LOVE potato leek soup

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Victor ---- did you call your wife WIDE (grin)

If I eat too much potato soup that is what I get. My mom made the best.

tonight spaghetti squash stuffed with chop meat and tomato sauce and cheese. Never made it but I got an idea how to approach.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

This one is very easy.....

STUFFED SPAGHETTI SQUASH
1 spaghetti squash (1 1/2 lbs.)
2 tsp. olive oil
1/2 c. diced onion and red pepper
1 garlic clove
8 oz. ground veal, or any meat
1 c. canned whole tomatoes, chopped
1/4 tsp. oregano
Dash salt and pepper
2 oz. shredded Mozzarella or Cheddar cheese
1 tbsp. chopped Italian parsley

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Using fork pierce squash; place whole squash on baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. Reduce to 350 degrees.

Cut squash in half lengthwise, remove and discard seeds. Scoop out pulp, reserve shells. Set both aside.

In skillet heat oil, add onion, red pepper and garlic. Saute until onion is translucent. Stir in ground meat, saute until meat is no longer pink, add tomatoes, seasonings and reserved squash pulp and cook, stir occasionally until liquid is absorbed. Spoon half of mixture into a shell.

Place shells in baking dish(s) and bake 20 minutes. Sprinkle cheese on each one and then broil until melted and browned. Serve with sprinkled parsley.

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

hey thanks pixie

already in oven as I read this. I halved it and then brushed with olive oil and put cut side down to roast.

but I will keep the rest in mind - would not have thought of the post stuff broil.

and would not have thought of veal either - but chopped meat (beef) and I really dislike ground beef so this is a great recipe.

Thomaston, CT

Had Szchuan chicken at the shopping outlet today.....quite tasty.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

The former chef at the WH says Clinton had a mammoth appetite. Would eat six pork chops and half a cake! Luckily for him, he heeded the wakeup call of his bypass. Many do not.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I almost physically ran into him coming out of a bookstore at a DC airport.

Rice, black beans, seasoned ground beef, corn, salsa and shredded cheese layered. More everything, little beef and cheese.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

He would have leveled you, Deb!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

He would have loved it

Had baked chicken legs, cheesy rice for me, mashed potatoes for the kids and green beans

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - his large appetite was not only for food!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

so Jen, is rice better than potatos for you glueten allergy?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

either/or for the gluten thing, sweet potaotes are better for you in general

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The maker of Twinkies is going bankrupt. What do we do now?!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

oh no!!!!! Stock up now they'll last forever anyway

You would have every cop on your side!

Gonna try something different tomorrow night. Cube fried steaks. Reg cube steaks pound them down. Its the ingredients. flower, baking powder, baking soda, pepper & salt, buttermilk, tobasco sauce, garlic and veggie shortening for deep frying.

The kicker is a double dredge in the flower. I bet they are going to be poofy.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

I had heard that about the twinkies maker.

I hope they dont go under as they do the Wonder Bread !!!!

Thomaston, CT

Sherrie, sounds like Texas fried chicken steak....you need cream gravy for them.....

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I have no idea what I'm making....

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Going out to eat w/DH & DS @ a new Steak House that opened in town. ^_^

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

mmmm......STEAK

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Made pasta with (hot) turkey sausage and broccoli in chicken broth. Some garlic, onion, basil and parsley. Was great.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

That sounds delish

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Never liked twinkies...tastykake for us!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Twinkles were too sweet. Loved Yodels.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Ronnie, wasn't Tastykake having problems too??? I make a cake that tastes EXACTLY like Kandy Kakes

I LOVED Big Wheels(another wonder bread product) we had a Wonder Bread factory about 5 mins from us growing up they had the BEST bargains
I liked Chocodials too, esp when you froze them...YUM....not that I can eat any of that now :(

I want to find an ingredient list from the 70's and compare it to the ingredients now. cause, you know, they just don't taste the same...and now maybe people are realizing that that stuff is just not good for you

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Little Debbie Swiss cake rolls
