to see how much of the old paint I can get off. Some has flaked away from being unprotected, then will probably seal her with concrete sealer. Then after she is painted I will then seal her with Man O War, marine varnish. I use it on all of my outdoor ornaments. But as for a good color hmmmm I don't know, any suggestions, Ladies?????
BJ, I just got off the phone with Judy. She has the cruds for 4 weeks now. Perhaps it may not be allergies.. 2 different zones.. got to be something going around.
Any infection associated with your ENT, or taking otc sinus meds, will raise your bp BJ. I always tell my doctor if I'm taking sinus meds, when he's taking my bp.
Hope you feel better soon. Lots of hot tea with honey!
LK, I have some fabric for boys that I think Heather could use. Instead of cutting and sewing, I'm still sorting fabrics!! LOLOL.
I got some flannel cloth to turn into Dylan's burp cloths too...unless I got lazy and just get some from WM :D
Anything but pink, Cindy. Blue would be the best. Thanks for promoting marine paint. They're the best for outdoor environment.
Going to bed. For the first time since Synda got me the feet massager, I ran out of fuel!!! Lolol.... so will crash soon.
Good night sistahs!
I know Susan, right? Who goes to the doctor every time they get a cold?
Jaye, I would suspect it was only the sinus med that elevated my BP, but I haven't taken any since Saturday. Yesterday I felt pretty decent, like I'm getting over it. I've suspected a problem with my BP for a while now... dizzy, head rushes, constant ringing in my ears, and a couple times I almost felt like I was about to pass out. It just comes and goes, and I really thought it would just pass. Oh, who am I kidding... I just hate going to the doctor... they always have bad news.
Cindy, I vote for white.
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!
Here is the quilt she put together. Fabric and pattern are hers. She just wanted a simple pattern, but when I showed her all she could do, she said her next one will be much better. She did not know you could stack fabric, and cut several layers at one time, she thought you had to cut out each square, one at a time, she did not know what a sashing was, and did not know about binding... She does now! ^_^
That is just adorable. And what a fine job she did on it. Isn't it fun teaching total newbies???? She must be feeling mighty proud right about now as well as you, her teacher!!!! Great job - well done.......
LK - I'm making 9 blocks, and find that if I try to stack cut that they slip, so I'm doing individual cuts...... more precise that way........... for me anyway!
LK, you having only sons must be pretty HAPPY that now you got a DIL to pass on your love of quilting!!! You must be so proud of her first quilt! Pretty soon she'll have a fabric stash bigger than yours!
Good job Heather!
Hi Barb! Do you have anyone in your family that quilts?
Susan, the most I stack would be 4 layers. But me too prefer individual cutting.
Nobody at all. I've tried to get my daughter interested in it but she just doesn't have time. Between a full time job (50 hrs wk) the house, school two nights a week and keeping up with the boys activities, she is lucky to have ten minutes to herself. I think if the schedule wasn't quite so busy, she would like it. She has a project started but just has not been able to get it done. It's funny though, - I'll offer to finish it up for her and she always says "No, I want to do it myself!" The question is when??????
I do have a good friend here in town who was quilting with me. She has been ill now for three months and it affects her ability to see so we haven't been doing any sewing together. But I'm hoping she will get better soon.
Thanks everyone. It is a lot of fun, being able to help her out. We had fun shopping for fabric, she kept saying, this is so pretty, but what will I do with it? I told her if she buys it, she will eventually find a purpose for it? She has the bug for sure! I find I can cut 5 layers safely, but more than that, and the fabric slips.
Also, if you press the fabrics together before cutting, they won't slip as easily.
ah yes - that's so true! I had little "piles" of fabric on my ironing board, for each block. Instead of moving them when I needed to iron a fabric in order to get ready to cut it, I just laid the fabric on top and when I tried to pull it off the fabric "clung" to the fabric underneath..........
Watched Real Steel last night on Pay Per View and Loved it - great family film!!
Oh yes it was a great movie!! Doug and I have watched it twice already ^_^
Another movie on my watch list, Susan.
LK, your choice of blue and white fabric.. is it for Dylan? I got some that would be appropiate for him. If not, I got lots of blue and white florals too.
Thanks for that tip Barb on ironing the pieces together. I'll try that today.
Good morning sistahs. Yep, I'm up. Slept around 8'ish last night. I know.. a tad too early.. but I had been busy busy busy yesterday.
This should keep my weight down, right? But unfortunately, insulin will make sure I remain bloated.
Grab some iced fruit juice, you are having bagels and cream cheese for breakfast!
It's Ash Wednesday today. Hmm..... to those doing "Lent", what are you giving up?
Have a good day sistahs.
Morning Jaye! Your up early! Thanks for breakfast.
Blue and white is to go with all the other blue and white blocks I have. But I could use it for Dylan too!
You can count me in with the years of lying, and he was so good at it you had to believe him. Jaye, I've been in Alanon too, for years, just wish I had gone sooner. Well, that is all water under the bridge now.
Love that angel, Cindy, I would clean her up and think I would go along with BJ on the color (white). Generous neighbor!!.
Well, another nice day so guess that means I should finish up the weeding out in front. Going to put Preem down to discourage the weeds. Hope it works well.
well, Bob & I are "together" again - just wish he'd say "Sorry", but that's not his style..... he seems to think - wait long enough, and it's done with - no need to say "Sorry"....... some men, eh? Ah well.............
Update from Faye, posted in another thread.
Hi everyone. Haven't read anything here since my last post. Boy do things change fast. Ray has just gotton home from another Emergency stay at the Hospital. EMT took him in last Fri. AM @ 4:30 and I got him home last night. The Stint that was in his Kidney had caused infection and the infection again had spread into his bloodstream. Sun. while at the Hospital Ray's Kidney shut down and his bowels blocked. On Mon. he was transported from Mariah Parham to Wake Med. in Raleigh so a Surgeon there could go from Ray's back and put a tube into the Kidney to drain the fluid build up. While in surgery, Ray's breathing got to be a concern for the Surgeon so off to the Emergency Room to spend the remainder of the day. The XRay that was done sowed that the Surgeon hadn't punctured Ray's lung. The Dr. told me why he wanted the XRay only after he had seen the results. Then on Tues. afternoon the bowels finally decided to work...first time since the past Fri. There is so much more but this let's you know why I haven't been here.
Will try to catch up asap.
Love & Hugs
Faye
The problem with men is.. they ARE from another planet!!! Agree sistahs? I'm sure there are plenty of times when you thought you're speaking a different language!
You know I've reached exasperation when I tell Kel "Do I need to explain to you in simpler sentences or do I have to DRAW it out for you!"
Lolol!!
LK, thanks for letting us know. Lord is still taking care of Ray.
It's Ash Wednesday and special prayers going up soon.
Jaye - trouble is, Bob speaks to me that way, too.......... he's tres exasperating when he does that......
(((((((Hugs Susan)))))))))
Kel, he wouldn't dare say anything like that to me. He'd have a slipper landing on his forehead!
Thanks Jaye.
After what I told you over a year ago that happened, I wouldn't throw anything at Bob.................
It's a fact... most men can be a jerk. I've had my share in my life. Even Don has his moments. Funny thing about Don is that he knows when he's gotten out of line, after the fact... then he gets really lovey dovey... can't do enough to appease me... as long as I suppress my smile about the whole thing, I can have what ever I want... LOL... really gets comical sometimes. I can drag it on for days and days... hehehe.
And, yes... I have to draw him pictures ... he just doesn't get it sometimes.
But for the most part, he's a pretty good guy.
LOL BJ - Bob's all lovey-dovey now....... we were driving along and he reached over to hold my hand, and then kissed it ever-so-gently...... Yes, we have to keep "our boys" in line, eh?!?! lol
Yes, my Bob's a pretty good guy, but sometimes his emotions (worrying about getting a job, and forgetting I'M in the 'same boat'..........
