Marietta, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh yes... Marion, those pictures of you, Mom and family are precious! So glad she enjoyed her day with her loved ones!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Kathy, I got the recipe in an email a few days ago. I am going to get the stuff and try to make it! Sounds easy and good!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hey Kathy Kiz

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks everyone for your comments. BJ, I am so glad you posted what you did about your Mom. We are going through the same situation with our Mom. Just took me and Sue awhile to realize what actually was happening.....duh, how dumb can a couple of blonds be? I am trying to spend as much time with her as I can. I usually go for 2-3 weeks at a time, then home for a month to 6 weeks to take care of my things. We so wish we could have her at home but that just wasn't to be.

Jaye, the eagles don't seem to be bothered by the traffic going in front of the area. I don't know what would happen if we were to walk near them. The picture was taken from the car.

Well Happy Valentines Day all--like Betty, I am alone but oh the wonderful memories in my heart, my 2 children and of course the 2 granddaughters. I am blessed!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Darn I typed a long long reply to BJ and Kathy, and only those words appear!!! :((
Got to go.. will be back!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cindy I completely agree, glad you went home to your man for Valentine's Day. My grandfather used to worry and fret like that and he had 4 ulcers from it.

BJ that is beautiful about your mom! YES Get to a doctor, if you have a cold that doesn't change for 3 days straight it's time to go in because it's probably turned into an infection. Colds should constantly be changing from one part of the body to another or sides of your body or something. What happened with her job?

Marion great pictures, thanks for sharing those!!

OMG LK!!!!! I have a friend with the last name of Boudreaux who lives in Thibodaux, I'm betting he's seen it but I've got to post that on his FB!

Dave's working 10 hour days right now so I just baked a devil's food cake and when I get home, hopefully I'll beat him home, I'll ice it with devil's food icing. MMMMMMM MMMMMMMMM

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Crissy... it is constantly changing... but it keeps hopping from my chest to my head, to my nose, glands... it's all over the place. One day I feel like I'm on the mend, the next, I'm worse. I no longer think its a cold or flu... I think it's allergies. I usually have mild allergies in the spring when the pollens are busy... but a few years ago my allergies really went nuts. Since we're having such a mild winter, and the pollens are erratic because of it... perhaps it's just allergies. So, I took ClarytonD Yesterday. Last night, I propped myself up in bed like usual to watch a little tv... and hacked and coughed till about 11pm... then all of a sudden, I quit. No congestion in my nose, chest.. no tickles in my throat.. I could breath. I dropped off to sleep. Then it started all over again at 4am. Only allergies act like that.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!!
No, my DH doesn't "do" anything for this day, but he's out shovelling snow now, so that's a good thing lol

For those who enjoy word "things"...

I have been in many places, but I've never been in Cahoots. Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone.

I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there.

I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there.
I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work.

I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore.

I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often.

I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.

Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older.

One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenaline flowing and pumps up the old heart!
At my age I need all the stimuli I can get!

I may have been in Continent, and I don't remember what country I was in.
It's an age thing.

Today is one of the many National Mental Health Days throughout the year.

Life is too short for negative drama & petty things. So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!
From one unstable person to another... I hope everyone is happy in your head - we're all doing pretty good in mine!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ah BJ - you're so right to think it's allergies...... has all the symptoms!
How often are you able to take Clariton D? Don't you have something for 24 hr relief?
I suffer from allergies too, but don't Think it's pollen-related, only perfumes at this point, although it could get better/worse. I started getting allergies in my 40's.......

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Susan... I love the word "thingie"... We've been to some of the same places !!! What a small world. Except, I have been in Cahoots and Cognito ... more than a few times while raising teenagers.

So, Don's off today and I told him that I think it's allergies... his first statement was "do you think it could be an allergy to MOLD"??? DUH !!! So, he then proceeded to move some things in the craft room to show me some black mold that's growing where we had standing water a couple years ago (long story... leak fixed... we moved on). My mouth popped open, and I said "how long have you known about that?" He saw it last fall, and intended to fix it this summer when we can empty the room and replace all the sheet rock, flooring, and shelves. I said "NO... You're trying to kill me... the truth is out now!!!"
So, I just moved my computer to the kitchen... he's now tearing out at least the worse of it in one corner... and I have no intentions of sitting in that room again till it's all replaced. I guess my craft work is on hold for a while now.
So, I just mixed up some borax water, and gave him the spray bottle... "when you're done there... be sure to spray everything down with this to kill what is exposed... SHEESH... What could he have been thinking?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, Susan... the ClarydonD is a 24 hour med. It works real well for me.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

BJ - but only for a few hours (5, fro 11pm to 4am)?
Maybe you were coughing up all that yucky stuff cuz the allergies wouldn't let you breathe and you ended up with it in your lungs?

btw - try Neti Pot - I do, and it's wonderful for clearing your sinuses!! It's a plastic tea pot and has 50 saline solution packets, which you pour through your nose. I know, I know - it sounds gross, but it Works! Your ears will pop and all your sinus cavities will clear. Just be sure to use pre-boiled water that has cooled before using it.
It's available at pharmacies and it isn't expensive like drugs lol

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I do use my neti pot 2ce a day... and it's amazing how good it feels after... immediate relief.
No, the Clarydon did make me feel better during the day and the cough wasn't as bad... actually was more productive yesterday. Maybe that's why I was able to sleep for a while, because it was more productive, I was able to clear more of it out.
Then it built up again... once I cleared it out again... I fell asleep again but in the chair in the living room so as not to keep Don up all night.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

that's great, BJ - so glad they both work!
Now, to get some more sleep............

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Have been in those places a time or two....LOL. While we are at it, have you been through Hopeful, Climax and Recovery?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love those words too Susan!

BJ, get a big bottle of bleach and keep spraying. Geesh, you would think he would have said something before?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Actually, LK... this article says to use Borax instead of Bleach for wood and drywall. The bleach just sits on the surface, while the water soaks in and actually feeds the roots of the mold. The mold will grow back after a while. It says that Borax has a higher ph, and will kill the mold and it won't grow back. Also, no harsh fumes with Borax like with bleach.
http://blackmold.awardspace.com/kill-remove-mold.html

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Marion - Climax? LOL
And on Valentine's Day, I imagine there are a lot of people who've gone through "Climax". Which state is it in? LOL
Marion - I know those are real towns......... mine are a "state of mind" LOL

BJ - I musta missed that part about the Mold!! omg - right where you were sitting at your computer for hours on end, too!!! And in your Craft Area!!! and the dear DH didn't realize how bad that was for your lungs?!?!?!?!
Well, at least he's taking care of it now! Tell him "kudos" and yes, give him a Big Bottle of BLEACH!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ah Cross-posted, BJ.
I did not know that about bleach vs borax........ all the home improvement shows talk about bleach... someone should tell them about Borax... (7 mule team lol )

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hello Ladies,
I am back home. When it rains it pours. I get here and Doug's mom is here crying her eyes out because it is getting really hard for her to take care of her mom. If she puts her in a home then HUD will take this house from us, plus his mom only gets $400 from SS and I don't think she will be able to afford where she lives. Then Doug's dad called yesterday wanting to know if I had found a place yet. He called this morning says to me "I will help with trying to buy a house and I told him that I am not making any plans until I know for sure what is wrong with my mom. He lives with a woman, and she is taking good care of him. But he doesn't like being told what he can and can not have or do. She is following his doctor's orders about what he can and can not have to eat. and he is mad because she won't let him have his fried bologna sandwich (YUCK). Doug loves them too eeeewwwww. ^_^. I told Doug I know we are going to end up living with my mom. He said that's ok just as long as we are together. I take mom for a consult on the 23rd, then we'll go from there. I am praying really hard that it is an ulcer and not cancer. She is losing weight, is always tired, always cold, sometimes she doesn't feel like eating, but she forces herself because of her hypogloxemia (spelling ??? )

Today my late hubby would have been 55. So Valentine's day is really hard on me. Doug is taking me to Cool Hand Luke's (without his Dad lol) for dinner.

Happy Valentine's Day Ladies hope your loves make your day special for you.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy, buy a big home for everyone, and open your own home for the elderly! Sorry to hear everyone is not doing well! Hope you get good answers from the Dr.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

BJ that's what colds are supposed to do but not for 10 days, I think you have allergies also. Blah!!!! Black Mold!!!!!!

(((((((((((((Cindy)))))))))))))))

I have a headache and it's about time to go home. I hope I beat Dave home so I can get the cake iced and his card and Giant Hershey Chocolate Bar out for him, and the sucker better have gotten me something or I will have a fit!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Afternoon sistahs.
Good to see that there are still some busy sistahs out there :D

BJ, thanks for the tip on Borax. Didn't know they're better than bleach for more porous substance.
I salute you for sucking it in and taking care of your Mum. I was never given that opportunity for my parents, but luckily, my other siblings stepped in.
But I had 'pay it forward' when I helped my ex' sister in taking care of their parents, right up to the very end. We never thought of the loss of quality time on our part, or the financial hardship it had cost us. To us, it got to be done and those folks had been more than angels to their kids.

Hmm... I can't say I'd do the same for current MIL. Forgive me Lord, but when FIL's gone, MIL is going straight to the nursing home or she has to hire a live in help!

Cindy, LK suggested a great thing there. Buy a big home and take in boarders.
Your mum's hypoglycemia's giving her those symptoms. Encourage her to eat even though it's just a hard candy.

Crissy, did Dave surprise you last night?

I'm disappearing for today.. taking LK's orders. Got fabric to sort and strips to cut. I sure don't want to beat Marion's record!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

So is that a challenge Jaye?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Look where I'm at, Maid M. Does that answer your question?
ROFL!!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh dear, guess I had better go get busy---busier, ,maybe?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Ooooo... a challenge.... I trust you both will keep us posted as to who's winning.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL so funny that you said that LK. I had told Doug I wished I could buy a mansion. I know the perfect one too, I used to clean it when I worked for Merry Maids, 10,000 square feet, 1st floor media room, master bed and bath/exercise room, the most awesome kitchen!!! the woman was Italian and loved to cook. Formal dinning room, formal living room, library, small one bedroom apt where the wife spent all of her time because the hubby worked in Los Altos, they own a security company. Huge mud room with a shower for the dogs, they have two huge long haired white dogs. Never saw them up close they were always penned up in the swimming pool area. Upstairs was 3 nice size bedrooms each with their own full bath, then there was a huge family room with half bath and kitchenett, huge storage room. The swimming pool are had a full kitchen and bar, man it was so cool, rose bushes planted every where all around the house, and lining both side of a circlur drive way. Yup it is perfect, but PRICEY!!!! Like in the 1 millions plus, lol. but it's not up for sale either just saying this was the perfect place for the whole family.

In a really down mood today. Just staying in bed and watching movies. I keep crying, and can't stop,Ii hate days like this, cuz i'm not a lazy person, but I just don't have it in me today. I really need my brother right now. He is not aware of just how bad my mom is. And when we go to visit I don't get much time alone with him. When mom has to use the bath room is the only time we are alone to talk, so we have to talk fast and I still don't get to tell him everything before mom returns from the bathroom.

I just wanted to share some up to date pics of Amy and Harlee, so I can try this new thing they have. Harlee is now 15 months and Amy is about 6 months.

LMAO Cindy what is up with that ear? Way cute!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy, can you mail him a letter, and explain everything?

There is a swap for jelly roll strips in sewing forum going on, come and join us!

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1242558/

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL I don't know she likes to be lazy with it. She can stand them up when she wants to. the other day when we took that walk to Hidden falls, when we were coming back up the hill there was a guy heading down. he had sunglasses and a hat on, and he was acting like Harlee was going to attack him. Harlee instantly sensed fear so she perked up her ears and started growling.

I meant to tell you all what happen yesterday. A couple of hours after i got home Doug's mom called said she needed help getting nanny off the floor. She was sitting in a chair, fell asleep and just slid right out of the chair. Well on top of that she has been giving Wandalee a bad time any ways. So we went over there, I picked her up put her in the bed. I did noticed she has lost some weight since she stay with us. Anyhow we were outside getting ready to leave, Doug and his mom were talking so i went back in the house to have a talk with nanny. Said to Hi Nanny how are, ok, asked her do you know who I am? yea, I told her "I want you to quit being so mean to Wandalee, and help when she is taking care of you" I said "If you don't be nice and help her take care of you, we are going to put you in a home" I asked her "Do you understand me?" yea, Doug just got off the phone with his mom, nanny has been a very good girl today, lol.

Nanny was a wild girl when she was young. She partied all the time, was big time alcoholic, has several tattoos. Had 17 kids and gave them all up for adoption. Wanda Lee is the oldest. Years go by not knowing her mom then one day Doug's dad (small town cop for a few years) stopped a drunk driver and it turned out to be nanny. So I guess the first time she met her mom was when she took her from jail. Then it became a regular thing for years. The old woman was blind and still driving her van until one day she finally wrecked. They took the van away, and she started getting so bad that is when Wanda lee moved her in with her and used this house for a storage for about three years until Doug came here from Kentucky in 2009.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yes LK I can, as a matter of fact I already have one drafted. But I keep crying so much I can't get it finished

goodness Cindy what a ride . no wonder you need a rest ! girl just stay in bed. YOu need some mental lazy day to get rested.
to funny on nanny .. guess you told her :)
well DD is not pregnant !! hooray . so relieved. I spoke to the Dr and get this.
so we are in the room. Well if you had just lied to your mom about being pregnant and the Dr was on his way into the room , don't you think you would confess ? i mean really ?
so Dr comes in. says well why are you here. she replies " i m pregnant. " . Dr says " we saw you last week and ran 3 test , so the chances are more likely your NOT pregnant "
so i asked some questions. I also told him she is bipolor , off meds ect... and also has POCS .
Then as we leave the Dr. i tell her " Jess , your not pregnant that is the reality. Sorry i know you were looking forward to a baby but it didn't happen " she got so mad at me ! wow. I said it nicely and with concern for her feelings. Her boyfriend is the one that understands ? go figure..
got him to the side also and asked " why are the both of you in such a hurry ? " you both have such long lives together . he seems to be the more logical one. I also talked about my concern as to why she wants to be pregnant. He has 4 kids already !! by two other women ... yea i know.
Tim came with me and it was a good thing.
so tha is my day
didn't do valentine day as i hate that day . honestly i hate it.
the only thing l like is chocolate is 1/ 2 price feb 15 LOLLLL

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Sue - I wonder if she wants to have a Baby so she doesn't feel like she's in competition with his "other mothers of his kids"?

three reason she wants a baby
1. to spite me
2. create choas
3. so people focus on her.
she loves when the world focuses on here. She has been like that since she was 5 yrs old. ITs a no win situation .
if no one is focused on her then she creates chaos. so people have to stop what they are doing and focus on her.
Yes there is no logic. You can say don't focus on her but she will find a way to make your life so miserable that you have to focus on her.
good night friends
sleep well
sue

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Good night, Sue, and God Bless you.......

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I may be winning on the tardiness, BJ!!
Got my fabrics sorted, but not cut!! Instead of sticking to one project, I decided to organize the dvds. Just can't stand the way Kel lines up our dvds, not categorizing them.
Then he has this habit of putting his favorites on the lower shelves, while my classics are waaaaaaaay on the top shelf. What is he thinking??? I need a step ladder to get to them!!!!

Cindy, Doug's family sure needs you! You got a lot on your hands, with your mum, and are you sure you'd be able to help Doug's father and maybe Nanny if Wanda Lee can't do anymore?
But God, being ever so merciful, won't give you more than you can handle.
Your dogs KNOW they're spoilt by the way they look into your camera!! Lololol!!

Aww Sue. Seems your DD and my MIL are so similar. MIL would create dramas when she's not getting any attention.

I agree with Susan. She might want to get pregnant, not only to spite you, but to ensure her bf's primary focus is on her alone!!
There was this girl at work who intentionally got pregnant, because she's jealous of her bf's relationship with his kids.

Anyway, prayers are said for all tonight.
Rest well in Him, sistahs.
Good night.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - re: Sue's DD - you "hit the nail right on the head" as far as my meaning. People have the oddest reason for doing things!

When I was in my teens, I met a girl who "was pregnant for 11 months" ?!?! Her Dr couldn't decide if she was/wasn't.....
Anyway, she was 17, and bf was gone. As her mom was very ill, the girl decided "if my mom passes, I want to keep the baby so something will love me" Because she'd miss her mom, she thought the baby would fill the void. Little did she know that She'd be the mom and would have to love the baby, Not the other way around LOL
Silly girl........

Susan i agree with that . girls forget you have to love the baby too ?
i know she wants a baby so she doesn't have to do anything cuz it will give her an excuse why she can't work or go to school.
oh well it is what it is.
no good news on the work front for Tim. * sigh . * i m very nervous ! we are finished with two savings and the we are toast.
have a good day you all

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good morning everyone!!

Sue that's tough, big big big hugs!!!!!! I completely understand your money issues, iye yey yey!!!

Jaye you did hit it right on the head.

Well I'm busy just wanted to drop by for a minute!
