OK Debbie drool. drool! My tummy felt like it wanted food but my mouth sure didn't. Clam chowder is one of my very favourites!!

Mouth sure throbbed when the freezing came out but after some meds it is fine. The sorest part is the gum area as Doc had to cut some tissue away. He didn't want to stitch it as he is away until late January so he cauterized it. All I will say is OUCH! Just hate feeling high heat by the area Doc was working on and then watching and smelling smoke coming out of my mouth. Just so happy to have mu tooth back in, maybe I will smile a bit more now.

Mary the Doodle Art is on Poster Paper not velvet. But you do colour in everything. The Fairy one is great fun - both of us are loving it. It makesa me feel calm believe it or not and I get to 'colour' which I have always loved. After Santa Warren gave me this poster to do I went online to Amazon and found a couple of interesting ones to do there. Sure wish there was one with motorcycles on it. One that I ordered was posters of movies from the 40'5 and 50's. These are only about 12" x 14" but are really neat. I ordered from Amazon late Wed night and it arrived at our doorstep this morning. Great service. Also got a Harry Connick Christmas CD for $5.00 - what a deal!!

Barb how are you feeling tonight? You sure have had a lot thrown at you all at once. Huge hugs to you sweet lady.

Santa Warren needs me, he is having trouble breathing again. Hope to BBL
Dianne
Make sure you all do something nice for yourself tomorow ladies.

OMG... You just wrecked my computer.... it's COVERED with Drool !

I LOVE Mushrooms! I LOVE blue cheese! I LOVE Prime RiB!

What a wonderful day and so so well deserved.... :o)

We both had a tough day at work... I can't believe the stress they have us under... so close to the holidays...
But TGIF... now have the weekend and Hubs does NOT have to work this weekend....

We just have a few gifts to grab and we're done....
I am very excited to say... my DS19 got his hair cut today all on his own... and shaved... he was getting a bit hairy for a while... He earned some $ with Hubs and I paid him for some home chores....

I want to cook tomorrow... maybe a chuck roast ?

Oh Dianne -
Wow - was that a Root Canal ? I almost needed one... but thankfully not yet....
I do love Amazon too..
Since Bev gave me the Puzzle idea.. I found a "Rock N Roll" over theyears puzzle.. ordered it and will be a gift from me to the Family...
I've had really great experience with Amazon.. almost ordered everything from them this year...
Is it Warren that loves motorcycles ?
Please Lord Help Warren with the breathing tonight.... Please let Dianne get some sleep !

((HUGS))
Mary

Verona, ON

Yes Mary it was a root canal. The first 30 min Doc thought he might not be able to do it and I would have to go to a specialists. My tummy and heart were doing flip flops. I have utmost trust in Doc's ability and he proved why I do..... he was able to find the canal after some messing around.Wish DH and I were joining Doc and his DW they leave for a 2 week cruise to Hawaii this week.

Santa Warren loves motorcycles as do I. We both miss not having a bike. When we bought the Tang I told him it was an either or situation NOT both.lol

Thinking maybe I need some Heart Attack Shortbread cookies right. They melt in your mouth so no chewing is required. I'll share - who wants some?
D

Baton Rouge, LA

Oh Dianne - Yes - please pass some cookies this way ! (And the recipe too !)

I LOVE Mustangs! I "inherited" the family car..... a '67 Cougar ....when I was a Senior in High School 900 years ago....
They are very similar... so Mustangs always near and dear....

Yawning... headed to bed... ((HUGS)) all....

Verona, ON

I'll Dmail you the recipe in the am. Sweet dreams!

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Dianne that sounds so good, would go nice with my tea! is it a simple recipe? You know I am NOT betty crocker...but I try! I ususally wear 1/2 of everything the recipe calls for.

I have never made clam chowder from "scratch" but I think I will have too. I have just been so into soups lately...and strange concoctions of them! I would love the broccoli cheese but with the blood thinners...I can't have too much green veggies. Sigh. It has some kind of counter action with the meds.

Well, it is midnight, the boys are playing XBox....and sleeping on the sofa bed. Shanes friend Kyle....who lived here for awhile several months ago...is viisting just for the night. DS is in heaven as I let him drive over himself and get him. LOL

Sweet dreams everyone....Need to get some heating pad or something on my back.

Debbie

Recipe only has 4 ingredients, butter, icing sugar, cornstarch and flour. Will send it to you in the am. Santa Warren wants me to come in and sit with him as he tries to fall asleep.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, cold outside this morning..

Passing through with a 'hi'. leaving for town to do most of Christmas groceries, maybe a few more pressies for my boys before the ruth..sure at 6:30 there won't be long line ups..got to love the stores that are open day/ night this week. It will be rush in and rush out..have my trusted list with me

Was 12:12 when I went to bed this morning, thrilled that with few breaks I managed to finish quilt #2..long daY ahead of me as I plan to have the 3rd done..just need about another 12 hours..bound to be on easy street next week, just enjoying the Christmas spirit

Hoping you've all had a good night sleep and get done today what you want to get done..even if it's just resting!!

Verona, ON

So Mary and Debbie will you be making Shorbreads today?

Bright but chilly day here. Snowed enough to cover the lawn last night.

Beed to do a couple of things, will check back to see what everyone is up to today.
Dianne

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Dianne can you send that recipe for shortbread cookies down my way please? It sounds wonderful....

Verona, ON

Sure thing, I will just post it here

Heart Attack Shortbreads

1c softened butter

1/2 c icing sugar

1/2 c cornstrch

1 c all purpose flour (That's what I use)

Mix the first 3 ingredients together.
Then mix in the flour.

Refrigerator for approx 30 min.

Using a teaspoon or tablespoon (depends on the size of the cookie you want) and place the ball of dough on an UNGREASED cookie sheet. Can add sprinkles here now if you wish.

Bake 300 - 325 for 15 -30 min. The length of time depends on the size of the cookie.

Watch cookies carefully as they tend to burn quickly on the bottom. I bake at 300* as my oven runs hot
plus I rarely need more than 15 min baking time.

Ingale and enjoy!!

Barb I bet you and Sean would ove to make these together. A perfect kid friendly recipe as you can use you hands and other than the wait time to chill the recipe moves along at a fast pace.

Santa Warren ended up having a great sleep from about 3 am until just now. Whooo hoooo! Didn't mean I slept but I did close my eyes for about 2 hrs.
Going o call the GP on Mon as the sleepers she Rxd for me are doing nada, Forgot to mention to the GP that the Endo has just put me recently on a thyroid med. Maybe that isn't helping the sleepers to work.

Sun is shining.... soon off to the dump so I can get home and play with wood for a bit and oh yes Doodle Art. Santa Warren is going to wish he wasn't so quick to pass this onee gift along early. lol

Susan meant to say I am so glad you are getting a chance to go visit your family. Before my mam passed we had not spent as a familly Christmas together for over 25 years. Can't help remembering my DS and DB plus spouses and kids getting together for an uproaring good time. Mam's large Welsh family came for dinner too - upwards of 50 sitting down to dinner - all sitting down - the tables used to snake through our farmhouse.

Back from town, lordy a zoo even at the time I went but was on a mission and got about 75% of what I wanted to do done..other stores that had the 25% don't open till 9:30-10:00 so will wait until Monday and go on my lunch hour..as for groceries, all done except for cheese / fruit/veggie trays and those I cannot purchase until next Saturday if I want them to be fresh..

Still fighting a headache so meds should help ease it then it's quilt time again..

HERE are the 2 done so far

Going on a treasure hunt this afternoon...under beds/in closets looking for where I hid gifts this past year!

Dianne Noah and Kyle are coming over one night next week to make their mom, 2 sets of grandparents (bio and adopted) candle holders so will print off the recipe and maybe we can find time to make a few cookies.

June brought me a tray of hand made cookies, as I make a tea or coffee and pass by the plate I grab one, needles to say there might be 3 or 4 left..figure by the end of day I'll not have to wonder how to keep them fresh lol

Top of head coming off so think for a half hour or so I'll get my cookbook out to make sure I have everything I need for tortierre's..tomorrow morning's project

May you never have to go through this again Thunder! You and mothers of other soldiers have given equally as your boys..to wake each day and go to bed at night not knowing if they are safe, if you will ever see them again takes the greatest of strength..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thunder, you can't ask for anything better than that for Christmas! :)

Victoria Harbour, ON

How did your shopping day go yersterday LindaKay? Any buys?

Drats, mom is not feeling the best, can't stop coughing..druggist said best mucus clearer if mucinex dm ..woulnt you know not in Canada

Dianne, nap sounds like a plan

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, Thunder dear - I can "feel" your excitement!!!

Dianne - yes, I'm very excited to be visiting with my family - wish we could afford for Bob to come too, but he's working then. And another $170 won't come out of our bank account............

We got a few pressies yesterday - Bob's new employment of 9 days gave him a gift card for our grocery store, of $100!!!
Had my company Christmas party/dinner last night - Wow what a restaurant! Had prime rib, the appetizers had all fish products - calamari, crab cakes, oysters on the shell, and wine flowing. For dessert we had creme brule, followed by a dessert wine (raspberry, Bob said), then the Gift Exchange. Bob got the last # and it turned out there were no more presents on the table, so our organizer gave Bob 2 boxes of chocolates, and the lady who I've replaced at the company gave him another box of chocolates - very very nice of them both to make sure Bob got a gift, too. I got a tin of Honolulu cookies - must be very expensive because the gift amount was to be $20-$25......

Anyway we had a terrific time! Today I need to go shopping for his pressie lol
Tomorrow our Church Board has their annual Christmas Potluck. Bob won't be going because he has bowling on Mondays.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - sorry to hear your mom is doing so poorly........

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Betty I feel bad for your Mamma, If she has anything like what I got...it sucks big time!!!

Susan, looks like we both get special goodies for Christmas.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Congratulations Thunder. That is so wonderful!!! Will you be able to have all three home at the same time? Even for just one day???
Sounds like you and Bob had a great evening too Susan. Have a safe trip...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I did all of my Christmas shopping yesterday, and was really surprised I got all the items on the kids wish list! Like always, spent too much money, but what is Christmas for! Can't wait to see their faces tomorrow!
Betty wonder why you can't get mucinex DM in Canada? it sure works good, as we take it all the time for our allergies and colds.

Susan, sounds like you had a great time at your party!

Baton Rouge, LA

YAY Thunder this is wonderful news ! Betty - I Love the cookbook idea... would it be too much to see how much $ it would be for copies to be printed? We could all throw in our share for the finished product ?

I've never been part of one of those cookbooks before...
Dianne... Enjoying more chocolate and the candies... I swear they have helped my cough today more than the cough drops ! Should send one to Betty's Mom :o)
Betty - hope she feels better....
Susan - what a fabulous party ! Love those appetizers Yum !

we do a Cookie making night before Christmas Dianne.... So we'll add Shortbreads to the cookies we'll make YUM!
So glad Santa Warren got a few hours sleep. Sure wish you could as well.

Hubs wants me to go to a party at his old friends house tonight... so better start getting ready. We usually don't do stuff like that so will humor him..

((HUGS))
Mary

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yes, we had a great time

I went & got a present for Bob today.
I spent his gift cert at the grocery store - I ordered a complete Christmas turkey dinner for 8 and then bought everything else we needed for Christmas. The certificate is all used up, but it sure was nice not to have to "dip" into our small resources to do it, PLUS I don't have to cook a dinner for Christmas Day! They don't include yams (only the creamed potatoes) and we Have To Have yams......... otherwise, everything's included. kewl, eh?
It's nice, when I'm in the choir at church service in the morning, and likely won't be home before 1:30 with dinner at 5:00.
Also, the night before we have a Christmas Eve service and again we're in the choir. This prepared turkey dinner means I won't be "wiped" when dinnertime comes........ I can enjoy the day!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Linda - "their faces tomorrow"???? Are you celebrating a week early? Did I miss something?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It is always hard to get the family all together, so my youngest will come in this week end for an early Christmas, as they will be at his girlfriends parents on Christmas, then the week after Christmas my DIL will be here with my Granddaughter for a late Christmas. So we celebrate twice!
Sounds like you got a good buy with hubbies bonus!

Verona, ON

Susan you can join the ranks of people like Barbara Walters with your prepared meal. I think it is an excellent idea for you and a great way to use Bob's GC. Barbara for years ordered in a completely prepared Christmas meal. Her DD had no idea that B didn't cook it herself until the DD was in her teens. She the DD was so impressed that her DM who didn't cook the rest of the year would do this for Christmas. I guess Barbara lived in a swanky apartment in NYC that had a front and back or side door. The delivery people were instruced to come to the kitchen door. During the day Barbara would frequently go into the kitchen, bang some pots around the whole nine yards. Hope your meal will be as wonderful as the ones BW's DD remembers.

Mary I have a feeling it is the humbugs that are helping your cough. They are excellent for just that. He makes an old facshioned candy called Horehound ( pronounced exactly like it looks) that is even better than humbugs for coughing. They all keep well in the freezer.

Fire needs stoking BBL
Dianne

Baton Rouge, LA

You are exactly right Dianne... It was the Humbugs....I will try all day tomorrow using those instead of Vicks Cough Drops! (and keep them away from the rest of the family LOL)

Party was uneventful for me. It's difficult going to a party where ya know no other gal and only 1-2 guys... one being my BIL. Luckily a couple ladies took pity on me and had some nice conversation. Suse - she had read Lisa See's books so we talked about them a bit. But I'm glad to be home. Thought about our Judy as they had a HUGE roaring fire going on and a mini fire pit too. Sometimes I wish we lived in the Country with a lot of land.....
Susan you are so resourceful... :o)
LK - so glad you'll have a Long Christmas celebration with folks coming and going...

(HUGS)
Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, bitter cold outside..brrrr. Making porridge and having hot chocolate before I start my day..will be a non stop sewing day for sure but then I can sit with feet up,twiddle my fingers and enjoy Christmas week!

Not sure how I lost you all, must have hit unwatch at some point! But now I have you all to gab to again, won't feel so lane. Lol

Waiting for daylight..remembered around midnight that I had left 6 cases of pop in my car and the turkeys...shhh don't tell the boys, bought one and thought it doesn't look large enough so bought a second one..copped out and bought ore frozen, freezer to oven prestuffed...making it easier this Christmas..actually when I add to the dressing it's close to home made.

Yikes, just remembered that I have meat pies to do at some point today..

Susan, great way to have Christmas dinner, bet it's delicious otherwise they wouldn't be selling year after year. Sounds as though you had a great time at the party and double wow, giving Bob a $100 gift card after 9 days is quite something..will prove a great company to work for.

LindaKay you will be busy celebrating Christmas today..always fun having 2 celebrations..I'm like you, buy for grandkids and can hardly wait to see their excitement. Now that they are older pressies get more expensive..what did you manage to get them?? Will you get pressies today?

Ohh, only thing I could think of was a miniature vacuum for cleaning lint from my sewing machine/serger..so gave that item request to Jeff/julie. Not sure if they will find one but yesterday while at Walmart they had a battery operated one for $17.98. Certainly not high quality but might help so I bought it. Put it in the sewing cabinet so if I don't get one from Jeff/Julie I'll have one to use. Was so tempted to try it but refrained. Any of you have a particular brand vacuum you use..know air canes work as well..is that what you use.

Mary glad you made the best of the party..difficult when you don't know anyone. Will you be at in-laws for Christmas or at your house? Step children going to their mom's ?

Dianne, did you and Santa Warren get a good night's rest? Hmm are humbugs medicated?? No? Then is it because it's lubricating the throat? Sharon my sister is in Florida at a dog show this week, e-mailed her to see if she's near a drug store or if she can get to a drug store so she can pick up mucinex dm. Otherwise you know who will be heading to buffalo?? Not sure if she has access to her e-mails though. Believe she comes home on the 21st.

Better get a move on..gab later

Verona, ON

I'm up too and have been for a bit. Finally fell asleep about 3 am and got up around 5:15 am. Extremely happy to report Santa Warren had and is still having a good night's sleep, falling to sleep about 9:30 am and other than a couple of pit stops is still asleep. Oh joy! I am soon heading out to Kingston to WallyWorld and grocery shopping but just remembered he said he might like to come along. Would love to have him with me but that means I will wait until he wakes up. Since I am to make that emergency run into Kingston tomorrow because of my stupidity and forgetfulness maybe I will take him then. I am trying to beat the hordes at the grocery store and finish up the last of the bathroom items for DH's stocking.Having WM open 24/7 until Christmas is great for people like me.

LK I bet you are excited about today's activities. I know you will have a blast. Is this the son's DGF who kept in prayer last week? What's on the menu?

Mary does someone here on the thread have a copy of Whirligig that they are finished with and could be passed on? I have a friend here on DG who would really enjoy the book. I would gladly pay for the postage.I have finished Mind's Eye - did so quite awhile ago. Forgot it has been sitting in the bag that I take to the CC - will mail it off after Christmas to someone on this thread who I think will really enjoy it. Loved the book but not as much as Whirligig - now that one was precious.

Got the results of my latest MRI on Friday. Not going to dwell on it but there has been some changes in my Pit tumour. Since the Endo said the changes were slight she will order another MRI for 6 mon.

OK need to shower,,,, if I get time and the salon is open I will get my hair cut this am too.

Enjoy your day everyone. May it be everything you want this day to be!
Dianne

Made an old Macaroni Recipe last night that I haven't made in a few years. Forgot how good AND light on the tummy it is once cooked. It has Keene's mustard and instead of caynne I used roasted garlic and peppers plus Hoy Pepper Cheese mixed with old Cheddar. Yummo!
