Keep the cheer going.
Coffee Break # 69 Its Holiday time
Mailing boxes isn't cheery.
Even in the rain, Manhattan was packed yesterday.
My son & family are headed to Manhattan on Tuesday.....
Always fun. HIGHLY recommend the train show at the NY Botanical Garden in the Bronx if they have the time.
I was disappointed with some of the window displays. Saks was horrible. Bergdorf was weird. Lord & Taylor was very nice. Love the changes at Brant Park. Many little shops that sell locally made stuff. Ice-skating rink, music, etc. Used to be called Needle Park in the 70's due to the junkies.

Just now, Allison. The swamp part is correct for my area.
If you're following the VA Tech shootings, one angle to look at is the current status of the Commonwealth's psychiatric commitment laws and regulations. Gives me pause whether to even consider some of the other VA colleges for my kids.
No changes made since the massacre in '07??
Yikes! I was glad to hear my niece's son was fine.
The guy walked up to the cop then shot him and then killed himself

he wasn't a student
Friend of mine's daughter was having weird pains in her chest, with actual cracking type sounds, went to dr and he told her to take some tums "that should take care of it"
I hope she headed for the ER!
Crackling sounds are characteristic of pneumonia.
I'm thinking Tums ain't fixing pneumonia
I'm thinking I'm never going to that doctor!
Me neither!
My former boss brought over five pictures to be matted and framed. Another needs repair. Also, an autograph, 3 photos and a drawing by his father-in-law of Casey Stengel that needs to be framed together. Jeff is going to be busy. Thankfully, none are needed for Christmas. But, I know how his Christmas break is going to be spent and then some. They leave everything up to us, unless they are specific about something. They are all things done by his FIL. Hopefully it will be warm enough for him to mill some wood for the moldings.
Wow - student in my older guy's grade had to be taken by ambulance from school. He has a peanut allergy and was exposed. Scary.
Very scary! No peanut products allowed in my grandkids school.....
That is scary!!!
Why do you think so many kids have peanut allergies nowadays? I didn't know a single one when I was growing up.
My youngest daughter, who is a biology major and very into environmental problems, tells me that the little bodies are so busy trying to fight off all the effects of teflon, plastics, pesticides, etc. etc., that their systems become unable to deal with most things that shouldn't really be a problem. I really don't understand all the things she tells me, but it sounds something like that to me.
ROSES R RED !! I have a daughter who was a micro major.I also live with her. She sxplains medical things and my reaction is the same as yours.I just get the jyst.
I've wondered the same things. Two of my grandies have that allergy. They were both nursed and lived in different areas. One is also allergic to eggs. She was tested early, cuz she also had eczema from the gitgo. The other has asthma and has recently found to be allergic to penicillin.
It does seem rampant!!!
Back to VA Tech for a minute. The college took the heat for the 07 killings and made a lot of changes. I've talked to mental health professionals from the state who have said the other problems, especially communication between mental health agencies and police were not addressed. MA has been working very hard on this issue, and it is not easy to get the services to prevent violence out into the places where it happens.
True, Rosemary...consider the killing at Wesleyan a few years ago....man is insane, his family knew it, but he never got the help....back to allergies....when I was a child, I had no allergies....as an adult, I became allergic to corn products....went for allergy shots for many years....why did I suddenly become allergic? Same thing happened to a friend...she ended up in the ER...testing showed corn allergy.
Yes, I don't get the peanut allergy explosion. Probably something environmental. I never knew any kid who had it. Maybe Jimmy Carter had something to do with it?? ^_^
Personally, I believe allergies have been around for a long time, though maybe they're worse now, but who knows? Several generations of my family have been allergic to tomatoes, and mine surfaced in the young adult years.
I came from a family that wasn't rich enough to have allergies.Mind you I did get sick every fall
when the coal was delivered and the old hot air furnace was started up and I did get hay fever when the willows and cottonwood trees were out in the spring. Now I'm in my 80s and I'm allergic to so many things I won't even try to name them.As a last resort I intend to go to a Chinese doctor and see if she can help me.I'm sure my father had the same allergies I don't think we should blame it all on our environment.Science has improved life in so many ways however we are exposed to many more substances now than we were years ago.JOY
you too Harper!!
What a doll! Hope you all had a great time celebrating. Harper, aren't kitties contortionists? What a pose....
Beautiful face! She looks like she has the personality to go with it.
What a cutie!
Kids grow so fast. Cute!

Any suggestions for little holiday gifts that are made in America? I bought a few porcelean travel mugs and candles to give so far.
This might help. ^_^
