*sigh* right with ya, Sue.......... btw - what's Savings? LOL
*** Sweet Interruptions # 234 ***
Jaye, as of right now things with Doug;s dad have been put on hold. I know deep down in my heart Doug and I will be moving in with my mom. It's just a matter of when. We are going to stay here for as long as possible. Doug's dad has other options, and plus he is in a better situation than either of our mom's. He's just being as a$$ with Judy because he doesn't like her telling him what he can and can not do. So if he wants to get away from her that bad then he'll have to do it without us.
Bless your heart Sue. I feel your worries sistah, especially when there are 2 kids that depend on you. This is a good time to turn off that ATM machine for your DD.
There's a boom in oil speculation in Ohio. Maybe Tim will get a job at home? Hang in there sistah.
Smart woman, Cindy. One issue at a time. Focus on what the known and familiar, and that's your mother.
Rain here, gonna avoid all else and focus on fabric!! Maybe right after Facebook!!!
Hello Ladies,
Had to go over to Doug's mom's and help her give Nanny a shower. I walked up to Nanny said "HI Nanny, how are you?" she says I'm ok I guess" lol. So I told her to stand up I was going to walk her into the bathroom to have a shower. Got her in the shower, she did real good, took the wash cloth and washed what she could. Then got her back in bed ans she conked out!!! LOL but she needed a good shower, all she'd been having was sponge baths, Wanda Lee can't give her showers by herself. so I am going to go over every week and help her give Nanny a shower. After that ordeal, lol Doug took me to lunch at Applebee's had a much needed margarita!!
YEAH DOUG!!!! So glad you're able to help her a little, you can come take care of me next! Hahahahaha!!!!
Man I can not believe how things work out. Doug's dad found a house....3bdrm 2 1/2 bath. A rent to own deal, he pays $600 a month for 1 year, then $800 a month from then on. I told him that I was not making any decisions to move from here until I know more about my mom. He said well it didn't matter who comes to live with him, he is going to get the house. i told him to do what's best for him. We are going with him to look at it tomorrow.
Wow, that is a great deal Cindy!
Good day ladies.
A beautiful day today, sun's out, tolerable temps and I hope it stays this way for the weekend.
Cindy, what you did for Nanny, reminded me of the first time I gave my late MIL her first shower. It's always been sponge bath by her daughter or the aides that come to the house once a week.
I decided that since she's able to walk some, for her to climb into the tub and sit on a sturdy metal legs stool. I gave her her first sit-down shower and with her feeble hands, she insisted on cleaning herself.
When I dried her up, she started crying. Told me that she had always wanted someone to do that, but don't want to "bother anyone".
Well then, since that day, ex SIL and I took turns to help her until MIL can't walk.
Cindy, looks like Doug's dad will do what he want to do, and won't take any advice. But if he had a good deal on that house, hope it's something you can see living in it in the future.
Fresh pot of coffee brewed. LK, have some.. you need extra caffeine for all that sewing you're doing!
He sure has a mind of his own, guess that's better than being completely senile LOL!! Ok, bad joke, I know. I wish he wasn't such a hard head but at least he's able to make his own decisions, or so it seems anyway.
Hey Crissy! Half a day to go and your weekend starts!
Yes!! A 4 day weekend at that!!!!
Morning everyone!
Crissy, enjoy that 4 day week end!
Jaye, what are you doing today? Thanks for the coffee!
TGIF for Crissy!!! Beings I don't work it is always the weekend for me, lol.
When Art, (Doug's dad) was here talking about the house he kept hemming and hawing about the two different ways to go with the house. He had Doug confused but I knew what he was talking about. So I asked all the questions. I asked him if he knew what a rent to own house involved? Then he told me the lady told him $600 for the first year, then $800 after that. I know that when you do a rent to own there is a contract. So I asked him about that and he did not seem to know anything about that so I explained to him what entails a rent to own. Then I asked what about a down payment. He said that is the only problem he is having, but may be able to work out a deal with this person. So I am not holding my breath, lol.
Uuuhhhh Cindy, no, I wouldn't either. He's trying to get something for nothing.
I've been lurking, but quietly watching how some of your lives unfold... it's so much fun.
Cindy, it's so good that your FIL has you to educate him before he makes a mistake. Rent To Own can be tricky, and he needs to know all about that.
Crissy... what on earth are you going to do with yourself for 4 days? I know, sit on your butt and eat bon bons... right? hehehe
I used to love those 4 day weekends... it was like a mini vacation.
When I was taking care of my mom, I had 2 of her church friends come twice a week to help me get her over into the tub. I rented a seat from the medical supply place that swiveled outside the tub, we got her from the chair to the seat, then swiveled her around to the tub, one of us holding her legs up over the side. We'd pour the water over her, and she'd use the wash cloth herself. I'd actually get in the tub with her, standing behind her, and wash her hair... only once a week. Sometimes we'd laugh so hard at the comedy of it all, but we got the job done... and she felt so much better after. And when we were done... the bathroom was a soggy mess, and we were all wet and exhausted... but I made it worth the helpers time... I served lunch after, and mom got to visit with her friends... we called it our tea party. Oh, the memories.
Hospice would have done that with me on the days they came... but we had more fun with it. The nurse gave her a spit bath on the other days.
Feeling a bit better now... the swollen glands are gone, and the throat isn't sore anymore. Still have some nasal congestion and the cough comes and goes at will. But over all, I'm feeling better. I'm trying to get some jars done now, in the kitchen because I can't work in the craft room ... ugh. I have a show next month, and my sister has bugged me till I sent the paper work in to attend the art fest in April... so I have to get some more things made up.
The step daughter is moving to her moms tomorrow. YEAH !!!
Well tomorrow I'm going to an Arkansas Dave's Garden luncheon, then Sunday will be sit on butt day, then Monday will be a work in the garden day, and Tuesday I'm going shopping with my friend all day.
So glad you feel better BJ, and so glad she's moving back in with her mom! Sheesh!!
Hey Bj, sounds like your busy! Hope you sell lots of your pretties at the shows! Glad to hear your feeling better too! Bet you are relieved to have her going back home! Is she still working?
Crissy, enjoy your long week-end.
LK, she starts work Monday. Moving to her moms means a shorter commute to work. Thank the lord for small blessings.
Thank you... I wish I could sell lots of stuff too... just would make me feel like I'm not spinning my wheels for nothing.
Crissy, that sounds like a mighty fine mini vacation to me.
Oh it's going to be wonderful, and I'm going to sleep!!!!
bj glad she id going to her mom's. Glad your feeling better. sending many hopeful prayers that you get lots of great sales. Your stuff sure is pretty,

Sistah Sue.. sending prayers for your friend too. Thanks for letting us know you'd be missing for a while. At least Tim will be home to take care of the house and kids.
Extra vitamins sistah!
Crissy, have fun at the luncheon. How many years have you been doing this now?
You're on your way to a healthy recovery, BJ, with step daughter moving out!!
Don't mean to sound mean, but that's the nature of things. Sometimes the actions of those close to you can affect your health.
Good luck on the show. Hope there will be a large BUYING crowd.
LK, I've been a bad girl. Got busy on phone chat for hours, but I did managed to get some strips together.
Maybe tomorrow I'll start sewing the RWB blocks!!
Jaye, do you have a recipe for kimche? Todd loves it, and we can't buy it here anywhere.
LK - I'm surprised you can't buy kimchi at any of the Asian food stores...... we have it here, in the little brown pot!
I found this recipe on AllRecipes.com - Jaye, does it sound right?
Spicy Cabbage Kimchi
Ingredients
2 heads Napa cabbage
1 1/4 cups sea salt
1 tablespoon fish sauce
5 green onions, chopped
1/2 small white onion, minced
2 cloves garlic, pressed
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon ground ginger
5 tablespoons Korean chile powder
Directions
Cut the cabbages in half lengthwise and trim the ends. Rinse and cut into pieces about 2 inch square. Place the cabbage into large resealable bags and sprinkle salt on the leaves so they are evenly coated. Use your hands to rub the salt in to the leaves. Seal the bags and leave at room temperature for 6 hours.
Rinse the salt from the cabbage leaves and then drain and squeeze out any excess liquid. Place the cabbage in a large container with a tight fitting lid. Stir in the fish sauce, green onions, white onion, garlic, sugar and ginger. Sprinkle the Korean chile powder over the mixture. Wear plastic gloves to protect your hands and rub the chile powder into the cabbage leaves until evenly coated. Seal the container and set in a cool dry place. Leave undisturbed for 4 days. Refrigerate before serving, and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month (if it lasts that long!).
LK, Susan... Kim Chee is a Korean national dish.
So I wouldn't know what the original recipe should be.
I've seen on Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" that good Kim Chee should be fermented longer than a week, before serving.
One good benefit is that the fermented enzymes in the cabbage, will help slow down the aging process. I don't know whether that's true, but those Koreans don't age.
Hmmmm.... unfortunately there is no Asian food stores around here LK. If not I'll get some for you.
No Asian stores here either!
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!
What are you all up to this week-end?
I am going to San Antonio to help Andy's girlfriend do some sewing. I will be gone Sunday and Monday.
Good morning
I have found Kimchee at Walmart in the small little section with the soy and other natural stuff in the fridge section by produce.
i love it with eggs !
thanks for the kind words
Anthony Bourdain is good eye candy too LOLLLL
not much going on here
Savannah has a bad cough
Austin and Tim at the barn working. doing man stuff
Jaye to funny " Tim can take care of the house and kids " ROFLMAO ...... he can only cook spagetti and doesn't know how to work a mop if his life depended on it LOL I don't even think he knows what a mop looks like ?
Good morning sistahs.
LK, I'm so proud of Heather for wanting to learn!! She's so lucky she has you. Have fun. No rippings, I pray!
Sue, when it comes to ethnic foods, our local WM cater more to the Mexicans. The Asian section is about 5' wide, only 2 shelves. I'm lucky to get fresh ginger. It's just a couple of months ago, I see the return of tofus in the produce section!
Well then, Sue.. why don't you write an "Idiot Guide to Housekeeping"? I'm certain there will be lots of bachelors, students and challenged husbands like yours that will buy one!!! Poor you!
Have a fantastic Saturday everyone!
LK, you got me curious about Kimchee, I had never heard of it before (such a sheltered life, ya know)
So, I found this site that gives step by step instructions how to make it... she states that it's not authentic Korean, because some of the ingredients she used aren't even found in Korea, but she swears that if they were, they'd be included.
http://www.tigersandstrawberries.com/2007/04/30/up-close-and-personal-with-kimchi/
I doubt I'll ever make it myself... but you go for it, and have fun... looks like an awful lot of work.
And, have fun sewing with Heather... be safe on your trip.
Our cities are SO ethnic, you can't swing a cat (not that I would!!) without hitting Some ethnic group.
We have German, Spanish, Indian (north & south), Asian (all kinds, and of course Indian is Asian too!), Pakistani, ............ gosh, you name it, we have it! Even Texan LOL (Grill houses, doncha know?!?!)
We have Scottish butchers, too!!
Thanks for the recipe Bj. I will have to see if they have those ingredients here.
I think i need to move to Canada eh ?
oh i bet you eat good Susan. all those yummy groups of people who make such wonderful dishes.
Well the word is no job for Tim. *sigh*
Jack Nicholos ( golf pro ) who is also a golf course designer he owns his own company , is not even working ! His guys are all sitting unemployeed . yikes
so tim is going to get his CDL and i will continue cleaning houses and other stuff to make a few bucks here and there.
I may get more chickens to get more eggs and sell them.
I just never thought it would come to this.
We don't get unemployment ( self employeed ) so its a stretch for sure.
Austin sprained his finger today at his basketball game. poor kid, he can't play his WII either LOL he is pretty mad at that , don't cha know.
Sorry to hear about Tim's job. Praying something will come up soon. Did he ever get his checks from his last job? OU H on the sprained finger, but they are young, he will be playing his WII games in no time!
Ouch - can't play WII? awwwwww poor baby
Yes, we eat well, Sue
Sorry about Tim not having a job. Ya see - This is why I don't like self-employment (both my ex and my current have been self-employed, and it Sucks when they don't have work.
Bob isn't employed now, but at least he gets unemployment.........
Right now I'm not "happy" with Bob - he was really snarky earlier today - he'd gotten the "cold shoulder". Then we had company for dinner (Doug's birthday, so we invited him and a friend for dinner) so I was civil. As they were leaving (and both smokers) I said that Bob & I had quit many years ago. Bob said he quit about 5 years after he said he had (3 1/2 years ago), so he'd lied to me about smoking and was "smoking on the sly". I Absolutely Detest someone lying to me, and for your husband, who is supposed to love you enough Not to lie to do so, is absolutely WRONG! I am so angry with him right now!!!!!!!!!! and heartsick too.............
Good morning
Susan that does suck, when you find out something about husbands.
My Dh just confessed something to me and i m a bit hurt by it , but everyone deserves redemption .
I hope you guys can settle the issue. not fun being mad at each other.
well savannah is still sick with a fever
Austin finger is stil swollen.
so not much going on
Ladies... my hubby quit smoking 4 years ago. Or so he wants me to believe. While I was looking for a tool I needed in his shop a while back, I found his stash, and his ash tray hidden. I never said a thing about finding it. He might or might not suspect that I know, but never said anything to me. I can think of a about a million other things I'd rather worry about him lying about.
The step daughter is gone... made it to her moms yesterday... now, we'll see how long that lasts.
Good Morning Ladies,
Hmmmm wonder why men have to lie and sneak behind our backs??? Sue & Susan, at least your hubbys are alive to give them the what for. My late hubby lied to me about drinking and driving. He was .11 when he was killed, therefore I lost everything we owned, my home, car, had to find homes for 2 of my dogs. To this day I'll never know why he continued to lie to me about it, when he knew the consequences. He already had 2 dui's under his belt. That costs us thousands of dollars, many weekends of him cleaning road sides, and schooling, but he continued to drink and I am one the paying for it now.
Beautiful weather we are having, it's going to be up in the 70's come Thursday. We did not have a winter at all.
