Look at what I got greeting me this morning!!!! Daffodil!!! Well, one of a row, but I 'heart' this single shot!
Good day sisters!
*** Sweet Interruptions # 234 ***
Beautiful blooms Jaye!
Happy Hump Day Ladies,
Our weather has been so crazy my plants don't know what to think!!! I had 3 Brugs, two planted in the ground, the other in a large pot. The one in the pot got white flies back in the late summer so I cut it back. It then grew like gang busters but never bloomed, so I just left it. Well we had two days that it froze, of course the top of the plants froze. I was outside yesterday and noticed new growth at the base of the plant, wheeee!!! Question.....should I start giving it fertilizer??? I checked the farmer's almanac and it said that starting about Mid March we will start getting a lot of rain and it will continue thru May. Our temps are way above normal so I don't think we will have anymore freezing.
Oh lol I just noticed that you can post 5 pics now instead of one at a time. How cool!!!
Indeed LK. At least I do have a bloom this year!
How are you sistah? Did Heather got 90% of what she needs for Dylan Marley? Kel loves that name cos he loves them 2 singers too.
Let me know what's lacking, I would love to send her something.
Sistahs, this good news I have MUST be shared.
Most of you know that I have bad neurapathy, due to poor circulation in my feet. This has affected my activity that involves walking or driving. 5 minutes of walking... 30 minutes of rest :( With a cane, extend that to another 5.
If driving.. the most is 30 minutes.
Some nights, I'd be screaming in pain and if Kel's home, he would massage the soles where the throbbing pain feel like knives cutting into them. Lyrica doesn't help. And if Kel's not around, only way to relieve the pain is to make sure my feet are flat on the floor.
So, you all can guess, that some nights I stayed up in pain.
It's so exasperating when you can't do simple normal long walks or just stroll in the mall!
Sometimes I feel like a zero when Kel is forced to slow down because of me.. just like this past Saturday at Tangiers. Few walking steps.. then lean against him or against a wall. Just to ease the pain.
So most of the time, if it's not Walmart shopping, I'll just wait in the vehicle for him.
Sunday, bad repercussion from that Saturday stroll. Hurt all day. I can tell you that my second fridge looks like a mini pharmacy, and nothing can stop the pain.
That continued till Monday....
Bless her heart. Synda had surprised me with this Shiatsu Foot Massager. When Kel brought the box to me, I was on the phone with her.
Instantly I plugged it, and SISTERS.... it's better than SEX!!!! (hope I don't get fussed by admin, as that's the only way I can describe the feeling)
The pain went away after a few minutes, and I didn't even turn on the heat!!
The GOOD news is....not only did I enjoy walking and working around the house, but I slept well for 2 whole nights!! This morning, I felt some pain and knowing we're about to do some WM shopping, I used the massager for a few minutes.
I didn't use the electric wheel chair today!!! Walked through more aisles, and it's so good to be able to push a buggy and NOT having to depend on Kel. Actually that's another blessing, as he'd add more junk to the buggy!!
Thank you, thank you Synda. Those deep massages my feet get from the rotating balls are totally miracle workers.
So that's the good news sistahs. I feel like I've won a million dollars!!!
Cindy, we cross posted.
When the ground has warmed up a bit, then, yes, you may give it a shot of fertilizer. Lots of rain will be good, as brugs are ever thirsty!
WOW I need one of those things!!! I deep cleaned the kitchen yesterday. I started at 830 finally quit at 130. I had up down on a step stool and boy my left foot got to hurting so BAD!!! I had to prop it up and take a super duper pain pill.
Jaye our temps are in the low to mid 60's everyday. Tomorrow it is going to be 67!!! What about the Brug in the big pot?? Think I could fertilize it now, I don't think the dirt is that cold???
Since it's starting to wake up, and shows signs of new growth, I don't see why not, Cindy.
Our nights are in the low 40s here, but the days can shoot up to the 70s. Haven't woke up my brugs yet.. just the some vines.
Jaye, that's incredible news... Synda is such a good friend to you... I know you'll get better and better now that you know the secret to your pain relief. So, I'm thinking that maybe a whirl pool bath for your feet before bedtime might help too.
Winter has been very mild here this year... I don't trust the weather enough to start anything in the garden yet. I think we'll still get some freeze snaps. So, my veggies might be late this year.
Jaye, that is wonderful news to hear about your feet and no pain! Thank you Synda for your great generosity! Jaye, have you tried the hot wax pots. They are made for hands, but I use them on my feet too! It feels so good!
Cindy, if you have new growth, it will not hurt to fertilize the brugs, just dilute it a bit. Don't want to burn the new growth.
Meant to tell you Jaye, she needs a few burp cloths, and baby washcloths. She has just about everything else. Thanks!
OMG Jaye I am sooooo glad Synda sent you that, what a relief!!! Way Awesome!
Cindy I'd be careful believing the Farmer's Almanac, it used to be way way accurate but not so much anymore. It said the southern region was going to get just as much precipitation as last year but more freezing rain instead of snow. We have received 5" of rain this whole winter and it has not froze hardly at all, and we have seen absolutely no frozen precipitation at all except for a dusting of snow in November. Last year by this time the winter precipitation totaled over 3' of snow, Arkansas normally gets 6" of snow a year.
I don't trust the weather enough to plant anything either. I know CA has more stable temps, I miss stable temps, but there is always a freeze in late Feb. into mid March, so be careful Cindy, just cause it's warm now doesn't mean that it's going to stay that way.
Thanks for tips ladies,
I must begin my search for a rental house big time!!! Doug's dad gave $600, to help with getting a place, plus he told me that he has more for whatever we will need to get a place so now to find what we need. I told him we wanted to buy, he said so let's do that then. I told him no, I want to save up for a nice down payment to keep the house payments low. And also I know that renting he will have a say in some of the things that go on, but if we (Doug and I) buy then he won't have a say.
Can you use the massager on other parts of your body too ??? ....... i may need one.
so glad you got some relief Jaye ! hallejua praise be . Thank you synda for such a lovely gift for jaye. bless your heart.
i wonder how Cookie is doing ? if she is back from her vacation with her dad.
i may call her tonight
i will give her all your loves and hugs
not much going on here today
just laundry
Good luck house hunting Cindy!
Sue, LOL, at the other body parts in the foot massager!
Our front loader went out last Christmas, 2010. It was only 4 years old. We had a washer repairman come out and he quoted me a price that blew me away. It was cheaper to just buy a new washer. Can't remember what he said went out, but he did say that they just don't last as long because of the vertical tumbler vs the horizontal agitation. Ours were a stack-able, dryer on top. So, we had to buy a new set for the dryer to fit on top again. After the state rebates, we only spent about $100 more than the repair bill on the other one... and got a much better set.
Cindy... is this the same man that made a fool of himself at the restaurant last week? What are you thinking?
Hot wax pads... I'll have to try that LK.
Whirling jets for the feet sounds good, BJ.
Sue, this brand even make back massagers with the balls, not the vibrating kind. The balls truly knead deep into your flesh, and that's what my feet need.
Kel's not here, if not he may be able to answer your issues of your front loader. There's one brand he won't mess with if it's a front loader, and that's Maytag.
Some of the parts for any appliances have soared so ridiculously high that BJ is right. You're better off buying a new one.
Am lucky so far, no problems with my Samsung front loader.
Yes, I am indeed blessed. Someone has brought this to my attention.. here are some sistahs that haven't met me and care so deeply for me.. and there's my MIL that the town knew well and avoid her at all cost..
Thank you Lord for my sistahs.
Power Prayer Time!!! WBB!!
Forgot to mention, that along with the pain, I'd be losing my balance too.
When you saw me BJ, it was only my right leg. Then with time, the neurapathy got worse and affected the other leg.
For Cookie's reunion, I had to pack a cane! Thank God there were rides available at the terminals to the departure gates!!
Now, I'm walking with confidence. Praise God.
Good night sistahs.. sleep well.
Praise God!
Sleep tight everyone!
Back home again after spending a week with Mom and celebrating her birthday. Long drive today and extremely tired.
Wonderful news Jaye!!
Will check back but it is off to bed--oh how I missed my very own bed!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Glad your back home Marion! Hope your Mom had a good celebration?
I have a Whirlpool Select front loader washer, one of those big ones, and I got an error like that on it about 2 years ago, called the repair man and he pulled the plate off of the bottom of the washer, below the door, and there was one of my nylons stuck in the drain pipe. He pulled that out and it was fine. Maybe something simple like that Sue. Outside of that I've never had a problem and it's 4 1/2 years old. Works like a charm.
BJ glad you didn't have to shell out a lot of money. I remember when appliances would last 20 years, the life expectancy of a washer is 5 years and a refrigerator only lasts between 7-11 years. It's horrible that we spend thousands of dollars on this stuff to have it go kapoot in such a short time. I think it's a scam lol!
Marion glad you got there and back safely, and hope your mom enjoyed her birthday!
Happy to see you home Marion. Pics of the b'day if you can please.
Now that's an impossible request, for Marion doesn't tote a camera!!
Sue, Kel says you're doing the right thing by checking online. And Crissy's lucky to get an honest repair man.
A week ago, my microwave gave out an error mode "F3". Kel went online, and followed the instructions of that model. He had to remove the control panel and blow dry gently the wires behind it!!
I had something cooking for hours on the stove, didn't use the vent, and the moisture had seeped through the control panel!
My thighs and hips are aching this morning!!!! They're muscle aches as they've not been used for a long, long, time!!! I've been moving pre 2010!!!! Hallelujah!!
The circulatory issue is still there. Feeling of numbness won't go away, but I now enjoy the freedom of walking for much longer!!!
SURPRISE Miz Jaye!!! I had the camera this time so I will download the pictures I managed to get so you can see.
So happy to hear you are feeling better and moving. I have the "slows" today!
Shoot Jaye, I'm lucky to get a repair man period, it's tough living out in the sticks. He didn't charge for the call either, said he was going to write it off like I called him and cancelled the order and he never came out. OMG Jaye that's good to know, we never use the vent and the microwave is one of those built in with the exhaust fan. I'm so glad you can walk again, that is way way awesome!
I'm delightfully pleasantly surprised Maid M!!!
(Pssst... do you have the instructions as how to download? Jez wonderin')
Take your time. Rest as it's been one long emotional trip for you.
My butt will still be here :D
ROFLOL yes, I do have instructions and will definitely download. I have to get ready to go to Bainbridge this afternoon. Kim is treating me to a Mexican dinner--early Valentine's gift.
Our microwave is an over the stove, so the exhaust vent system is via the microwave. I don't like to turn it on, as it's loud!!
Taught me to put up with the sound after that!! Lol!
That's so sweet of Kim.
For the first time since we've been together.. Kel got me a Valentine present.
Yesterday he got me a turn table, so I could enjoy my old classic 33s!!!
Nope.. no TRADESD required ;) That's the BEST part!! Lol!!!
ETA: Crissy, just to answer a housecall, the repair man in these towns charges from 50 - 70. And that's not adding the repairs!! Kel doesn't do housecalls, he rather the appliance be brought to the shop.
The most he ever charge for a repair, minus the cost of parts is 50. Sometimes, depending on the client's circumstance, and if he can find used parts, he won't charge at all.
That's why we can't get rich!!

Jaye the problem here is, companies won't drive out of city limits, I'm 20 miles outside of the closest city limits so even getting a repair man to the house is almost impossible, and taking it somewhere, no one will do that. There is one company in all of Arkansas that will come to my house, if they go out of business I'm screwed.
He should be charging something, my goodness!!! Everyone's time is worth something (you would not imagine how many times I have had to drill that one into Dave's head, he doesn't like charging people enough to do their lawns and yard maintenance, he will charge them the exact dollar amount to cover the gas for the mower, weedeater, and blower. That's why he had to go get a 'real job.'
It's much better that good folks like Dave and Kel get a real paying job!!! They are too gullible.
Lolol!! We'll be eating beans, Crissy!!
Kel turned down housecalls as at one time, he was busy with the shop. Those that are willing to bring their appliances to him, are always satisfied with his service. He guarantees his work.
There's this guy we know, that do housecalls and I feel sorry for the folks that are not aware of Kel or needed their appliance running immediately.
One day, he got a call to check a freezer. When he looked into the freezer, he told the client that he doesn't fix freezers!! And he knew it was for a freezer!
Poor guy still had to shell out $50 just for coming over to the house.
Yep i found a site that gives simple repair instructions and guess what !! Tim got it fixed.
crissy was right . it was a clogged drain thingy. took 15 min . i saw how tim did it and its so simple even i can do it !! GIT R DUN GIRLS
wow is it cold today brrrrrr low 30's and no sun brrrrr.
tomorrow is hair day
then i go at 1 pm to find out if i m a grandmother...... *sigh* ...... i think i need another twinkie.
Good job Tim.
No Twinkie Sue. It stays on your hips. Fix you a hot cup of Chamomile tea.
Twinkies is going out of business, soon they will be gone!
Glad you got your machine fixed Sue!
Don't tell me that LK!!
That's doom for those that turn to Twinkies when they need emotional relief?
Oh dear, what is my ex' niece going to do. She's a Twinkies junkie.
I think I better send her a condolence card!!
Morning sistahs. NOT being lazy today. Still moved around with ease. This should help my sugar level right? Nope.. have been indulging on Jelly Beans while working!! Lololol.
Will be missing this afternoon. Errands to run... taxes to pay. Yessir.. I'll be enjoying the errands!!
Have a fantastic day sistahs.
Yep, it was on the news a week or so. No more hostess twinkies.
http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20120127-709790.html
LOL Sue!!! So happy you looked that up!!
Did Hostess file Chap 11 or Chap 13? I don't have time at the moment to look at the link.
LK, they're not going to quit... they've applied to the bankruptcy court to borrow $75 million from a private lender who helps companies restructure. That's all they're doing, restructuring their debts so they can continue operations. I'm among the millions who are addicted to Twinkies... if they quit making them, they're going to have to offer a 12 step program for most of the population.
Ok I looked it up, they filed Chapter 11, that's restructuring. Hostess is tanking for two reasons, there are companies who offer knockoff's of the same thing for cheaper, and 2. more people are watching what they eat and not eating these types of foods anymore.
http://online.wsj.com/article/AP77fea05596234df88db14ee0d901e114.html
Well I'm not a Twinkies fan.. but.. sometimes I'll be grabbing those chocolate "Donettes". You know those mini ones. I'll ration 2 per meal, so it's not too bad on the sugar.
It rained on my parade!! So I ended up waiting in the truck for fear of losing my balance trying to avoid the rain. Nope, didn't bring along an umbrella. Blame it on the weatherman.
I don't care how bad they are for me... they're comfort food, and we both have one (at least) every day (almost)
Speaking of comfort, it's so good to know you've found a key to keeping moving, Jaye. What a blessing.
Waiting to see pics of Marion's mom's birthday... I'm going to guess she did not want a pirate theme... am I right?
I found something today, and don't know how I got along without it for so long. Today is day 5 of this crud. Cold and Flu meds help some, but none of them help enough for me to get more than 4-5 hours sleep at night. Plus the meds keep me groggy, and dead headed all day. So, today I haven't had any meds... was just going to tough it out. I had errands to do that I've put off all week, and I didn't feel safe driving with those meds in me. One of my stops was Walmart, and found a Neti Pot to rinse my sinus', because the pressure behind my nose, eyes and ears was really bad. Came home and boiled some water so I didn't get one of those little bacterias that will eat my brain. So, when it cooled, I used the Neti Pot. WOW... it was like instant relief. I didn't watch what was coming out, but I could feel the pressure release as I was pouring. With all the sinus issues I've had over the years, I wonder how I got by without one.
Good evening ladies, hope everyone had a great day.
