can't wait to meet up with you this May...
She's about to... 64... Spring time is coming...
Where is the HOOK UP In MAY ???? TY Deb how tall do the japanese MG Get ????
Debra and her Sister are driving to Texas. I am going to meet them in San Antonio for some fun! Come on down Susie!
japanese morning glory do not get as long and crazy as a regular ipomoea purpurea .... those purps can eat anything they can get too, where a japanese morning glory can be trained and controlled more.. that is my experience anyway..6 to 8 ft normally on japanese i nil, up to almost 20 on a rampant i purp is my experience.. I have had them climb a tall elm tree and bloom on the branches..japanese i nils can be kept on a trellis or even in pots with things to climb on.. i purps are smaller, i nils are very big bloomers..
the last picture you can see the big blue against the smaller morning glorys.. the others are all japanese morning glorys., and then.. there are the special species morning glorys from around the world.. oh dear, do not get me started.. see ya all tommorrow..
Love those blooms!
oh how pretty love to try them i had a JM last summer that got up about 3 in tall that was it but it did get a small bloom on it .
that is why i asked . well off to feed & water .
Yes, I would love some! Does anyone have seed for the Rose Silk....I thought I was planting them last year and they turned out to be G'pa Ott. This G'pa Ott was a volunteer that grew up my porch rail....it's a mystery how it got there as there was no house here last year! The Rose Silk is a larger bloom and I didn't get any seeds saved before I moved....well, I did...that's how I got G
pa...I thought I was saving Rose Silk.....they were growing near each other. Jo
Jo - the one on the right looks like the I. nil chocolate. I picked up some in the round robin and some yellow (?!) I think also!
I'm hungry. Can't talk. Ha hah ah - have a great day everybody.
xox
A.
Now....how did that happen....I know us old folks have a way of repeating ourselves...but to post the same thing twice??? LOL Jo
Jo, that's what I call a DG hiccup...lol I have a pack of 10 seeds marked Dusty-Mauve Silk Rose I'll share with you. Don't know if that's the same one you're looking for though.
I agree, hers looks like choclate silk like Amanda said.. but the rose silk is a little more " rosier" LOL and the i purp she showed does look like gpa ott. too , but what do I know, I just poke a seed into a spot of soil and it grows into who knows what?
This flower came from a seed from Fruity last year..
Keep educating me, Debra. And right back at cha with one I grew in a hanging basket last year from seeds you shared with me. I'd never noticed that I. purps have small blooms and I. nils have big ones until you mentioned the differences. Thanks for another duh huh moment.
Jo, I read an article last year in one of my gardening magazines that said MG seeds are viable for years. Perhaps your volunteer G'pa Ott (or G'ma Ott) turned up when the crews were getting the property ready for your new home. Just a thought, but again what do I know? As you can tell, not much.
I havn't quite figured out what these are.. I THHINK they are ornamental pepper plants..( 1st picture) second is the salvia I have been trimming on to make a tree form ..( behind the duck) then here is the first set of water bottle planters I have in the south bedroom window..and then a HI MOM! for Susan..and a night shot of the brug room..
Debra, do you ever sleep? Love those pictures! Your plants sure look healthy!
Hi Y'all, finally got my puter back from the dr. Seems that it gets sick twice a year. With Hans, Snese, Ray and me and the computer, I am always in a doctors office. I'm now using the laptop which I put off connecting, thinking I would have PC back sooner.
Debra, how do you always have such pretty blooms?
Ray is still doing great and will see his last Dr. Mon. AM
Here's wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's Day.
Did any of you ever get a surprise Valentine's Gift in the mail? I did, yesterday. You cannot imagine my surprise and better than that, the love I felt for and from the sender. Some friends are so special and thoughtful, and I have meet them right here. Big thank you and hugs to you my friend.
Faye
Glad to hear Ray is doing well! Give him gentle hugs from us please?
Happy Valentines day!
Faye so glad things are going well, you both deserve it.
Really really cold here, I have surprise lilies up and daffs, somethings I am not sure of, gheez, all this warmth and now single digits. Sun is shining for now, but they are saying we are going to get snow and freezing pellets on Sunday and all day Monday....yuck!
Faye, that's such great news and really hope Ray gets a good report tomorrow. You know how much I love ya'll.
Thanks for the HI MOM pic, Debra. Wow, your Polly is growing gangbusters. My postmaster's wife works for a wholesale greenhouse operation and when I mailed a few packages last week, he was bragging about something like 500 Oxalis plants she's been babying that are now ready for the market. He showed me one he brought to work blooming it's little head off that had all green leaves, it was perky and so healthy.
When I dug in my seed bin Saturday, I found a new pack of small baggies and immediately divided the Japanese Morning Glory Seeds I have for those of you who requested them, and made packs for a couple of you who didn't ask for them but know they're among your favorite vines. A lot of the varieties I only had 6-8 seeds and did my best divvying them up and keeping one or two for me. I hope none of you will be disappointed with the seeds you receive. And I want to see pics of them next Summer!

Home with a migraine today, good thing, tho, with so much snow and cold..
Please let us know how your Dear Rays Dr visit went today Faye.
Sorry about your migraine Debra, they are no fun! Hope it goes away soon.
Sorry to say they didn't, Susie. Maybe they were too young or didn't like the trip, although they really did look good when they arrived. I'm sure we'll trade later on and would like to have another try of Purple Cotton. Thought that was especially unusual. I still have a few Canna seeds in the fridge if you'd like for me to add them to your envy of Japanese MG seeds. I'm leaning toward planting my old Canna garden this year with Sunflowers and other self-seeding annuals.
SIL #2 suffers from migraines, Debra. She says she can tell when one is about to hit. Can you? Feel better soon, sweetie.
My lone Lenten Rose that Darius gave me last year is blooming. Several tulips are budding and a couple of the grape hyacinths started to bloom but were bitten by frost.
Anxiously waiting to hear how Ray's appointment went today, Faye.
Hi Y'all, thank you for asking about Ray. The Dr. said he was amaized at how well Ray's back healed from surgery. That was his Kidney Dr. and the procedure for removing the stone & stint still has to be scheduled.
I've been painting today & yesterday. I'm painting for an orginazation called "Rebuilding Hope" It is a Christian orgination that rebuilds houses and gives away used furniture to needy people. The furniture is all donated from anyone having something they no longer want or need. All workers are volintears and no one gets paid for anything. The main goal is to witness and win souls to Christ. I was painting inside an old double wide that was used for a School Room. Rebuilding Hope gutted it and is making it into a home for an elderly lady who has almost nothing. When finished, it will be delivered and all hookups done at no cost to the lady. I am so glad I can be a part of this. Ray goes each Fri., unless he is sick to help out with the witnessing and filling out forms and giving away furniture.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Great news on Ray !!! Been painting too, although not for such a good cause. I'm doing a lot better at it. More patient then I ever was and the end result is a lot better. Faye is my painting hero. :))
Faye, check the Birthday club thread please?

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready! What are you all doing this week-end?

during the winds & winter weather :)
as for the stones i had jim get me some Quickset concrete put on my mask measure out what i need add my water mix & pour into my molds I bought at our local craft store for about $4. got the heart & clover one.
then for smaller ones i use a allumiun cake pan .
sorry gotta go back later
Faye so glad to hear the good news. When I retire I am going to volunteer alot more than I do now. Would love to work with habit for humanity. Course I am sure DH thinks I should volunteer alot more around here...rolf.
So pretty deejay. Wow those are impressive. I love working with concrete, this summer with our master gardeners I am going to have a class on casting elephant ears.
I am taking a pottery class and got my first thing glazed and fired. I am enjoying it but don't know that I have a natural talent, that remains to be seen. Course it is hard to judge, in the beginner class I was the only beginner.....so I really don't know how I am doing. Right now before I try to trim the bottom I have a really nice bowl...rofl, triming the bottom is a problem for me, I have destroyed 3 things trying to do the bottoms. The clay is really inexpensive if I could just get something to come out...rofl. Would love to be able to make mugs and vases.
Happ good luck on the pottery. I did it for years. Never could get the knack of the wheel and prefer to do handbuilt items now. Never have the time anymore and I think all my clay is hard as a brick. Finally sold my wheel last year or so because it was just in the way. Pottery was the only thing so far artwise that I never felt competent at. I wanna see what you made when it gets fired. I bet it is fine!
Debra, I am sure you wouldn't want a head planter I made, rol....it would be nightmarish worse than a gargole....rolf. That is if it kept standing. I bet you have one of the best smelling basements in the midwest....rofl.
Tonight is class and I am exhausted. I have made a bud vase and I will glaze it tonight. It did survive the firing..rofl. I made the bottom heavy because I am tired of the vases that fall over, especially if I am driving to work. Course none of my clay stuff is very thin...rofl. so that is the excuse I gave for the bud vase weighing so much...rofl.
Planting Frenzy has started… February 20, 2012 my blog:
Today I planted some poppy seeds from Lazlo and some Cherokee tomato seeds in two milk jugs and sprinkled candy tuft and Indian physic in some of the planters, planted holly hocks in southwest barrel and along south fence, spread more poppy seeds on lilly garden out back, still have never had a poppy bloom from all the millions of seeds I have planted. I checked all the rose of Sharon, crepe myrtle’s and lilac cuttings and shrubs I put out last fall and they are all rooted and doing fine. The monarda is coming up outside. So is the Helens flower and all the bulbs. I sprinkled two huge jars of pepper all over around the pear tree, in all pots and the front pots and triangle, and all garden areas where there might be bulbs popping up since the squirrels have been chewing the tops up and digging them up will see what happens. Planting the daffodils did not keep them from mesing with the tulips and hiyacnths.
I already have so many water bottle planters full of seeds and vines, I have planted at least two of every morning glory seed I own. I planted a travelers palm seed, and some kiwi seeds and the kiwi seeds sprouted.I planted ghost pepper seeds the other night. the popcorn cassia is sprouted. snap peas are up and vining in the windows. tomatoe plants from 2 years ago seeds i saved are up, true leaves and ready to transplant into small pots. will sprinkle impatiens and coleus tonight in a few more jug planters. I need to find my petunia seeds, they are somewhere around here, but still have the plants i grew from seed last year hanging out in the basement. three butterfly ginger plants i grew from seeds are now divided up into separate cups for swaps, and I am ready to cut back the hibiscus again. The little bublets from the tiger lillys i kept in the fridge were rooted so I put them in a 6 pack downstairs.
Susie I mailed your package out yesterday.. if I forgot some seeds you wanted please let me know, I have been bagging up seeds like crazy.
the jewel of opar plant is in full bloom downstairs and setting seed pods. all of the morning glorys that have been blooming are setting seeds. I don't get it. must be some gnats down there that havn't been caught in the tapes I have everywhere. I have blooms on the super cayene pepper and small peppers on it again, it is the size of a small tree now. I have small green bells on another pepper plant i kept going and a ton of flowers and peppers on the ornamental black pearl pepper. it is all good. If I could make something and actually use it for stepping stones or a flower pot holder out of clay I would prolly be into that. everything I put outside gets crumbled from the usage.
Wow! You sure have a full room of things growing!
Hi everyone. Haven't read anything here since my last post. Boy do things change fast. Ray has just gotton home from another Emergency stay at the Hospital. EMT took him in last Fri. AM @ 4:30 and I got him home last night. The Stint that was in his Kidney had caused infection and the infection again had spread into his bloodstream. Sun. while at the Hospital Ray's Kidney shut down and his bowels blocked. On Mon. he was transported from Mariah Parham to Wake Med. in Raleigh so a Surgeon there could go from Ray's back and put a tube into the Kidney to drain the fluid build up. While in surgery, Ray's breathing got to be a concern for the Surgeon so off to the Emergency Room to spend the remainder of the day. The XRay that was done sowed that the Surgeon hadn't punctured Ray's lung. The Dr. told me why he wanted the XRay only after he had seen the results. Then on Tues. afternoon the bowels finally decided to work...first time since the past Fri. There is so much more but this let's you know why I haven't been here.
Will try to catch up asap.
Love & Hugs
Faye
